Papa John's to become official Pizza of MLB
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) http://www.forbes.com/sites/maurybrown/201...a/#436ecfe550d1 White Sox are listed on here. They better still have Beggars Pizza at the ballpark. That would be a travesty. They have the score 5 runs deal with Papa John's. Beggar's is still at the park. In fact, they built a Beggars Pizza Pub in left center field, similar to the XFinity Zone down the right field line. So Beggars is going to be there for a while.

White Sox Sign Miguel Gonzalez
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) I guess it'd be good insurance in case Latos absolutely bombs. Not if he would bomb. Keep in mind, everything anyone is using for their reason for Latos to suck, 2015 results, 2016 spring training results, this guy had the same problem.

White Sox Sign Miguel Gonzalez
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 08:39 AM) I don't think the appearance has anything to do with it. He doesn't really fit though. I don't get the appeal either, but if he is willing to go to Charlotte, who really cares? To me, getting a guy who would suck just as much or more than the person he is replacing really isn't insurance.

2001 BA Top 100 list 15 years later
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 1, 2016 -> 07:48 AM) http://www.ocregister.com/angels/strong-42...body-table.html Lots of White Sox names in the Top 60. Unfortunately Rowand and Crede were the only ones to make it...Buehrle the year before. Others just off the list were Barcelo, Josh Fogg, Biddle and Stumm. It's actually 10 years later. The article is 5 years old. But the point remains the same, prospects break your heart. The Sox had plenty of highly ranked guys that didn't pan out. I totally forgot about Rauch. After winning in 2000 the Sox were expected to be the team of the next decade with Rauch being a right handed Randy Johnson, and Jon Garland being the next coming of Kevin Brown. At least they won once.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
The Bulls have had an at least 3 game losing streak 6 times this season. They had 6 losing streaks of 3 games or more total in the 5 seasons Thibs coached the team. Also DRose has played more games this year than the 3 previous seasons combined.

White Sox Sign Miguel Gonzalez
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) This tells me that the White Sox brass can't be too pleased with the bottom of our rotation which consists of Danks and Latos. Either that or they think they see some flaw they think will turn Gonzalez around. His peripherals have been horrid for years, he was horrid last year and worse than that this spring. It is probably a long shot at best, but if he is willing to go to Charlotte, I don't see the harm. I just wouldn't expect much. It isn't often a good starting pitcher making $5 million gets released right before opening day.

White Sox Sign Miguel Gonzalez
People love others' trash. Latos sucks, EJohnson sucks, just look at their springs. Miguel Gonzalez, now there's an idea. Yet this spring: 19 IP 35 H 21 R 21 ER 5 HR 6 BB 8 SO And that's in Florida. I wonder what it would have been like in AZ.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) I'm not defending Young but I'd be pissed if someone secretly recorded a conversation I had with them on anything. Completely pissed. To do it in the lockeroom and than have it leaked is even worse. In no way am I defending Young. Cheating scumbag and he'll get what he's deserved but Russell f***ed up royally too and should never have secretly recorded a conversation between two people in the lockeroom. That violates all code of the lockeroom. I can only imagine how everyone would be ripping LaRoche or Eaton if he had done something similar. I was watching an NFL show yesterday and every single player (black, white, defense, oline, etc)...this included hall of famer Jerome Bettis (plus Jeff Saturday and a few others) and they all absolutely ripped Russel and said if that happened in there lockeroom, things would have been much worse than the Lakers shunning him, but beyond that, you would never ever trust the player again (and that isn't just on the Lakers, no player will have that trust because it has been violated). The NFL guys mean nothing to me. Greg Hardy got a second chance. Ray Rice, if his performance wasn't horrid, would have had another chance. Saying never trust some kid who just turned 20, made a mistake, but nothing criminal, is absurd. Players do worse things every day. Young has every right to be angry. If he recorded me, I would be angry. But if that's the worst thing anyone will ever do to you, you will have a really happy life. People need to let it go.

How much would you pay to take Panda off of Boston's hands?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) And to be fair, literally no one thought signing Sandoval at anywhere near what Boston bid was a good idea. No one. Never said anyone here did. I just said it seemed pretty obvious that trouble would occur. Maybe the Red Sox thought they could get 2 or 3 years out of him before it happened, but they got nothing. Many times teams get burned, but at least you could see where a signing made sense. This one was crazy.

He would gain weight like those people on My 600 lb. life when he was playing for a contract. Now that he is guaranteed, there is no stopping that belly. His signing being a mistake was an easy thing to see before it happened.

