  1. Was strike three looking or swinging? f*** Juan Uribe and his worthless $5M fat ass. Thanks for '05 though.
  2. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) Is Hawk and DJ doing radio? If so, why? Not on my radio. Uribe better take two. I hate Red Sox fans almost as much as cub fans.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) um... he just hit a double. But, in principle this is a good point - he needs more rest. Dye should DH a bit more, and we need more out of our backup OF's. Gamecast is wrong that was AJ.
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 12:40 PM) Umm, I didn't compare him to Floyd at all. I was addressing Balta about how he always posts the most positive but unrealistic hypotheticals such as when he said blank or blank. But that aside, Owens will not steal 58 in a full season I don't care what total he's at now. And I don't he'll keep his current OBP forever or improve it even marginally. That's my prediction. Jerry Owens and Josn Fields began playing baseball full time after Soxtalk was open for business. Both seem to be gamers and are geting better at-bats. They along with Ricar appear to be able to be servicable major league players. None of the three seem to be overmatched based on where they should be, which is AAA. They do not need to be All-Stars. The players that are paid to be All-Stars need to be, then this team will compete. Owens is a better player than Pods now and IN MY OPINION Fields is a better hitter now than Crede. They are going to get better the more they play.
  5. How is the clarity of your pool? I fought an algae battle after vacation but it has been reduced to a cloudy issue that I thinkis pH related.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) DAMN YOU MATT CAIN!!! His performance today rivals (and based on the fact he is going head to head with the highest paid pitcher in baseball history) tops that of Micah Ownings this game could easily be 0-0 and if he is not so stout they could be losing. Oh Well, jacque Jones will end getting a slam and bunt triple to win it for Big blue.
  7. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) This is our annual sixty-one: the single-minded harping record. You're trying to set a record for most Cubs comments, breaking either Hangar's record or Cuck the Fubs: last year Flash tried to break the record with Liriano: SSI71 is trying to break the record with Walker but he's faltered of late: WhiteSoxFan101 is trying to crack it with Ozzie: LV wants to do it with Rowand, but he doesn't have the longevity or the total posts on it to make it: I'm trying to do it this year with Gavin Floyd and John Schuerholz. * Anyone societally involved in Chicago who is known as a White Sox fan is impacted daily by the happenings of the cubs right now. I have to admit a cub win stings a whole more than a Sox loss at this point in time. The fact that they are a mediocore team that is luckier than s*** is the worst part about it. They could easily have been swept by the Giants and I am not sure what is going to happen today but they are lucky f***s who are treated in the media like they are 40 games over. The history and media bias is what really pisses me off and why I despise them and opine on them more often any anything other than the White Sox. They are the f***ing Los Angeles Clippers yet are treated like the Yankees and Red Sox. They can not even call the Cardinals rivals yet they pretend that they are.
  8. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 23, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) It's not newfound. It's just very much deepened with research. I think his point comes from the fact that in the last month or so it seems that you are a diehard Braves fan the somehow found their way onto this board to hang out with the cool kids.
  9. Sounds like the Royals are make nice/great plays on every hit ball.
  10. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) I have a weird feeling that the benches are going to clear today Seems about right for this season.
  11. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 02:01 PM) Most good humor is. The inning was exciting. Didn't realize Cintron was back on the brevement list........I'll leave the classless humor alone as there is plenty of material here. Most Sox fans have been on the brevement list since late May though.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 01:59 PM) I had to Google "Snapped" and once I did, damn. That is classless. Most good humor is.
