  1. Maddon pitched to Goldschmidt last night. Cubs lose. OMG,
  2. Everyone is so upset with Danks. The Sox scored 1 run, that means to win he would have had to give up 1 run or less which Sale, Quintana, and Rodon also failed to do. Teams lose baseball games. Even great ones lose more than 60.
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) I really think Jackson should move to leadoff or the 2 hole for the time being Yeah Eaton has really sucked
  4. If this was 20-25 years ago, his career as anything but a DH might be in question, but I think he will be OK. I hate the Cubs, but this is not happy news for me. I hope he recovers fully. I want the Cubs to lose every game they play, and really wouldn't mind if Schwarber sucked. But I am anti injury.
  5. It is the 25th Anniversary of the park. Maybe they are trying to re-create the 16-0 shellacking the very first game of the park. Black Jack was awful.
  6. QUOTE (ron883 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 03:39 PM) I'm not entirely sure why Rollins is entitled to all this play time when he is coming off of an awful season and has very diminished range at SS. I simply don't support starting somebody his age at SS. The Sox have an above average defensive SS in saladino. He had a good spring and has had minor league success. Does anybody argue that Jimmy Rollins provides more on field value? Screw veteran entitlement. Play the player who helps the team more. Thought? Does Jimmy ride the pine soon? You are already b****ing about a guy who won a game for the White Sox 4 games into the season? 3-1, be happy.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) People seriously were wondering why fans wanted to wait until tomorrow to go instead of Opening Day? Im not paying big money to see John Danks suck. I don't think anyone was wondering. They may be wondering what you are thinking when you look at the attendance figures for both games. This one sold out.
  8. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 03:17 PM) The same group of guys that said they had to get rid of Thibs to they can have more cohesion as a group. They are beyond a joke when it comes to management. Great "basketball guys" but absolute train wrecks of managers. I like Pax, but his work hasn't produced what was hoped, and getting physical with VDN was really out of line. If he left, no big loss. Gar has to go now. He a pox on the organization. Point taken on the coaching choices and their reason to dump Thibs not exactly lining up.
  9. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) Lowest of low type of sports fan? Really? For hoping Arrieta goes down for the year with an arm injury? Why should I be upset or feel sorry for Arrieta if this were to happen? Please explain. I wish Arietta would shave his beard. It looks so fake to me. I want to pull it off.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) I know everyone wants to blast them for the Thibs debable, but let's not forget who gave him his first head coaching job when no one else would. Yes, Jerry Reinsdorf. Gar wanted Lawrence Frank.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) If that is the case are his catching days pretty much done? I guess it would depend. I believe Carlton Fisk had knee surgery back when he was a real young player, and that is when you used to get a zipper on your knee. He probably shouldn't catch anyways. Edit. Fisk tore his knee up in 1974. They have better surgical techniques and rehab now than back then. He played another 20 years. So catching should be fine from a knee perspective, but if his bat is that valuable, unless he is a top of the line defensive guy who handles pitchers really well, why have him take the beating?
  12. I think this being the first time in 61 years both the Sox and Cubs started out 2-0 is incredible. Even if you have a horrid team you could start out 2-0.
  13. I work downtown and got back from lunch 20 minutes ago. It isn't raining or snowing, and it's cold, but not shivering cold. Unless some accumulating snow or some pouring rain is coming, there will be baseball.
  14. Well the good news for the Cubs fan is the Cubs planned for Schwarber's injury according to the Tribune. That is probably why they traded Coughlin for nothing.
  15. If they were going to cancel it in advance, I think it would be called by now.
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) There isn't. Danks, at his best, is going to be the 4th best starter on the team and no 4th starter is worth a QO. Not only that, Danks becomes a 5 and 10 guy after this season. If he came back, he would have full no trade protection. This is it for Johnny Danks. Hopefully he can silence the critics at least a little bit.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2016 -> 08:52 AM) Those ankle ligaments could be in bad shape but I am not sure they would come out and say that. Isn't a sprain techinically a ligament tear? Obviously there are differences in the degree of the tear, but a bad sprain is still a pretty bad injury. It just doesn't sound so bad.
  18. DRose is going to workout hard this summer. Contract time.
  19. Starlin Castro's 7 RBI in first 2 games of the season is most by a Yankee ever in season's first 2 games.
  20. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) I'm not really concerned with the speeds as long as it is working for him. Just posting so people know where his velocity is at. It has been has high as 91 in the first and 85 in the 3rd. If he can change his speed that much he can be successful I don't think his arm strength is top notch right now, but I do think he really was a 90-92 guy his last couple of successful seasons.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) You are the kind of fan who always thinks it's early in the season, IMO. Then eventually season is ova. Why do you care so much that some of us are negative? This team has sucked for several years now. Some of us are more impatient. Who cares ultimately? Because if you are negative now with the team 2-1 playing decently, what could actually make you happy during the season? First nitpick over who they keep as the 25th guy, and then when they do use the bench, complain they are using the bench. Every little thing. Why can't you just enjoy the game? It always comes back to but. The Sox won but, he's hitting well and looks like he's improved but, he is pitching well but, to each his own but to me that's kind of miserable.
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:21 PM) 87 MPH fastball. If this was 15 years ago and the pitch speed wasn't on the screen, all anyone would be concerned with is the actual results.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:19 PM) Baseball has changed so much the last few years. Now with such lack of power it's like the old days when pitchers were way ahead of the hitters early in the season. Should have traded for Jay Bruce. 2 homers today. Hitting .500 on the season. On pace for one of the greatest seasons of all time.
  24. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) How do you guys determine pitches to be junk? The velocity isn't there but it's not like they are launching rockets like they did off Rodon. Yeah, the velocity isn't as big with him. IIRC, he actually threw a little harder last season than 2014 and there was talk of huge long term contracts, and it wasn't 95.