New scoreboard "will change game experience"
QUOTE (Sockin @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) Anyone know if this is going to be done by next Friday? I saw a crane still working on it the other day. I was at a season ticketholder event last nigh at the ChiSox Bar and Grill. They were definitely testing the CF scoreboard. I think its done. The pinwheels had Sox emblems and the sticks the pinwheels are attached where lit up with the colors the pinwheels normally are. It was pretty cool. I also won $20 in Comiskey cash and an autographed Johnny Danks photo last night. Cocktails, food, free crap, all free. Season tickets even a tiny plan like I have now has big benefits.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) Even Butler? So fast before the Lakers came to their senses. This guy is potentially a top 5 player in the league in a couple of years. He is a 19 year old kid who made a mistake. Crucifying him is absolutely ridiculous.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) .296 batting average with a .340 OBP vs. righties last year. In line with his career averages. Ishikawa can't do that. Against RHP, he wasn't much better in 2015 than Adam LaRoche.

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Anyone who currently fits that profile on the market? I can't find anyone. Depends how much money Cincinatti would eat with Jay Bruce. If they were willing to eat $8 million like in the trade that went bust, there's the play right there.

I would rather they get someone who can hit home runs. The Sox suck when they don't hit home runs.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) No they shouldn't. Exactly. If they want him, let him clear. No one will pay him $8 million, and sign him for the minimum.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Rose and Russell are no where near each other in terms of salary. The Lakers would have to figure out a way to package up enough salary to make it work. The one salary that makes Rose and Russell work together in a deal is Roy Hibbert. Other than that it gets difficult because besides Kobe, the Lakers have no one else making over $7 million a year. It doesn't matter if the Lakers have the cap space. The cap is going up almost Rose's salary. Kobe is coming off their books. I would imagine LA will have a lot of space this summer. I have read estimates of between $55 million on the low end and $75 million on the high end.

2016 Forbes MLB valuations
This TV contract is still 3 years away. There are going to be more issues at play. Maybe some that could mean a lot less money, maybe some that could mean a lot more.

It always amazes me how much some put into spring training numbers despite years and years of showing they usually don't mean too much. On the other hand, if they are so important, Avi should be in the MVP discussion this year. Keep in mind spring training numbers are a week and a half to 2 weeks of regular season PAs with many other factors that make it less like a real game built in.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
I really have no idea if Hoiberg will be a good coach. He was totally set up to fail this year. They gave him the same injury plagued roster that has failed in the past. Spun it as the reason they haven't won was because of the coach. Started with Dunleavy sidelined with back surgery, like he would be absolutely fine in a week or two. Noah got hurt. General Soreness missed some games, just not as many as in the past. Butler missed games like he has the past couple of years. Taj actually was more healthy than normal. Pau is getting close to 40, he is going to miss games. The injuries should have surprised no one. The fact is they made a big deal of their "depth" that in the past did cover for these injuries until playoff time, when they can't be overcome. The GarPax team needs to be split up. At least one has to go. Someone else needs to look at these guys. The Bulls have fallen in love with their good, just not good enough to win players for years. They need an outsider to stop this. Is Jimmy Butler or Derrick Rose, even if he's 100%, really the best player on a championship team?

Spring Training Cuts thread
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) Ishikawa is known as a good clubhouse guy FWIW and if you squint hard enough you can see a useful platoon bat to spell Avi and Jose and even Jackson and Melky. Hopefully Robin never uses him against righties. And I mean never. They might have well of kept Davidson if that's the plan. I really feel for Carlos Sanchez who from all accounts is an amazing family man (check his twitter) and it's got to be tough to after playing well for the 2nd half and then having a helluva spring that he's the odd man out. But that's just the way the roster is nothing against him. He's no great shakes but I still think he's a 2-2.5 WAR starter possibly as soon as this year. At 23 he still has time. With his glove he doesn't need to hit much more than 260/300/380 to be a solid starter in today's MLB. Scoring is down and 2B don't hit much anymore. Well if Robin never uses him vs righties and only lefties he should be fired.

QUOTE (Louis Penna @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) I definitely get this line of thinking, and I agree to a point, but what has Ishikawa done to earn the spot? At least Davidson was once a top prospect. Given the alternatives of Sands and Ishikawa, I'd go Davidson every time. I don't understand Ishikawa either, but let Davidson have some success at AAA first.
