  1. The Tribune has some photos. The board looks really clear.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) I say the players just aren't good base stealers. Eaton anyway. I know he was working on some sort of positioning with his feet this spring. At least he was caught basically trying to get too good of a jump.
  3. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Well, we have no excuses for more horse s*** running. So who are you blaming, and who needs to be fired now?
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) As usual you're so bogged down in pedantry that you miss the point: the Sox were by far, the worst running team in MLB last year. The metrics don't lie, neither does the eye test. Who was the baserunning coach last year? Vince Coleman. He was the coach of a league worst running offense. Fire him. Do you even know if Vince Coleman is with the team? Even if he is and is with the team, getting picked off wouldn't be on him. Maybe the first base coach, but it really would be on the player. In both instances it appeared the runners were going on first move and got burned although Lawrie if he could have kept his leg down would have been safe. But if you want to blame baserunning mistakes on a coach and not the players, you probably are going to continue to have the same problems. Guys getting picked off really wasn't as offensive as some of the baserunning last season. You have to be aggressive. You can't run the bases scared, especially the guys who can run. If Adam Eaton is petrified about being picked off, he isn't going to be able to steal bases.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) I want to see less f***ing running into outs, especially, ffs, when Jose Abreu is at the plate. If vince coleman is somehow still on this staff he should be fired. So it would be Vince Coleman's fault someone gets picked off?
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 12:01 PM) Go to Shinnicks before the game and get a beer. They'll give you a parking pass if you ask for it. It's a few blocks to walk to the stadium with an easy exit after the game. Shinnicks is good. Pretty much any business will let you use a temp pass if you go there for a beer or burger or something. Also, it's a little bit of a walk but Michigan Ave. around 35th has free street parking. I've only done it maybe 3 or 4 times, but there are always spots
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) How did he not get an error on that? They gave it to the 1B.
  8. Semien didn't get the error but he made a bad play.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) Anyone know if Gray is starting tomorrow? Stone said that was the plan.
  10. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Miguel Gonzalez's deal doesn't include an opt-out. He's headed straight to Triple-A Charlotte. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/717140969875845120 No opt out shocks me.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) The good news is: we have a different team then most years and I think we can have more success against these types of pitchers. The other good news is the guy most similar to Hill, Hill himself, hasn't been very good against the White Sox in the past
  12. When Alexei went away, Avi became the longest tenured position player.
  13. QUOTE (chisox802 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 03:16 PM) I don't like this at all. Rich Hill is the typical shi**y starter we never hit...... 0-1 with a 6.35 ERA lifetime vs. the Sox. Averages a walk and a strikeout an inning.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:44 PM) He lives in St. Louis which makes it a lot easier. The thing that drives me nuts is when you're using a Comcast TV in Chicago they will have the score and local news on a ticker of sorts. Not cool. My troubles with it have nothing to do with location. If I could not watch until midnight, I would cave in and check the score to see if it was worth my time staying up. Plus he has access to the internet. That score is a couple of clicks away at all times. I cave every time. It's a good thing my addiction is baseball or I really would be a mess.
  15. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) i feel stupid here but who is their golden boy??? Coach Hoiberg.
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 02:35 PM) Can't decide whether to keep up while at work or try to ignore and watch it when I get off at midnight. Maybe you are different from me, but every time I couldn't watch a game and recorded it, no matter how well I planned, it never worked out.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Shameless is still so good. Characters to invest in and feel for no matter how crappy they are sometimes. Except Frank. F him. I used to really like it, but it's getting to be too much for me. Everyone is a loser. 3 seasons ago, Frank was hysterical, 2 seasons ago Kev was hilarious, last season, Mickey was great to watch. I found this season to be off a bit. Too depressing. Fiona is a whore, Lip is an alcoholic, Ian has a ton of problems, Deb a 15 year old mother (I thought they spend way too much time on her) Carl a juvenile delinquent. Frank is Frank. Kev and his wife are whacked out as is the Russian girl. There isn't one character with any class. Can't they just have one ? Even every small part, the characters are classless with a ton of problems.
  18. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 12:10 PM) I really dont understand the thinking of having Avila 9th It's like batting the pitcher ninth.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 11:53 AM) Want to just point out, with the backs against the wall, Butler has put up back to back spectacular performances. I still think the thought of moving him is delusional. His issues are more due to older vets being bothered by him establishing himself as the leader and when you look at how he puts in his work, how hard he plays, can you really argue? Hell, look at how much better of a passer he is. He's got to work more on this leadership part but it is going to be really interesting to see how things change this off-season. It seems to me Rose is better when Butler is out, and Butler is better when Rose is out.
  20. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) They both suck. America's obesity and diabetes problems start with these damned carbonated sugar drinks. Just say no. I do agree with obesity and diabetes problem . I read where the average American has almost doubled it's calorie intake from drinks the past 20 years. The small coke at McDonalds (I know, another poison factory) is the same size as the large coke in the 70s. Free refills etc. But in moderation, it does hit the spot. I do agree about the plastic bottles, but every once in a while a bottle or can of Coke is delightful.
  21. Probably has an opt out in a month or so.
  22. Coming in, this tournament looked pretty wide open set for a lot of excitement, but it has been one of the most boring I can remember.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) You seriously believe that Brad Stevens will be the best coach since John Wooden? Ha. No way. That is insane. He has to go something like 146-8 to catch Thibs. I was just pointing out why big name college coaches usually fail. No one succeeds with bad players.
  24. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 3, 2016 -> 09:15 AM) You never read the post but commented anyway. Saying the " new catcher combo is better offensively than last year's combo but worse defensively" had nothing to do w spring training. If Avila had a big spring, you never would have mentioned the catchers, and the defense, while you may be correct from the end of the season, from opening day to opening day, the defense is vastly improved. The better defense the Sox threw in during last season didn't seem to do much for the win column. Getting guys who can hit and play decent defense could be huge.
