  1. Why do I put myself through this s***. I turned this game on in the top of the ninth. Almost out of it....they will let me down again.
  2. Really is amazing how great s*** players kill the White Sox. This ballgame is over. Pissed away two games to make it interesting.
  3. That inning by Jenks was fantastic and then Breslow's was even better. Dye's AB was embarassing. Davis will score a run this inning.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) I'm really beginning to think Pods is our MVP this year. There is really no argument there maybe Thorton.
  5. Pena is actually worse then Dotel and Linebrink in my book FWIW. I think Carrasco should get the higher impact innings this month.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) Joe Crede was a full participant in those decisions. Every indication was the team wanted him to dump Boras and they'd have been thrilled to negotiate. Joe wouldn't do it. The team seemed to get more and more pissed with Boras with time as well, esp. when Boras's medical advice started differing from the advice of the team after 2006. Joe could probably have gotten quite a bit more money out of us after 2005 than what he earned in his career. I was not solely blaming Boras it is always the players fault.
  7. Did Scott Boras screw Joe Crede by not attempting to sign him long term? After 2005 he could have gotten a great long term deal based on his post season heroics.
  8. QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) NOTHING is dropping for a hit in RF tonight. Dye will call off Kotsay and misjudge the ball. No Rios....wow......this is not good for the next four years of that contract. Kotsay has replaced Thome is the musical chairs rotation.
  9. Bring back Garcia and put him as your number 5 and Hudson is there when/if somebody gets hurt. I think everyone will agree that Hudson potentially is much better than Garcia. I see Garcia turning into a Paul Byrd, Gil Meche type of guy that can get by with cunning and gile if he needs to forthe next few years. What is the harm in bringing Garcia back?
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 03:51 PM) He was drafted one spot before Kyle McCullough. Do you think the correct color of Sox would have taken him if he were available? No 2 through 8 are 1 for 19 with 2 walks. Banner/typical Sunday afternoon Sox. Glad to see the cub lose again though.
  11. If Quentin is hurt he should not be playing and Flowers or AJ should be the DH. If he is anything over 90%, the Sox need to really be concerned about him. I also think the Sox need to extend AJ as to avoid any clubhouse BS that seems to follow this team and really have an impact on it. Guys almost seem to like it here so much they get pissed when they leave. The Sox rotation could be awesome next year.
  12. I love this thread. Rios is an elite defender which is the Sox biggest weakness. Rios is a career .290 hitter with speed. Rios is 28. The White Sox are paying $10+M for guys that do one thing hit homers and run really slow. Some moron on Ranger's post game show compared his contract to Soriano's.....all I could say is wow. I'd hate for Paevy to get a start this year and get hit around the winter months would be unbearable especially if Dex Carter wins the Aruba winter league ERA championship.
  13. It is not a chop block it was an illiegal block below the waist by and outside reciever coming back toward the ball. A chop block is a combination block and is legal at the LOS at the snap. Either way it was a really bad play. Ray Lewis can only blow up the QB if he is participating the play. IF at the snap he is just standing there, he can not be hit. Favre is a douche.
  14. For the infastructure and infusion of funds to the city, I do not see how you could not want them..... I also think before all is said and done. The funding for an indoor stadium that the cubs and Sox will both use periodically as well will be built to get Superbowls, the Final Four and kickass monster truck rallies. Not the crap that goes on at Allstate Arena.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) Yep. That's why it is. Besides, the city is far enough away that you wouldn't see much of it, even if there weren't giant light poles, banners, three scoreboards and a fundamentals area in the way. Go up to the top level and look out at the skyline from there. It is amazing view. It would have the best view of maybe any sporting event there is on a clear day. You see the entire skyline. Real bad move.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) I will say this in the Cubs defense, I don't think they have quit. I just think they are incredibly mediocre and have been that way consistently almost all season. That is more than can be said for our guys, unfortunately. We went from mediocre to outright qutting the last couple of weeks. What have the Sox done differently that the cubs have not. Did you see Soriano yesterday...the guy ended the game swinging at three pitches that were never in the strike zone. The Sox were beaten by two of the better teams in baseball and outside of Mr. Rockie the pitching was fantastic, they just could not hit. The cub homestand went 5-5 against the Nats, Astros, Mets and Sox to say the Sox have quit but the cubs have not........I could not agree less with If the cub goes 7-3 which they should have at worst, they would be 4 out with a cupcake schedule beyond belief. In the same time the Sox have lost 5 games in the standings, the cubs have lost 10.
  17. Kotsay is a great platoon bench player but he can not hit LHP, Dye would have been good there if could play first but you do not want to give up the defense.
  18. For having a great year, Marshall is 3-7 with a 4.50 ERA....I realize ERA is bogus as Linebrink, Dotel and gas can Tony all have lower one's but I thought he was going well compared to the banterings of cub talk.
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 3, 2009 -> 03:32 PM) what a great trade that turned out to be I keep looking for the Joe Borchard threads in Diamondclub but I am not seeing them.
  20. Wow Thorton. Also would like to see a couple of runs added here so we can BRING IN DJ!!!! I think DJ and Thorton are locks going forward as far as consistentcy is concerned, which along with Jenks is about all you can ask for.
  21. I agree that Wise gives it everything he has. I hated him....no I hated the situation he was put in, earlier in the year but he has kind of worn on me. The massive contracts the cubs hold is enough to make anyone sick.
