  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 03:12 PM) Not nearly as painful as what happens on the field... Bye,bye second place. That happened Friday did it not? You know Stone Pony, baseball is a funny game.......a funny game indeed..........some times Stoney you just never know what will happen..........once in a while the game will surprise you, this great game of ball, when you think one thing will happen something completely opposite happens. I have been around this game for over 50 years and I see something new everyday. Sit back, relax and strap it down.
  2. 2-6 in the line-up are 1-17 without a walk McDougal was kind of treated like Vazquez was in that he didn't live up to expectations he was no worse than Linebrink has been. This entire season is a bust because of inconsistent hitting. Every pitcher needs to be perfect every time out as this team is unable to come from behind or consistently score runs after that 5th inning. I do not thin the Sox have won more than 5 games when losing after. I hope this is a wake up call for next year and Ramirez, Quentin, Rios and Beckham can turn into consistently productive hitters which none are at this point in time. I also wouldn't mind Pods being the lead-off man next year.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) It's easy to be negative lately, but Jose was throwing slop that first inning; soft slop. That does not bode well for the next time through tht order. Don't like what I saw in inning No. 1. Of course we have done nothing in 2 innings agianst their hack pitcher. What? When is 94 soft slop come on he pitched well that inning. You dod know he got Tex on a good fork ball and A-Rod on a fastball.
  4. The Nix error is an out 99% of the time s it was on the exchange. He also got he out when he picked the ball up. I like Nix though. This offense is abysmal. Mitre can only go 5 or 6 they said which means he will go 7 against this offense.
  5. This Milton Bradley thing is yet another blind media flock. He was brought he because he was a winner....yet he has never won anything and seems to piss off rather easily. He was brought in to drive in runs....yet he has never been a run producer. He is an OBP DH...the cubs sold him to their stupid fans as something he has never been and now they are blaming him for not being that. I feel a little bad for the guy as he does lead the team in OBP. He has not underproduced any worse then Soriano, Soto or Zambrano
  6. "Just missed it" "Can of Corn" His best quote of all is the frustrated silence.
  7. The insult to injury is watching the Tigers and Twins beat the bullpens (Seattle and Baltimore) that shut the White Sox out quite recently
  8. How good would they be if Jeff Francis was not hurt.
  9. and Crane Kenny's job is safe.........
  10. This season is bad because of the opportunites wasted. This team has played in a tough division in previous years and lost becasue it was tough (see 2006). They play in as bad a division as there has been in a while and they are blowing it. This team has gotten maybe 5 big hits all year if that. The predictability and complacency of this team is what is sad right now. They can not hit bullpen pitchng at all and never hit a closer. The station to station baseball is fine when you are hitting but Dye could be the worst player in baseball over the last six weeks and when the Sox get someone he b****es about it. The roller coaster of this season is getting to people I think. Jeez Gage tried to blow the team in late May and there is no bigger fan than that. We all know the Sox are the best team in the division and they are giving it away...this is 2003 all over again.
  11. Just in time to get the cubs for 6.
  12. I recall Jim H vaguly but he and fathom do not get along I take it. I think Guillen deserves a good amount of the blame for the inconsistency with this team. I am not saying he should be fired or anything but this is the first time in his tenure that I do not think he is remotly close to getting the best out of his team.
  13. Boys in Vegas put the Sox at a 3-1 dog.....
  14. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) If there is any doubt whether Peavy is ready or not, I'd pitch Jose in that game. Basically, throwing him under the bus against the Yanks with CC on the hill for them. I don't want Peavy back unless he's close to 100% and I damn sure don't want to throw Hudson to the wolves in that situation. Isn't it CC and Buerhle Friday and Gaudin on Saturday?
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:06 AM) I have a thing for guys who come in and aren't expected to do anything, but do anyway. I like underdogs I guess. My AAP's include Wassermann and Remenowsky (both NDFA), previously Sergio Miranda (13th rounder), currently Charlie Shirek (23rd round and he's doing quite well), and I'm working now to try to get an interview with Joe Serafin. I have a lot of respect for guys that find a way to succeed regardless of expectations. And I tend to loathe players who are the opposite - high talent players who don't seem to make the full effort, and don't understand what it takes to really win out. Not to mention the CJ Retherford poster above your bed.
  16. I assume they activate Peavy Saturday but what is the other move as they have until September 1 to make add roster spots.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:42 PM) JD's having quite a gamesecond half. Should this season end poorly for he and the Sox he would be a focal point
  18. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:29 PM) Is this Campanis posting? Jimmy the Greek? Yes, we all remember El Duque's fragile mental state with the bases loaded and nobody out in Fenway during the ALDS in '05, or how fragile Jose was that whole season for that matter. An aging pitcher who has lost his stuff and a shortstop who makes dumb errors from time to time does not indict an entire nation. My point was more along the lines that Jose when he was with the Yankees and now as well as Ramirez ability to forget how to play shortstop are odd to me as they have gone through so much mentally to get to the U.S. Then they both simply seem to lose it from time to time wher they appear ot have zero ability to play. I apologize if I offened any and all Cubans.
  19. QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:21 PM) resilient? what team u watching hawk. Team is 1-50 in trailing after 8 I believe it is 1-53...How resilient do you need to be to play .500 in one of the worst divisions in recent memory?
  20. The Tigers are hitting a guy (Jared Weaver) that if he faced the Sox enough would have at least one no-hitter. I am starting to lose confidence in the mental ability of Cuban players as they seem to be fragile which is odd based on the the conditions under which they make it to the U.S.
  21. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Moving JD and Paulie down in the lineup would be fine. Benching them wouldn't. Not only are our other options inferior, but treating veterans who have carried this team on their backs for years that way would reflect poorly on the franchise. Boston is doing it with their captain
  22. I am curious to see if Hendry throws McDonough under the bus with these contracts although the Dempster and Bradley ones are all his doing. All Hendry needs to do is point to the Blackhawks.
  23. Aren't all members of the 40 man roster on September 1st palyoff eligible?
  24. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 03:53 PM) Anyone else believen yet? I want to but have been let done all but one time all year.
  25. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Everyone doubted me when I called Alexei's 3 run homer a week or so ago......just wait.....Kotsay will pull this out with a walk off homer. Kotsay should be playing a lot more he looks as dangerous as anyone.
