  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) [/b] Why would it be for disciplinary reasons? You strike out, you sit. Of course, the White Sox would have some roster problems if they actually had that idea. Avi is messed up. He was 2 for 3 with 2 homers vs. Shoemaker coming in.
  2. I took a lap around the park last night and have never seen so many stands closed. About the only stands open in the OF were the ones underneath the fan deck in CF and the new Beggars spot. Everything else, shut down. And a lot of stands were closed on the main concourse.
  3. On the board last night they had a number where Avi hit .349 his first 23 games with the White Sox. Just another reminder of fun with small sample sizes. Chances are Avi will have a hot streak eventually, but that won't mean he's fixed, nor does a slump by guys like Abreu mean the league has caught up to him. Avi probably isn't any good, but he isn't as bad as he has been the last few days.
  4. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) Uhh... while I could agree with Dick that Danks is likely to see more starts. Comparing Sale having a couple bad outings... to Danks having a couple bad outings is not the same thing (the rest of their body of work is vastly different) So yeah Michael Jordan has a couple of bad games... I'm likely to give him more leeway. Some other much less talented player, with much less history of production doesn't automatically get the same buffer for bad play. So yeah, while I agree with Dick in one sense... the example was flawed. I wasn't comparing them as pitchers. I was just pointing out that even Chris Sale has 2 or 3 or 4 bad starts in a row. Dans is going to have them. As will his replacements. If 5th starter types only get 11 bad innings, you might set a roster record.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 02:02 PM) I don't think Danks has that long of a leash honestly. Some media guys have even mentioned it. I think he gets like 5-6 more starts as well but if he pitches like this all year, they won't keep trotting him out there. 5 or 6 more starts makes sense. Not now. EJ has been not so good. Gonzalez was horrid last year and rabbit posted his advanced numbers vs. Danks since 2012 were about the same. Maybe Turner will be ready to go in a while but right now the alternatives aren't better. If he continues to have trouble every start, he will be replaced. But after 2 is kind of silly unless there was an obvious upgrade just sitting there.
  6. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) I feel like Dick Allen is the world's most long game troll. From the guy who was moaning about Adam Eaton's supposed spring training body language....priceless.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:19 PM) This is horrible logic. So what is the sound logic? Replace Danks with EJ or Gonzalez who have been worse recently? The fact is, your #5 starter isn't going to be stellar every time out. He is going to be awful at times. Even top pitchers are awful some nights.
  8. QUOTE (sammy esposito @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) the only positive thing I have to say is he pitched well in spring training which doesn't count. There is a long line of spring training all stars that haven't done much when they games actually count.
  9. Matt Davidson in 2 years and about a week and a half as a Charlotte Knight, has fanned 373 times. That is 4 more times than Joe DiMaggio fanned in 13 seasons as a Yankee.
  10. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 12:30 PM) That could change if Danks clanks another outing. I really doubt it. Danks has had 2 rough starts. Chris Sale is an ace and he has had 2 rough starts in a row. Last year he had a 4 game stretch where he pitched 23 innings gave up 35 hits and 20 runs in 4 starts, and in 2 starts in 10 1/3 gave up 18 hits and 14 runs. Danks isn't as good as he is. He is expected to have some clunkers.
  11. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 12:25 PM) I wonder if he will be starting in Danks place. He's here to pick up innings. Not join the rotation.
  12. Booing Carlos Rodon was silly. I am pretty sure every major league baseball player has had a bad game or two. Of course I remember when the fanbase booed Frank Thomas. If a guy isn't trying, fine. But seriously, if players are always supposed to succeed, you are watching the wrong sport.
