  1. QUOTE (Sockin @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 09:42 AM) Anyone know if this is going to be done by next Friday? I saw a crane still working on it the other day. I was at a season ticketholder event last nigh at the ChiSox Bar and Grill. They were definitely testing the CF scoreboard. I think its done. The pinwheels had Sox emblems and the sticks the pinwheels are attached where lit up with the colors the pinwheels normally are. It was pretty cool. I also won $20 in Comiskey cash and an autographed Johnny Danks photo last night. Cocktails, food, free crap, all free. Season tickets even a tiny plan like I have now has big benefits.
  2. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 31, 2016 -> 08:19 AM) Even Butler? So fast before the Lakers came to their senses. This guy is potentially a top 5 player in the league in a couple of years. He is a 19 year old kid who made a mistake. Crucifying him is absolutely ridiculous.
  3. Saladino' facial hair is beyond weak.
  4. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) .296 batting average with a .340 OBP vs. righties last year. In line with his career averages. Ishikawa can't do that. Against RHP, he wasn't much better in 2015 than Adam LaRoche.
  5. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Anyone who currently fits that profile on the market? I can't find anyone. Depends how much money Cincinatti would eat with Jay Bruce. If they were willing to eat $8 million like in the trade that went bust, there's the play right there.
  6. I would rather they get someone who can hit home runs. The Sox suck when they don't hit home runs.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) If they cut him we don't have to pay that do we? If the White Sox claimed him on waivers they would have to pay him his contract.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) No they shouldn't. Exactly. If they want him, let him clear. No one will pay him $8 million, and sign him for the minimum.
  9. I'd trade anyone on the Bulls for Russell.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Rose and Russell are no where near each other in terms of salary. The Lakers would have to figure out a way to package up enough salary to make it work. The one salary that makes Rose and Russell work together in a deal is Roy Hibbert. Other than that it gets difficult because besides Kobe, the Lakers have no one else making over $7 million a year. It doesn't matter if the Lakers have the cap space. The cap is going up almost Rose's salary. Kobe is coming off their books. I would imagine LA will have a lot of space this summer. I have read estimates of between $55 million on the low end and $75 million on the high end.
  11. This TV contract is still 3 years away. There are going to be more issues at play. Maybe some that could mean a lot less money, maybe some that could mean a lot more.
  12. It always amazes me how much some put into spring training numbers despite years and years of showing they usually don't mean too much. On the other hand, if they are so important, Avi should be in the MVP discussion this year. Keep in mind spring training numbers are a week and a half to 2 weeks of regular season PAs with many other factors that make it less like a real game built in.
  13. I really have no idea if Hoiberg will be a good coach. He was totally set up to fail this year. They gave him the same injury plagued roster that has failed in the past. Spun it as the reason they haven't won was because of the coach. Started with Dunleavy sidelined with back surgery, like he would be absolutely fine in a week or two. Noah got hurt. General Soreness missed some games, just not as many as in the past. Butler missed games like he has the past couple of years. Taj actually was more healthy than normal. Pau is getting close to 40, he is going to miss games. The injuries should have surprised no one. The fact is they made a big deal of their "depth" that in the past did cover for these injuries until playoff time, when they can't be overcome. The GarPax team needs to be split up. At least one has to go. Someone else needs to look at these guys. The Bulls have fallen in love with their good, just not good enough to win players for years. They need an outsider to stop this. Is Jimmy Butler or Derrick Rose, even if he's 100%, really the best player on a championship team?
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 09:04 PM) Ishikawa is known as a good clubhouse guy FWIW and if you squint hard enough you can see a useful platoon bat to spell Avi and Jose and even Jackson and Melky. Hopefully Robin never uses him against righties. And I mean never. They might have well of kept Davidson if that's the plan. I really feel for Carlos Sanchez who from all accounts is an amazing family man (check his twitter) and it's got to be tough to after playing well for the 2nd half and then having a helluva spring that he's the odd man out. But that's just the way the roster is nothing against him. He's no great shakes but I still think he's a 2-2.5 WAR starter possibly as soon as this year. At 23 he still has time. With his glove he doesn't need to hit much more than 260/300/380 to be a solid starter in today's MLB. Scoring is down and 2B don't hit much anymore. Well if Robin never uses him vs righties and only lefties he should be fired.
