  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 09:22 AM) lolwut? The other team hits a 61 yard field goal with almost a minute left, the Lions had all their timeouts, and their franchise QB throws a pick to end it, but they deserve to win? What kind of entitled bulls*** is that? Matthew Stafford s*** the bed all night long and that play calling was horrendous. Megatron got drilled all night long.
  2. Jay Cutler, your table is ready, time to make your hay young fella. If the Bears beat the crap teams they should have under McCown the division would be sealed and Jay would be in the playoffs. Alas, this did not happen but thanks to the Lions, the division is there. They have to beat two good teams and then we will all see what the Bears are. This is great thing for this season. We know the offense can compete with anyone. Now we shift focus to the defense who hopefully gets Lance Briggs back. Tillman for the playoffs would have made things interesting if Ratliff continues to improve. The NFC North is bad because of injuries and the Lions. The Lions should have iced this thing a couple of weeks back. If the Giants beat the Lions and the Packers beat the Steelers, Sunday night's game is meaningless.

    QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) xylophone stars? yep
  4. I disagree in the idea that just because the Sox are not going to compete, they do not need a bullpen. I think it becomes disheartening to lose games especially those that the team should win, because of a crap bullpen. I ma not saying to trade or sign a $10M closer but guys like Lidstrom and Crain are good pieces to have out there. Winning is a good thing even if you are young. Experienced pen guys can also help younger guys figure it out which mostly likely helped Jones and Reed. Crain makes a ton of sense in that regard.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) Curling is good, I like most of the Winter Olympics though. Luge, etc its all good fun. Luge, except for men's double, is cool. Why they have men's doubles but not women's doubles seems odd. Women's doubles luge, or mixed doubles would be hot.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 03:14 PM) Indeed. I'm not criticizing the deal, I think this is a fantastic deal for sox and a move we have to make. I was only responding to the "What the hell was Kevin Towers thinking!?" posts. But this deal will be much less impressive if he ends up having to move to DH, LF or 1b. Towers is in a win now/still cost conscious mode and when he got Trumbo he needed to move Davidson. Obviously he and Hahn had good discussions and in the end the trade goes; Reed, Santiago, Jacobs for Davidson and Eaton
  7. QUOTE (dayan024 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 01:39 PM) Bruce Levine ‏@MLBBruceLevine 1m Expect a few veterans to be traded by the White Sox . Dunn ,DeAza Ramirez all possible trade candidates for right almost ready players. Nothing gets by ole Bruce.
  8. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) I think they should get Crain for closing duties. Crain not pitching every day would be a really good pick up. Has Thorton signed?
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) Just looking at his numbers I'm immediately worried about the strikeouts. The White Sox simply don't have a good history of turning guys with 100+ strikeouts in minor league seasons into quality big leaguers. If his strikeouts go up a little as a big leaguer we'd be talking about a guy K-ing 175 times and so far he doesn't have the HR numbers to be productive doing that. That could change of course, but we will see. That's why I'm not 100% fawning right now, there's a real risk in his numbers that you can't overlook. Anyone know anything about his defense? If he can stay at around 130 K per season, play average defense and put up an .830 OBP at third, this trade is a steal. The K's are an issue but the OBP looks good and he was young for every level he was at.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) I had no issue with trading Addy but I wanted the right return. This may be just a little less than I was hoping for but it also is at a position where this franchise could seriously benefit from an upgrade. He's also exceptionally young and, assuming he makes the roster this year (which I'm not sure about right now) he's under team control through 2020. Replacing Addison Reed is a lot easier to do than getting a 3B. Look at the free agent pool for 3B and closers, you can always create a closer, see Grilli, Jason or even pull one out of your ass. It is extremely tough to find a third-baseman. Hahn is rebuilding on the fly here and it looks like he knows what he is doing.
  11. Wow, looks like a god move by the Sox.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 12:49 PM) Party pooper, every time. Quintessential to every conversation is a point, except on soxtalk.
  13. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) The curling girls are always cute. In a woman's PBA kind of way
  14. The way Conte is playing would love for Tillman to come back at free safety as Bowman has not been noticed which is a good thing. I knwo that is video game stuff but I would still like to see it. Cutler played good yesterday, the offense is till not fluid under him as it takes forever for the play to get in and the formation set up. The false start on Jeffrey was blamed on Cutler. I think he had a good day but, getting back to his pocket presence I am still wondering how flawed the previous systems were the coaches, Jay or both.
  15. I made my family watch Curling on Thanksgiving. I love it. The fact the athletes are working stiffs makes it interesting as does whatever it is that gets it going. I love the Olympics.
  16. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 16, 2013 -> 09:07 AM) Matt Flynn wins in Dallas. Something Favre and Rodgers couldn't do. Matt Flynn is going to end up having a really weird career. Funny how systems and coaches can make players better or at least get the most out of their potential. Safe to say he has a job in Green Bay for the next five years. Minnesota seems to have figured some things out. That last Sunday of the season could be epic in the NFC Norris.
  17. Delay of game penalty and bad int..... Defense is s***show

Every Sunday my roommate and I would cook a turkey Brest make stove top and box of potatoes. Only real meal of the week.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) I saw that coming the second he set his keys on the counter. When she wanted to leave and he said she was blocked in I told my wife that she was going to take his truck. Why not? I don't see any reason he wouldn't be. I thought it was his decision as an actor to not come back which is why he can ride off into the sunset. That was what I thought but i could be wrong, and I hope I am.
  21. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 03:09 PM) It might be, but it's not going to prove anything. Being a bad parent doesn't equate to negligence or an actionable cause of action. The defense was that the parents were negligent in the raising of their child and he killed four people. I assume the parents were called to testify and thus this can be used against them in a court of law by the victims parents.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 12, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) What are you specifically talking about? "You can't leave, your car is boxed in," oh, I'll leave my keys here and go to the bathroom for you. That was dumb. Watched again with the wife lat night, still a good show and looking forward to see how it ends. I do not think Nero is back next year.
  23. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) Because the parents said so. The defense's case at trial was basically "this kid is a spoiled moron who gets whatever he wants and has no understanding of consequences because his parents never taught him." The defense was the parents caused this to happen thus if the parents of the victims have the fiscal resources it could get really messy. They appeared to let the kid drive at 13 and allowed him to drink....

Please no more discussion of desecrated pantalones.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 13, 2013 -> 10:02 AM) I don't know why anyone would want to coach in Washington if you had just about any other choice. It is going to end fairly quickly and really ugly. Look at what Shanahan is set to make next year.