  13. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) Erik Johnson called up. They needed someone who could go multiples. I thought maybe Kahnle as he has gone 2, but this one makes sense. If for whatever reason Latos doesn't go long tonight, EJ is going to be out there even if he is getting battered.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 09:41 AM) Sands doesn't have any minor league options. Shuck does. So who gets called up? Could be any of: Charlotte relievers: Kahnle, Smith, Marin Charlotte starters to work in relief: Turner, Johnson (due to start today), Gonzalez BHAM: Ynoa Wouldn't be Volstad who just pitched last night. Wouldn't be Beck who is just getting back in a groove from his surgery. I'll guess one of the CHAR relievers. Kahnle makes the most sense, he's on the 40 and the closest to ready. Marin is used to longer innings so he may work, but he'd need to be added. Same with Smith. I doubt they take E Johnson off his routine. Ynoa maybe an outside shot. I think Ynoa pitched last night, so I doubt it will be him. I would think it's Kahnle or EJ. If Latos doesn't go long tonight they may need EJ to be the sacrificial lamb. Kudos to the relievers only giving up 2 last night.
  15. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 09:22 AM) No kidding, I just kept staring at that green dot everytime I looked at the count. I tried to ignore it myself, but I couldn't, just focused right on it. Of course it didn't help it was pretty much center cut.
  16. The taxpayers got screwed on the new CF scoreboard. There was a big green dot in the middle of it last night. Falling apart 3 games in.
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 10:22 PM) Lefty, speedy, good defense.....and he gets sent down in favor of Sands....sigh. I like JB but he doesn't have a hit and had a real bad misplay in LF. I don"t think he being in Charlotte is going to cost the Sox a shot at the playoffs.
  18. It is interesting now Jimmy is the hero because Noah and DRose have been able to skip drills and practice. I thought one of the knocks on Thibs was he practiced too hard. There is so much crap out there it makes you realize it is the NBA and who knows what is true? I will say, I do trust what Sam Smith writes and know he is friends with JR. If he is bagging Jimmy, Jimmy might need a real estate agent.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) Maybe that same person can talk to Derrick Rose about giving a s*** again. I agree. I still think no matter what, DRose has to go. IMO, they aren't going to win with him. Another whose own agenda is far more important than the team's.
  20. Maybe he can get back to it, but sometimes you can't go back. Someone needs to tell him, he isn't curing illness, he isn't solving world hunger, he isn't educating kids, he isn't fixing climate problems, he puts a ball in a basket for a living. Really isn't all that noble when you think about it.
  21. Sort of bizarre as Jimmy used to be the opposite.
  22. On Saturday, Bulls.com reporter Sam Smith told Jason McIntyre on FOX Sports Radio that Butler has a “colossal ego” and isolates himself from his teammates. “He’s really kind of full of himself,” Smith said. “He hangs around with Mark Wahlberg, the actor, and lets us know about that a lot. He goes around to premiers or whatever. He announced before the season that he’s the leader of the team and guys are looking around going, ‘What are you talking about?’ “It’s a really weird dynamic. He doesn’t like to socialize with the other players. Back in November they had a team bonding thing. They all chartered a bus and went up to wine country for the day. The only one who didn’t go was Jimmy.”
  23. If Elliott winds up being a HOF-type guy, anyone thinking picking him in the first round isn't such a good idea, will change their mind. If he's just solid, it's pretty much a waste. I just don't see not offering Forte a contract, and then drafting Elliott as making much sense.
  24. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Um, newsflash - nobody is questioning where the team is in the standings today on April 18th. What a few of the more thoughtful posters are simply questioning is whether with this anemic offense if the team will be able to maintain this position going forward. In other words, with the league's worst offense at the moment, will you be able to claim in big, bold words on May 18th that the Sox are in first place? June 18th? September 18th? That's all people are wondering about right now, and it's a legitimate concern. If you'd stop with the constant scolding of others around here you might have time to realize this yourself. I love how you refer to posters complaining when the Sox are winning as "thoughtful". Just remember, the one exciting season you claim the White Sox have had probably in 100 years, included 15 regular season wins scoring 2 runs or less. This year there has been 1. I just wonder when margin of victory become so important in MLB.
