  2. They couldn't wait to get rid of him before, so I can't see them having much interest now.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 27, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) So I gotta go for this after the last week: There is zero reason why Fred Hoiberg should coach the Chicago Bulls next fall. He may be a better coach than this, he may be a better coach elsewhere, he could turn into the next Pop somewhere else and I will still think that dropping him now is the right call. As he was the handpicked choice of management, if removing management is necessary to accomplish this step, then I am similarly ok with that. Dumping guys 1 year into a 5 year contract doesn't happen very often. The CSN beat guy, I think is name is Vincent Goodwill, is pretty blunt for a beat guy. He told Garfien when they were 22-12 that storm clouds were developing and he wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make the playoffs. He was on Sportstalk Live a couple of weeks ago and said the Bulls players simply don't like playing with each other. Last night's game had to be about as embarrassing as any since they became relevant again. But missing the playoffs may cause change. Yeah, they laid down at the end of the series vs. the Cavs last year, but they were going to lose that anyway. Not making the playoffs causes a lot of cash not to flow into the Bulls' bank accounts. I would imagine there will be a sacrificial lamb. Not Hoiberg, they owe him too much money. Not Pax, he's the Bulls KW. Logic says Gar , which he deserves. Someone is going to pay, but they have to adjust the roster significantly.
  4. They can get by on $100 a day. If they must spend a couple of hundred on lunch, they make enough to cough up the difference themselves. A couple things I found out is when they go on a roadtrip, they get all their per diem in cash up front. They also get per diem money when they are playing on the "road" within their city. When the Sox go to Wrigley, they get a per diem.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) You could write speeches for Donald Trump. You full well know that when people say they wanted Adam LaRoche to retire, they didn't mean they wanted an ugly and prolonged feud to emerge that kept the team in the news for days at at time and created strife and controversy in the front office and locker room potentially dividing the team and cause issues that could last into the season and hurt the team on the field. You understand the difference between what people wanted, and what actually happened, why are you acting like they are the same thing? Representing that statement as a "truth" is dishonesty on a level that would make Bill Clinton flinch, because it wilfully ignores 99.9% of what actually happened to make an argument that should have been over days ago. Take your own advice and move on if this is the kind of "truth" and "facts" you are going to try to pass off. This "feud" is not being fueled by LaRoche. It's a reach that his meat company has a familyfirst promotion and it is meant as blasting the White Sox. LaRoche wrote very highly of the organization except one member.
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) no you are not, it is you, and you using your perception of what you are assuming is facts. I am stating facts. 100% of posters would have been happy a week before Adam LaRoche retired if he retired. Then he retires and all of the perfect parents here know how to raise their kids and know despite not one report to the contrary, the guy LaRoche is doing a s***ty job of raising is nothing but a good kid. Just remember when you mention FACTS, the next complaint you read about Drake LaRoche will be the first. So if you want to rip people for assuming, you really need to look in the mirror. We assume a lot of things. KW flatly omitted he totally banned the kid, and then changed his mind. Do you know that he changed it right away or after LaRoche decided to retire? We don't know, and won't know. But again, LaRoche sucked so he is going to be the one who is blamed. There are so many things here that could go either way. I don't see anything wrong with his company using recent news as a promotion to sell product. Why don't they monitor LaRoche's twitter instead if you are looking for something to piss you off?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) So this is you moving on? I'm just commenting, and stating some facts. Adam LaRoche needed to retire. So he retires and he's an ass. Adam LaRoche needs to move on, now we have someone monitoring his Meat company's twitter feed to see if anything controversial comes of it, not to mention a shot at him for not thanking fans. Why isn't the tweet where he thanked baseball and said he gave him more than he ever deserved, from HIS twitter totally ignored. But fanning flames is one of your specialties.
  8. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) and there are many times he could have come out with that special msg of let is die, but didn't. He's been silent. I don't know why that is some evil conspiracy. He is gone, leaving the game behind. Why are you criticizing he not moving on when he clearly is, when you cannot move on?
  9. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 10:01 AM) Bingo. They could have used any other discount code. Instead they picked one that fans the flames. No. They are using the latest news and the people who support him to make some extra sales for their business. What another awful thing that no one else would do. The only flames being fanned are fathom, LDF and you.
  10. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) Absolutely, acting all victimized. If he had wanted to muzzle his company's Twitter account he would have done so immediately. Instead he was all too happy to play the martyr. Instead of being quiet, he could have put his statement out there right away. I've consistently been among the least harsh on LaRoche the player, chalking his struggles up to the hamate and expecting a reasonable bounceback. There's no special bias from me, but he comes out of this looking like a buffoon, and I'm happy to point that out when he continues to drum this s*** up. What? Familyfirst on a meat site for a 10% discount? And earlier showing support for your family member? Just awful. You guys complaining don't even realize how petty you are getting.
