  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 09:26 AM) We know what happened to Skylar. Her life was ruined, her work was gone, her son probably hated her, and she was alone in the world. Even at the end she didn't even have her sister to talk to, without her begging to pick up the phone. She is miserable and deserted. I really think you see that it is Skylar that does not want to talk Marie and you would think that in time that would work out. The $9M comes into everyone's life and things move on. I thought the ending was perfect. They even got Badger and Skinny Pete into the action. Really tied things up tremendously well.
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 01:36 PM) They knew where they ultimately wanted to go with Walt, but most of the episode plots evolved over the course of a season, e.g. Jesse was supposed to die in Season 1. I did not mean they literally had every script written I just meant the story arc was completed. I really hope that the Walking Dead has an end point
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 27, 2013 -> 09:08 AM) I'd say more like 20% I still think they tried to make too many episodes of Lost . The good thing about Breaking bad is there was always an end point and better yet the entire story was completed before the series even began shooting. Lost, lost its way by trying to be quasi-sci-fi and tehn kind of drifted away.
  4. The thing about Lost was it was 121 episodes long. Breaking bad is in total 62 episodes. Lost was expected to churn out more content and in such the writing really suffered. Seinfeld for me as Rock put it is right there in the conversation. Also the Sopranos and Wire were on channels without commercials and allowed more edgy language and explicit opportunities.
  5. Don Kessinger Eric Soderholm Richard Dotson (I assume Hoyt was a star) Bob James Gary Redus Ellis Burks Mike Sirotka Danny Wright Jeff Liefer (only because he hit a huge homer at a game I was at)
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 12:01 PM) nah it's true. It's a good show but people calling it the greatest of all time and putting it next to the Wire and Sopranos are so far off. It's closer to something like Homeland. Over the top, unrealistic when you stop and think, and completely ridiculous at times but you'll still enjoy it if you turn your brain off for an hour a week. It is still great TV. I watched the entire series of the Wire over the summer. It was a great show but it had some slower moments that Breaking Bad does not. There was nothing as gripping to bring you back week after week like Breaking Bad does.
  7. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) I'm a complete loser because I've never watched Breaking Bad and I don't have a DVR. I have enough trouble keeping up with SOA and Under the Dome. BB right now makes all other television a waste of time. I like Hell on Wheels and SOA and both are having good seasons but BB is on another level. Last show like that was early Lost seasons. BB builds early then tappers off a little but now is better than ever.
  8. Gomez apology was very good and in the interview after the game you could see he felt sorry.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 05:11 PM) For the complete losers out there who haven't watched Breaking Bad, AMC is doing a 5 day marathon of all 5 seasons in order starting tonight at 7pm CST. Set those DVRs. Sat and watched a few early episodes last night. Forgot all about he Crazy Eight informant thing.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 25, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) The two handed baseball swing and the spear were just bad. I don't get how that is only three games. Tell me how that isn't worse than some of the other actual hockey plays on big hits that result in longer suspensions. John Scott was not injured. The best part of the video is Scott patting the linesman on the back, basically saying ok we're done.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 24, 2013 -> 03:55 PM) Oh come on... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baske...0,2802637.story All about marketing. Now everyone needs to get a King James jersey. Brilliant really although it kind of makes the league look bush to normal people that will not run out and get a Truth jersey. Remember when the XFL did this.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 10:24 AM) Remember, the Bulls had the longest sellout streak in sports despite a guaranteed mugging on the way back to your car. Just part of the price of admission if you want to take your family to see Benny & the gang. It's Benny & The Jets
  13. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) This rotoworld report for Jacoby Jones is hilarious on so many levels... Jacoby Jones suffers head injury in altercation with a stripper. A. Stripper Party Bus B. McKinnie is on bus and was on party boat C. Uncooperative with police D. Hit with oversized champagne bottle The good news at least there was not an NFL player drinking and driving the bus....hopefully Cosmo Kramer was driving All we need is a couple of players packing heat and a little dope on the party bus.
  14. Went to see the Eagles Friday. Great show, started with the slower stuff and then at the end they kind of let Joe Walsh take over. First hour was songs and stories. Very cool Metallica was on Howard Stern this morning, very good interview
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 10:47 AM) I had to explain to a bunch of Charlestonian's why Chicago wasn't Detroit after this story popped up last week. They seemed amazed when I told them all of this violence is basically centered in two small areas of the city, well away from the real $$. I also explained how it was my belief that the mayor, city council, county board, etc. are all "in" on never actually attacking this problem because if they did the violence would spread into more desirable places in the city, and then we really would end up like Detroit. People/businesses would leave for the burbs and the City would die. I still say call the national guard in with shoot to kill orders. That's the only way you stop this cycle of violence. This is hitting all parts of the city. Not to the magnitude of the shooting last week. If Rahm can get money from Obama, this all can be covered with a saturation of police coverage.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 10:10 AM) Who gives a s*** if he's a really good guy? His fists still hurt and he can ruin a career, especially a star who is about to earn a lot of money next offseason. That's a good point and that second slash was definitely excessive. I just don't think he's the one bad guy or "coward" in all of this. He was put on the ice to defuse the situation, yet Scott still went after him which isn't supposed to happen. Players don't just drop the gloves and beat the s*** out of the other guy if they are not looking to drop the gloves also. All Kessel had to do was skate away from Scott and it would have been over. Scott would not have jumped on him and started pounding him. Using his stick a second time, later after everything had cooled down was the real bush league move.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 09:08 AM) That is a testament to how good the writing is. They get you to feel sorry for guys like Walt and Jesse at multiple junctures. I always kind of feel sorry for Jessie.
  18. Kessel could easily have looked at him and said I ain't dropping the gloves and then Scott looks foolish. Those guys don't just drop the gloves and maul people. Especially John Scott who is a really good guy as well as a hockey goon.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 23, 2013 -> 07:45 AM) I just hope somehow Jesse comes out on top in the end. Throughout the entire show, he has just been hurt in every way, shape, & form and it still continues, just like to see something good happen for him. That was where the Andrea thing really felt forced. There really is no chance of him coming out on top now. Another innocent person killed by his doing. The last 50 minutes are going to be something.
  20. Looks like breaking bad is wrapping pretty well. The Andrea bit seemed a little much, I didn't need that but suppose it will mean something but don't see how. Paused the bear game, didn't miss a thing.
  21. QUOTE (juddling @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) After watching America's Got Talent all summer I got to say.....Mel B is f'n hot. f'able hot but Heidi is gorgeous, until she opens her mouth Show was worth watching if for no other reason than hillbillies like the show as do young girls.
  22. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 02:25 PM) The L is pretty awesome and if they did away with it, then traffic would be a nightmare. The Dan Ryan expressway (which I drive daily from start to finish) cannot agree with you enough
  23. All last night showed me was another coach (Romeo) needs to kiss Belicheck's feet for getting him a job he was not qualified for. Man that list is long and impressive.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) espnmlb ‏@espnmlb 1h Yankees' Pettitte retiring again after season: New York Yankees starter Andy Pettitte announced his retirement... http://es.pn/1eZfONn Brett Favre
  25. 10:00 on a warm night is not that crazy. The 2AM shootings of the 7 year olds are more questionable. At some point McCarthy or Rahm have to be taken to task on this. Who is going to protect the $100M park?