  15. QUOTE (Louis Penna @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) I definitely get this line of thinking, and I agree to a point, but what has Ishikawa done to earn the spot? At least Davidson was once a top prospect. Given the alternatives of Sands and Ishikawa, I'd go Davidson every time. I don't understand Ishikawa either, but let Davidson have some success at AAA first.
  16. I think the league has juiced the balls this year. Not only are guys hitting a lot more homers, they are clearing walls by a huge margin.
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) most of what you say is true. but my point is in jk selecting floyd. With the point, is almost exactly the same. Everyone knew what the deal was way before it was announced. I don't remember if Krause actually had the nerve to lie and say the Bulls would conduct an exhaustive search to find the right fit like Gar said. But other than that, identical, even from where they came.
  18. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) lol, I didn't edit anything in your post. You wrote that Hawk will say when the Sox suck and that he knows what's going on. I posted an example of Hawk saying the 78 win Sox had more talent then the club coming off a WS appearance that then won a WS. Hawk is senile and when he says stupid s*** like saying the Sox have more talent than the Royals it makes the entire ORG look bad. When he is on Boston radio. When he is doing White Sox games I mentioned his over the top stuff is shtick. And no, it doesn't make the entire organization look bad. But by all means come into the I love Hawk Harrelson thread and tell us all how we are wrong and he is horrible and senile.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) FutureSox.com ‏@FutureSox 10m10 minutes ago Two names still in camp that are just as interesting as who was cut: Jacob May and Phillippe Aumont. We all know there is about a zero percent chance May makes the team. That is why I was wondering if there really is anything to when they actually cut someone not on one of these $100k detention bonus things. Aumont I would think is a longshot but perhaps in line if someone has to be DL'd or they take 13 pitchers.
  20. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) Ok. That was during a White Sox broadcast not on Boston radio. But way to go editing my post to make it look like I posted something I did not.
  21. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:06 PM) a great comp but i was looking at this like floyd and krause. People can say what they will about Jerry Krause, but he does have 6 rings. Obviously mostly because of a player that came with the job, but he hit on Scottie Pippen. He listened to Doug Collins and took Horace Grant. He picked up the complimentary pieces. He was the guy that gave Phil Jackson the opportunity. On the other hand, he couldn't wait to blow it up and do it again, and that was one of the bigger disasters in league history.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) Being a homer is fine - whenever I tend to call sporting events I end up having a bit of a homer-ish tone to my announcing. The problem is you can't be homerish to the point of being wrong half the time, which is what Hawk has become. I think most of that is just shtick. He knows what's going on. Before he came to the White Sox, he actually got into a lot of trouble in Boston for calling out ownership and "telling it like it is". He still has a bit of a cult hero status in Boston, and when the White Sox visit there, goes on sports radio pretty often. There he gives a pretty blunt description of the White Sox. If they suck, he will say they suck.
  23. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 01:12 PM) But he's confident right now DA! That's true. Sending him down may make him roll up in the fetal position and suck again. To his credit, he apparently has changed some things and has looked good. Whether that is for real or another spring training mirage, we can find out with him in AAA. It's better for him anyway, except for the paycheck.
  24. So the Sox should just ignore the 1141 plate appearances Davidson has made in AAA the past 2 years where he barely hit .200 and struck out more often than Adam Dunn, and base a roster spot on the 44 plate appearances he made this spring in games that don't count. No one really can be serious, right? Send him to Charlotte. If he's worth a roster spot, he will show he's worth a roster spot.
  25. Rosenbloom had a nice one today. Said Gar and Hoiberg is Bulls for Emery and Trestman.