  11. QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) if that was all to it, with all due respect, but lets do a timeline 1 . for whatever reason management came to him in a respected way to tone it back 2. al did not do it, (did he tell any of his teammates?) 3. al had his son on the pitching mound 4. management got even angrier and they had words. 5. al made a statement in which he stated something like he need to think of his future 6. management tried to talk to to no avail 7. sox clubhouse and some players voiced their support. 8. al retired. 9. clubhouse and kw incident. 10. al letter to explain his side or something to that effect. 11. clubhouse became incensed 12. owner came in to pacify things. now some where in there both side could have chg and stop the mess. tell me where??? You are making this up as well and assuming many things. How do you know KW was respectful? Because he said so when he failed to mention he told LaRoche no more access? He clearly lied. Plus the team agreed to his kid having this kind of access. How many other kids had their own locker and uniform? Do you think Adam did that on his own. Look at the facts and not your hatred for how LaRoche played. He sucked. He even said he sucked. That really shouldn't matter. He's gone, and the faction moaning about Sale and Eaton keeping it alive now won't let it go after it hasn't been a story for a few days. Let it go. He's gone. hint #1.
  12. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) He should feel ashamed because he's acting all victimized because he can't spend every waking hour with his f***ing kid, while he sat across the locker room from a guy in Abreu who's actually been through something difficult. He proceeded to make the choice to Twitter snipe while allowing the issue to explode. Not difficult to understand. Yup, that's it. As usual you've hit the nail right on the head. Acting all victimized? He made one statement and walked away. You don't like LaRoche the player, so now you are just making things up. He has been one of the most quiet about this entire thing than anyone.
  13. QUOTE (peppers312 @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:13 AM) it's "technically" a contract year for Danks, so if he wants to continue playing ball for the remaining part of his career you would think we'll see the best of him this year. i'm sure Hahn/Jerry can't wait to see that $15.75M come off the books though. He also becomes a 5/10 guy after this season. So if he's good enough to earn a decent contract, it won't be with the White Sox.
  14. Danks never threw huge gas. Maybe 92 or 93 on occasion. Even during his heyday, he always was susceptible to the beyond horrid outings. I don't know if he truly was tipping pitches or this is just coincidence. Hopefully he can put up a decent year. He will still have some good games, and some when he looks like a Soxtalk poster on the mound.
  15. QUOTE (shysocks @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 08:57 AM) LaRoche should read Jose Abreu's statement that Quinarvy posted yesterday and feel f***ing ashamed of himself. Why? The guy chose his kid over $13 million. That's his choice. The guy everyone wanted to retire, now is one of the biggest assholes of all time because he retired.
  16. If Forbes is to be believed, the team made $20 million last year, despite a bad year, low ratings, low attendance, cheap tickets, stretching the payroll... It doesn't appear the franchise is doomed or looking to move out of their sweetheart deal anytime soon.
  17. I just wonder what exactly they are "monitoring". I suppose it all has to do with whether or not LaRoche wants to file a grievance.
  18. Hopefully the adjustments help him, but to think it will cut his k's way back and increase his homers is about as likely as Thad Bosley giving JR a compliment.
  19. I don't think you can really judge him yet. Getting excited about spring training homers and strikeouts just sounds phony, so I am glad he isn't trying to sell that. When the games count, and his feet are sufficiently wet will be when you see what he is. I think he will be pretty good, and no knock on him,but I am looking forward to a Hawkeroo sighting in less than 2 weeks.
  20. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) Has Rollins played any 2B or 3B this spring? Probably the most telling action of them all. If Rollins was going to be utility, he would have played there at least some, unless they are releasing him.
  21. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) How is Loney hapless??? He hit .280 in 300+ AB last year and is considered an above average IB. That is not a bad back-up to have. His OPS was not much higher than LaRoche's in 2015, and really he isn't a guy who you would project to be much better.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) I hate 1B that don't hit for power. There are better options out there than Loney. I agree. Loney to me would be a last gasp guy. If you are going to spend some of the saved money on a hitter, get someone who hits the ball out of the park.
  23. Johnson was giving answers like a robot at Soxfest. All about his routine, etc. It was like someone programmed him. That's all fine and dandy when things are going your way, but IMO he has to have some sort of flexibility. Unless your are elite, the tide changes fairly often. And he is not elite. It seems with him, if plan A isn't working, he's screwed. There is no plan B or C or D.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 21, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) More specifically, he thinks he COULD be, is what he said. And I really doubt it. But certainly Hickman is one to keep an eye on, though I'd suggest one shouldn't focus on his 2016 numbers. His goal for this season is just to get stretched back out, gain strength back, and log innings. 2017 will tell you what you've really got. Word is, Hickman will likely be with AZL for most or all of this season. Full season ball would come in 2017. I asked Nick his thoughts about the former Rice Owl. In true form, Capra replied, “I put him right up there with Fulmer That was from Future Sox. He said the exact same thing at Soxfest when he was asked about under the radar guys.
  25. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 20, 2016 -> 04:54 PM) Is he going to be starting? I think Jordan Stephens is a guy that could easily be a top 10 guy too. That's the guy Nick Capra thinks is as good as Fulmer.
