SOA having a really good season. Last night was a great episode.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Nov 20, 2013 -> 09:18 AM) Not quite sure how this story has eluded me for over a year, but I'm so thankful to have found it. http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012...arged-with-dui/ Who was going to drive the bird or the zebra? He should have told the cops he was doing promo work the upcoming Noah's Ark movie.

Dunn and cash for an average, everyday LHH player. Pure guess. Someone will see a need for a Dunn skill-set at the right price. De Aza, Dunn and cash could really interest teams.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 19, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) I hadn't heard this story either until the other day. http://io9.com/5908829/a-73+year+old-man-t...ull-of-dynamite I love that the guy gets out of the insane asylum and is allowed to torment the guy that saved the president's life. Ah simpler times.

It was the right call as the ball was under thrown. The defender contacted Gronk but did not impede his path to the ball. It was essentially uncatchable which is why they came together and waved it off. It was a bad pass and brady was fishing for a call. Also the 13% trestman was talking about stands throughout the whole series. In the end the odds are they will not score there. The bend but don't break philosophy.

Theo will grab him. -
This makes pretty solid sense to me and explains why I will never be an NFL head coach, among many reasons, http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,7332934.story

Pre-Winter Meetings Best Course of Action
Harry Chappas replied to Marty34's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Only person in a better position if the White Sox sell are the sellers, not the fans or the buyers. If you do not think this is the case look up north where the debt on that team is stifling. Now if papa ameritrade wants to give sonny Ameritech some Ameritrade assets, you have a different story. What can happen is the White Sox can leverage some worth in the hopes that such leveraging (increased spending) will increase cash flow, which I think is Marty's point, this was the All In mantra, it did not work so they are pulling back somewhat since that failed experiment, and while not blowing things up like the ivy covered genius squad they are modeling their plan differently. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 11:56 AM) I'm glad they went for some back story with the Governor, but that was still a pretty boring hour. It will be interesting how it plays out as the Govenor as the villain to Rick land has already played out. Maybe Carol comes into play. I thought the episode itself was intriguing but was one of those episodes that Lost made famous as it was needed to set up a future story arc.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) How can anyone conclude the defense would be worse if Lovie were here? That is just total BS. Because there would be no offense to pick up the slack.

Christ how did Purdue get so bad. I knew they were bad but did not realize that were that bad. -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 18, 2013 -> 08:57 AM) Oh, not the let's get rid of Cutler for McCown talk. It is not get rid of Cutler, it is, is Cutler who will hopefully play 12 games for you a season as he is injured often, worth the contract he will be looking for and will likely receive. He will be looking at 13-15M a year. I still can not figure out how Trestman was never given a head coaching job. Mel Tucker is earning his money and the defense is looking serviceable. If the Loveman was running that defense with those injuries it would be a really bad state of affairs right now.

Is NIU any less worthy of making a BCS game than the Big East Champion or in certain years the ACC championship. I remember seeing some sub-par teams making BCS Bowl games from those conferences. NIU had a loss last year, making the BCS this year would be more acceptable than last year. -
Gotta tell ya SOA is having a nice season. The prequel would be good because it goes back to them working the bulls*** jobs, see Bobby Elvis, things early on that made the show different that were cool.

With Abreu Signing; Konerko Not Out
Harry Chappas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Don't be surprised if Adam Dunn plays a lot more left field if Konerko were to come back. Dunn is in a contract year and his ability to at least be serviceable out there could mean a lot to him and the White Sox moving forward/moving him at the deadline. Viciedo can move to right from time to time, I think he played there previously, and then you have 5 guys in the mix, you put Garcia in CF and you DeAza in this mix as well. See it all works out. The defense may suck but it sucks already. Viciedo, Dunn, Garcia, Koneko, and Abreu has some serious thump to it. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 11:35 AM) I think he meant the series would start 2 years after SOA ended Sorry yes, 2 year hiatus after next season and then start up with the John Teller/Clay days.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 07:56 AM) This is how the last process with his legs started in 2011/2012. and most likely how it will go for the remainder of his career. The Bulls have way too many players that are injury prone.

Kurt Sutter was on Howard Stern this morning and he is hoping to make a show called Original 9 the prequel to SOA. I would begin two years after SOA ended. Sounds liek soem pretty cool stuff. Gotta dig a 70's motorcycle club show.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 08:15 AM) It costs the Bears something like $7 million to cut him. I thought the re-work prior to the season got them out of that?

Official Recruiting Thread II

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 08:42 PM) "Big Cliff's HS coach saying it's 50-50 Illinois and DePaul with a school likely being cut tomorrow? Kansas or Memphis cut tomrorrow?" I have this bad, bad feeling he's going to pick DePaul. And I'm going to f***ing lose my s***. THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE The new DePaul arena in the south Loop, if it is built, is an Archer bus ride from Curie. I grew up by Curie high school, odd part of Chicago, BTW. Don't kid yourself if DePaul uses that location correctly it could get them better players especially from the south and west side. It hasn't worked for UIC but I do not think they really want it to work there. I am not really sure that is the best thing for those kids either. -
The frustrating thing is that McCown has played fine. That was a winnable game and early in the second half when the groin tightened up there was no reason to not make the move. First year coach issue maybe?

Jed was on the radio this morning tell us how great Ricky is. They are looking at short term stop gaps until the magic that is their farm system turn into the Kansas City Royals.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) Like every team in the country. Show me one top 5 team that hasnt lost a serious impact player at this point. Northwestern does not get deep enough talent to overcome injuries, it will always be their story. This is the case in most schools that are not in the top 15 recruiting classes annually. You can not win a football game if you are not talented enough. You do not have the goalie to stand on their head, the pitcher or point guard to carry the team. You need deep talent and then coaching or hope like hell you stay very healthy. This is why NU starts out good and then tappers off annually. -

Clemson was thought of so highly after beating Georgia to open the season. Georgia and the SEC has since proven to be decent at best. FSU is always an ESPN favorite from the early days, they, like Notre Dame are programs that fans seem to get behind and are pumped up by ESPN. I am not certain why OSU is now treated the way they are as I would think they would be getting the publicity they get. I suppose it is because the the Big Ten is just not that highly thought of. -
Who willl win the Boras/Jay-Z agent war?
Harry Chappas replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 7, 2013 -> 04:57 PM) Sheffield had better bat speed. Actually, with CAA as part of the team, Jay-Z has at least a 25-50% chance of making a huge impact. That and the continuing deterioration of African-Americans playing the sport, despite all the best efforts of the RBI Program. If nothing else, Jay-Z might have some impact there (then again, it's not like there are 25 African-American golfers who are in the Top 100 junior pipeline because of Tiger Woods, which a lot of people thought would or could happen).... Easy to throw a baseball hard to get to a golf course and pay a greens fee.
