I will agree with the Pods, Ramirez and Beckham talk in this thread but the reason the Sox are not winning more is because the abyss that is Dye, Konerko and Thome show up once a week and I am saying only one of them once a week or hit the random homerun. It has become an annual rite of passage they stop playing for months at a time.

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 08:09 AM) Cesar and I were the left side of the infield for two years at Mt. Carmel It was great to see him get his first win in the bigs. Congratulations Ceaz! Didn't the Sox pass up on him and Garza for Broadway or was Cesar picked with Kyle.

Nice inning for Pena Here comes a nice easy 1-2-3 inning with a couple of head drops and an AJ f*** should just about do the trick. -

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 10:12 PM) I suppose that's possible, given that he was handed the shortstop job for this year about half way through last year. And told he would be great at it..... Maybe he needs to fight for a job to be good. He and Contreras seem to just kind of flake out and lose any ability to play rather easily. -

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) If one of my kids had been doing well, pretty intelligent and busting his butt and looking sharp one year, then the next year seemed unmotivated and made numerous mental mistakes, I'd have to wonder what other issues were having an influence in his life. What a pitiful effort. Think Tejada will pitch the 9th.....actually anyone pitching the 9th will shut these fools down. Wow did this game go to hell in a hurry. Why do teams never seem to stop playing after three innings against the Sox? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) Alexei is going to play himself out of this organization. You never hear Hawk this vocal about someone's effort. No he won't they will move Beckham to short and Ramirez to third. He could be the dumbest player I have ever seen. -

How do the Royals ever lose? Other than looking at nine strikes this inning could not be any worse nobody seems to have a chance -

This team is just not any fun to watch. The pitching seems to give up the big hit and then the offense just goes away. There is zero consistency from one inning to the next with this team. Peavy will pitch for the Sox next week as there are no other options right now. The Royals suck yet they give the Sox everything thay can handle every game. Sadly I think tomorow could be very ugly. Oh and the Tigers beat he M's bullpen...great....the M's will be swept rather easily check out the pitching mat-ups in the next two games. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) I wouldnt want Boras representing me. A monkey can negotiate for more money and I would bet that if Strasburg had a different agent (one with a better reputation) the Nationals may have gone up to $20mil. When you look at the crazy money thrown at Japanese players (Kei Igawa, etc and thats not even counting the money going to the former Japanese team) its hard to argue with Strasburg being given that type of money. The problem is that now when teams deal with Boras they are much more likely to draw a line in the sand and not move because to many people fell for his old tricks. I know that if I was a working for a MLB team I would be much more difficult with Boras than any other agent, just because of his tendency to stretch the truth. I think Boras in this instance was a hinderance to Strasburg as Washington could just blame it on Boras setting a number that was not reasonable.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 12:08 AM) I think the Marlins are in front of them too. The Cubs would have to do a big turnaround to pull off the wildcard. The thing that's really going to get them is unlike the Cards they don't have too many days off, so the pen is going to get worked and the whole team is just not going to get much rest. Aren't Braves too??? it is going to come down to who gets hot and has the easist road..... I go with the overachieveing team to ride it out not the underachieving team to get hot.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2009 -> 10:51 PM) Does anyone revel in the wins? I posted my final thoughts in the game thread. Great game by Rios, Pods and nix Linebrink needs to be a situational guy. I have a headache after watching that game.