  13. Ed is furious at the pitch selection as well is being irrate Gathwright did not steal second. After 3 pitches 2 outs, a walk, and 3 hits 4-2 Royals. The arm slot is killing Ed Count is toast, why is he still putting on cleats plese DL him and hope he retires or his wife appears in a Snapped episode on Oxygen...... Ed wants to fight Gathwright after pounding his chest after making a catch. Ed going to fight Count for throwing sidearm as well. Ed still fired up about 2 out 2nd and giving up the runs
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) Nice to see our submarining cuban is up to the task today. Why the f*** is Erstad hitting in front of Dye. Jesus. Erstad is clutch and grinderlicious. Ed continues to tell us it is hot out there seven different ways. Uribe is the rally killer man he sucks. 2-2 -----A nice outing by Count today and early next week and maybe an NL Central team will take him. Come on Count retire the next 24 no more hitting them in the head (or grill)!!!! Ed liking Erstad right now, Hawk has to be wet. A defensive show in left by Grinderman! Ed unhappy with the walk, you go Ed. Count a couple of innings away from 9-7 instead of 6-15........ok Ed.
  15. I'd hate to see Dye here, Erstad has pictures of someone.
  16. Sitting at work looking out the window, I wish I was at the game. Ed says it is hot out though so maybe I am good in the AC. Thanks Ed. Grudz hit in the head but fear not he's ok. Ed says it's the arm angle. Hasn't that been the case for three years. 1st and 3rd - 1 out. Maybe after getting hit in the head Grudz will run to left instead of home. 2-0 Royals still top of 1, I bet Gload tries to steal.
  17. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 10:57 AM) "rewriting the closer's record books"???....let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Jenks has had a fairly good career thus far, but it's not as if he's been unhittable. He had a nice streak, but he would have to put together another three 40+ save seasons just to get in the top 20 all time. That's no easy task in that role. He could. I didn't say he will, but he could. If healthy he could, then again so COULD Boone Logan. As a rookie he answered the question of if he could handle the post season. This year he has shown he can pitch in the 94-96 range with success. I apologize for not writing him off because he can not (or maybe does not) throw 100. Next blown save I promise to write him off as s*** and send him to pasture with Billy Koch. I keep forgetting optimism is no longer allowed in regard to the future of this franchise.
  18. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 22, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) Personally I think Bobby should be given a chance to compete for a spot in the rotation next year. I don't think the screwed together elbow could handle it. He has the stuff to be a top of the rotation guy but for the longevity of his career he could rewrite the closers record book.
  19. Anyone else find it funny that the Sox seem to be the only organization that treats B games like real games therefore our hitters have not faced major league pithcers and our pitchers have not faced major league hitters prior to the start of the season. I know this not the case all of the time but it seemed to happen quite often where Jim Thome gets 94 at-bats in a B game off guys making injury rehab starts as oppossed to facing Brandon Webb.
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 20, 2007 -> 11:12 PM) Well, he won't wind up in Chicago, I'm pretty sure of that. I think there's a great chance the Braves go after him because of where he's from, how much Schuerholz loves "The Rotation" ("the Rotation is dead, long live the Rotation!"), because of their new ownership and because they'll definitely have the talent to deal for him if they wish. My wet dream is for Atlanta to wind up with Santana and Peavy in two years but that won't happen. However, Peavy + Atlanta is almost a match made in heaven. I thought you wanted Santana to finish his career with the Twins?
  21. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 21, 2007 -> 08:47 AM) AL-NL conversions are overstated. Why did Greg Maddux refuse to leave the NL then when offered $10M to do so? Ted Lilly stated it as well when asked about the differences in the two leagues. I think the biggest difference is not in the numbers but in the psyche of the pitcher's mindset. I personally think it is harder to go through an AL line-up as compared to an NL line-up. For the last two years arguably the best four and 8 of the top 10 teams played in the AL.
  22. There are not that many average pitchers out there and an average pitcher makes $10M a season. The Jason Jennings comparison is pretty solid although I think Garland's pitching in the AL makes him a little better. Every pithcher's arm is sore all season. Garland blames his poor performances on it that is the difference. He would bring back a pretty nice package in return. Last offseason Hunter Pence was the deal breaker. To guage the value of Garland's worth start with the fact he has never missed a start and he throws about 200 innings. The prospect NOT THE REALITY of this scenario got Gil Meche a really nice deal. Garland in the NL wold be very successful.
  23. Really bad pitch calling. He needed to rare back and blow him away after he fouled off two hanging breaking balls. Oh well nice save.
  24. Next year's starting SS batting .138 career against Lilly.
