  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) OH MY GOD THE SOX ARE GETTING KILLED!!! Never mind, I read this thread before looking at the score. It's actually tied. I think it's pretty clear the Sox have no chance against Graveman today, and Latos will be lucky if he doesn't give up 7 runs.
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) http://southside.locals.baseballprospectus...ew-videoboards/ Of course it's ridiculous. The Bar and Grill though is a bigger crock. I think they spent about just as much money on that and JR gets to keep all the profits. At least taxpayers of IL will be able to enjoy these boards.
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) It's a long flight home with a day game tomorrow. I have no problem with any lineup they put out there today. Pinch running and pinch hitting can still happen during the game. Exactly.
  4. For a site that seems so concerned with the 25th guy on the roster, players getting their proper days off etc. there is a lot of complaining when the top 9 guys aren't in the line up any particular game. Maybe Jackson needed a break. Maybe sitting him today, has him better prepared for success tomorrow. It's a long season.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 12:39 PM) Detailed, must-read if you're hanging out in this thread. He makes several good points. But I can't get my head around pushing it is the cause of the problem. DRose sat and sat and sat and sat, still sits for general soreness, and still gets hurt. If Noah sat out another week, maybe his shoulder doesn't get injured again, but I'm thinking sitting another week would cause that not to happen to be not so likely. I do think using the Suns way may help a bit, but once guys start having a history of breaking down, I don't think there really is much that is going to stop it from continuing. If you want to play your best players 25 minutes a game and sit out anytime they are sore, is that going to be a solution?
  6. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) They revealed bits and pieces of it. Chance The Rapper narrates it Yes. Here is a bit http://www.redeyechicago.com/sports/redeye...0405-story.html They really haven't even shown much of the other 2 boards either. Should be quite the video experience. It looks like they upgraded the little message ticker on the billboard down the RF line, and that is where they will be using for the out of town scores.
  7. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Totally forgot about this: For five days, Horace Grant and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, ruminated about what to say and how to respond to accusations by Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf that Grant reneged on a handshake agreement to stay with the team. In a news conference last week, Reinsdorf also accused Grant of feigning injury and illness during the season-the "blue flu," in Reinsdorf's words-which contributed to the Bulls losing the regular-season Eastern Conference title and home-court advantage through the playoffs. It wasn't in writing. Things change.
  8. Ptatc is exactly right. The Sox don't have long men and Albers can go multiples. He isn't going to be the 8th inning guy. Besides you might not even want him in the 6th inning a couple of weeks from now. Look how long it took for Jones to go from a lock down set up guy who Robin didn't know how to use, to a mediocre guy with issues. Less than 24 hours.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) It was one game and it certainly wasn't some 10 run route like was made out to be. If after two month's he has an ERA > 5, sure, but either way, the guy was here for a year and didn't work out. Oh well, doesn't need a seperate thread. Plenty of guys stink all the time. It one freaking game. Is Zach Greinke the biggest bum ever because he had an awful opener? What about Clayton Kershaw who was lousy for the first month and a half last year before dominating the planet again. Please note that I am not comparing Shark to either of them, but I'm not going to reach any conclusion on Shark's contract being awful because of one freaking game (unless he got hurt and was going to be out the next two years or something). If this was dbackstalk, OMG. Greinke gets destroyed. Shelby Miller gives up 3 long balls. KW, JR and RH are pretty popular compared to what it would be like for Dave Stewart and Tony LaRussa.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) 670 The Score ‏@670TheScore 5m5 minutes ago Horace Grant joins Bulls as a special advisor to president/COO Michael Reinsdorf: http://cbsloc.al/23cgmZx Or as Horace likes to call them, the Buws.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 01:01 PM) Samardzija's first three batters of the season - walk, single, single. Picking up right where he left off with his first inning troubles. He was especially awful in the first inning last season.
  12. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Apr 6, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) I personally think he's got sunflower seeds in his mouth, chewing them up kinda making it look like hes unhappy. Exactly. It was after the celebration. The only guy still going nuts was Lawrie because that is what he does. What about the rest of the guys that didn't do anything as he walked past? This is nothing.
  13. The Tribune has some photos. The board looks really clear.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) I say the players just aren't good base stealers. Eaton anyway. I know he was working on some sort of positioning with his feet this spring. At least he was caught basically trying to get too good of a jump.
  15. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 01:07 PM) Well, we have no excuses for more horse s*** running. So who are you blaming, and who needs to be fired now?
  16. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 12:46 PM) As usual you're so bogged down in pedantry that you miss the point: the Sox were by far, the worst running team in MLB last year. The metrics don't lie, neither does the eye test. Who was the baserunning coach last year? Vince Coleman. He was the coach of a league worst running offense. Fire him. Do you even know if Vince Coleman is with the team? Even if he is and is with the team, getting picked off wouldn't be on him. Maybe the first base coach, but it really would be on the player. In both instances it appeared the runners were going on first move and got burned although Lawrie if he could have kept his leg down would have been safe. But if you want to blame baserunning mistakes on a coach and not the players, you probably are going to continue to have the same problems. Guys getting picked off really wasn't as offensive as some of the baserunning last season. You have to be aggressive. You can't run the bases scared, especially the guys who can run. If Adam Eaton is petrified about being picked off, he isn't going to be able to steal bases.
  17. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) I want to see less f***ing running into outs, especially, ffs, when Jose Abreu is at the plate. If vince coleman is somehow still on this staff he should be fired. So it would be Vince Coleman's fault someone gets picked off?
  18. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 5, 2016 -> 12:01 PM) Go to Shinnicks before the game and get a beer. They'll give you a parking pass if you ask for it. It's a few blocks to walk to the stadium with an easy exit after the game. Shinnicks is good. Pretty much any business will let you use a temp pass if you go there for a beer or burger or something. Also, it's a little bit of a walk but Michigan Ave. around 35th has free street parking. I've only done it maybe 3 or 4 times, but there are always spots
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:59 PM) How did he not get an error on that? They gave it to the 1B.
  20. Semien didn't get the error but he made a bad play.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) Anyone know if Gray is starting tomorrow? Stone said that was the plan.
  22. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Miguel Gonzalez's deal doesn't include an opt-out. He's headed straight to Triple-A Charlotte. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/717140969875845120 No opt out shocks me.
  23. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 4, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) The good news is: we have a different team then most years and I think we can have more success against these types of pitchers. The other good news is the guy most similar to Hill, Hill himself, hasn't been very good against the White Sox in the past
  24. When Alexei went away, Avi became the longest tenured position player.
