QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 08:44 AM) Fire him!!! Seriously, that's not even beer, its something 19 year old college girls drink. And drunk middle-aged women in Cincinnati. I've never seen a bartender so annoyed. (drunken slur) "do you have bud light lime?!" "I have bud light, and a lime."

More on Nigeria's oil spill problems, which happen at a worse rate than our own spill and happen year after year. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/may/3...ger-delta-shell

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) From the way his hand was positioned over his mitt, and the way that Hermie gauzed it, it makes sense. As soon as it happened and they were showing him looking at his finger, you could see it was a bloody fingernail. That had to hurt.

The Official Stephen Strasburg needs Tommy John Thread

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:48 AM) Merry Strasmas it's the holiday that comes once every 5 days. My Strasburg player tee was finally delivered to me yesterday. -
QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) Aren't scientists actually unsure why gravity works the way it does? Like, if gravity worked the way they thought, the universe wouldn't still be expanding... or something dorky like that. Sort of. That's why dark energy/ matter is proposed. And the actual mechanisms of gravity and what actually gives things mass still aren't well understood. But really, the point that AGW has an incredibly strong consensus still stands. It's said that propaganda to the contrary is so successful. Now, a consensus can always be wrong, but it still exists and they've done a good job planting huge amounts of doubt about that in the public.

Basically, the entire RS article would have to be a fabrication for kap's point to make sense. Oh, and we'd need a reason why he immediately offered resignation instead of denying the allegations. And why Obama would want a headline story about top military doubting him and his administration.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) Maybe the in or out poll can be an in game thing . Imagine how that would have turned out tonight. we need a live "track the mood of soxtalk" widget. It would be a fun roller coaster. -
LOL. Of course it is. ffs, can you accept anything at face value without turning it into a massive Obama conspiracy?

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:18 PM) It doesn't matter, every officer in the U.S. military knows this. He is the president. McChrystal is a subordinate. The end. I bet Obama was just building a strawman and letting this situation get worse so he can come in and fix everything. Also, somehow redistribute the wealth. Don't talk s*** about superior officers/ commanders, period. That's like rule #1 in the military.

This is a legitimate problem regardless of whatever religious motive this particular group has: Often a 7/11-type store is the "grocery store" in poorer areas and it's filled with garbage food. But, yeah, not sure where Illinois is going to get the money for that.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:29 AM) Gavin tried hard last Friday. Has a pitcher ever gotten a solo HR or even the RBI in a 1-0 game? It has to have happened before.

That's true in a Real Politik sense, but that's like the Republican mantra of "Dems want America to fail" circa 2003-2006.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Yeah, and do you remember Michael Jordan's game against Boston in the playoffs at the beginning of his career, when he put up 63 and we still lost? You've got to have players around you in basketball and football...but in baseball, as in hockey, if you've got a stud arm or a stud goalie, you can win games you've got no business winning... Do you remember Gavin Floyd carrying a no-hitter into the 7th and losing? And Garcia did it several years ago against Santana and lost 0-1 as well. The best pitcher in the world cannot single-handedly win the game, at least in the AL. And the best position player isn't going to make up for a gas can on the mound.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) class Kalapse_post{ public static void main(String args[]){ System.out.println("That Twins team got some absurd 2nd half numbers (mostly batting average) out of EVERYONE in their lineup including some seemingly mediocre players. 5 starters (Morneau, White, Mauer, Hunter and Cuddyer) put up .850+ OPS's, Morneau hit .342, White .321 and Mauer .311. Then the absurd: their backup catcher (Redmond) hit .321 in 21 starts, Luis Castillo hit .314 with a .375 OBP at the top, Jason Bartlett hit .309, Nick "no bat" Punto hit .285 with a .332 OBP as their everyday 3B and Jason f***ing Tyner hit .312 in 321 PA. The team as a whole hit .316/.363/.474/.838 in July. When you have THAT many fluky performances and throw in the MVP of the league, Cy Young award winner, a catcher who wins the f***ing batting title, a rookie stater with a 208 ERA+ and a closer with a 0.79 WHIP and 12.5 K/9 you're going to win a s*** ton of games."); }} There's some computer coding for ya. You need to write a script for Kalapse posts that scours baseball reference based on keywords in the thread.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) It's a really good Wild West GTA. I found the game significantly more enjoyable start-to-finish than GTA IV. GTA IV was a lot of fun, but the missions got incredibly repetitive. Red Dead managed to keep things pretty fresh throughout.

Riveria Maya for a week for a friend's wedding in July. Rafting for a few days in Western PA (youghiogheny river) in August. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) Aside from the obvious heavenly destination in Sandusky, where else is on your list of places to go? There's a nuke plant there?

Yeah, but we have Jake f***ing Peavy! I don't know if I think they're contenders again, but I'm definitely paying attention to them again after writing the whole season off.

An intractable position is different from the government nationalizing them or taking unilateral action. Leverage is worth something in negotiations.
