  1. Just purchased four tix for the Soldier Field game $200 each, not sure if I am happy about this or not.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 6, 2013 -> 11:03 PM) They really have been cruising along, but things should get more interesting now when they stop playing the s***ty Eastern Conference and Winnipeg. Still way to thin at center although I suppose just about every team is.
  3. Also Hunter Hillemeyer was on the radio earlier this week and said Olin Krutz made it really hard to come to work everyday.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 6, 2013 -> 05:12 PM) Someone should explain to Marshall about how important it is that black folks took ownership of that word. It's a big part of overcoming oppression. I think it is best if it dies out eventually, but it is a significant piece of taking back your own identity. Sounded like that was his point in referring to it.
  5. Pretty much says it all. http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/...-not-built-last It really is amazing that the organization is willing to say four years of a team that you follow means nothing. Sorry I watch sport for entertainment and losing 100 games is not entertaining. I understand the goal of the franchise is to win the championship but on a daily basis I like my team to be worth watching because at the end of the day my life is the same whether they win or lose. It is those days that I am looking to be entertained that I want the White Sox to be interesting. Sorry but I will take every year to be like 2012 than 4 years of 100 losses and then hope that there will be sustained success. No team has done it that way and I have no reason to believe the cub will.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 6, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) It's their mistake/fault. Big company like that. I've worked in retail around a decade and we always had to honor typos, etc. it's basic customer service. Not the customers fault. The consumer pays for it one way or another be it a lower dividend of stock or higher prices next time around. I hate Wallmart I think it is a flea market.
  7. Youth sports unfortunately has become a very dark and seedy environment if your child has any talent whatsoever. Baseball is the worst. 90% of the coaches involved in the upper tiers of travel baseball are folks you would not want to associate with on the baseball diamond. Whether it is berating or belittling their players or using the rules to their advantage to gain the upper hand.

While SOA has been simply watchable this season last night was a pretty good episode.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 11:55 PM) At this point, I don't want Jay to rush back. It doesn't help the team and it does him no good. Cutler has missed a lot of games in his career due to injury. In the past he was the only option. The bears need to see what he can do in this system as this is finally a real NFL offense.
  10. Trestman knows how to coach. If jay is not back next week and the bears win, things will get interesting. That last drive was amazing. Decamillis sucks.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) I was having this conversation with my roommates this week: if you could pick one player to start a franchise with, who would it be? We were basically all torn between Luck, Wilson and Rodgers. Rodgers case closed there is no further discussion. Carry on.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 07:54 AM) Thank you to the posters here who said that Eastbound & Down was back. Season 1 was obviously a great joy, 2 was a downer, and I didn't get into season 3. I started season 4 this weekend, and it's f***ing hilarious. I watched season 3 over the weekend. It was ok Stevie was almost to creepy to watch that whole season.
  13. Haugh in the Trib had him as the cubs guy with the Red Sox bench coach
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) Great. Now which of the top 6 should we demote to Charlotte? That's my problem with this team. I'm great with the top 6...but we only can run a 5 man rotation, and after the last couple years of destroying pitchers this way I'm going to scream if we try to send one of them to the bullpen again. That's why I lean towards the sign floyd as a backup and trade one starter away move. All 6 deserve to be in the bigs in April next year., A little more time at AAA for Rienzo, Beck and Johnson would not hurt anyone. Rienzo needs to work on being more efficient and Johnson and Beck are in no hurry.
  15. Chances Nieves is the next Sox manager...
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) (The White Sox brought Steve Perry to their world series parade). Yes but Journey is an iconic band that has no relation to the city of Chicago at all and Steve Perry is cool
  17. You know what turns me off about the Red Sox is that they need to have some shtick they can't just play, Fear the Beard, The Idiots, Sweet Caroline, just play the f***ing game. I like that Peavy got a ring.
  18. The winds of discontent in the valley of the minion are beginning to blow. Point brought up on radio is that ole Tom may not have the open checkbook he promised Theo. Abreu and Garcia are two MLB selling points for this offseason. The minion had Joe but he said it wasn't so. Oh and Boston seems to be just fine without the Boy Wonder.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 12:33 PM) I think they also felt a fall guy was necessary for the regression of Castro and Rizzo. I think once it started to break down, management and Sveum's relationship deteriorated, but they also felt Girardi was in the bag The arrogance of that clown car organization is amazing
  20. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 08:56 PM) Next time I apply for a job, I'm going to tell my superiors that my performance will be horrible compared to my peers, but that is all part of the plan. Please wait 3 years to re-evaluate. As I approach that three year mark, I'll let them know that my inferiors are really f***ing things up and I might need an extra 2-3 years. As they start to catch on, I'll spend all of my boss's money so that the results improve a little bit. It may or may not get me some short term success, but it will certainly lead to my firing. That's okay though, because I'll have made plenty of money by then. The payroll is low and Theo is the face that will allow it to stay that way until the refurbishing of the park is completed. The minion will finally get their shiny new park, cash will come in and then the cubs will have to decide if they are going to spend money or not on players. That will be about 2020, when the Cards are letting Michael Wacha leave as a free agent.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) That picture is awesome. Also, he does not look fat or out of shape at all. He looks big and muscular. He looks lean...........and handsome, I might add.
  22. Jake will be Boston Strong and bulldog home the title.
  23. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 01:02 PM) I hope he opts out and gets 20 million a year in arbitration! You need to remember he goes to arbitration if he lives up to a point where he would get a raise. It would be higher than the $7M annual but most likely closer to $11 or $12. Great deal for both teams. Signing bonus for these guys is huge.
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 10:09 AM) I hate that the Giants won 2 World Series titles because it makes people think that Sabean isn't the worst GM in the game when he clearly still takes the cake Aaron Rowand says piss off
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) 5th post in the thread. I was wondering what took so long for this post to happen, though I had a feeling it would be a different poster. So I will explain, total franchise value does not equal spending.....oh forget it. Jerry is a cheap ass mutherf***er who should sell the team to someone with deep pockets let's say hypothetically to a group that owns something like Ameritrade. They can leverage the s*** of the organization and then spend millions on players and infrastructure with the annual cash-flow that comes into the team from the ticket sales and tv money. Yes selling the team would be the answer. When $75M annually is used to pay down the debt used to pay for the team, the cash cow moves out to pasture to hang with Ronny Woo Woo rather quickly under the guise of "rebuilding" and the genius that is Theodore Epstein and his merry band of baseball savants.
