QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 04:13 PM) To be fair, in a world where abortions are legal child support shouldn't exist. Yes, good point, his then-wife should have aborted their (presumably) planned and desired children.

I know it's a couple of years old, but we watched Safety Not Guaranteed over the weekend. I don't understand all of the positive reviews, it seemed very generic to me.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 13, 2014 -> 03:38 PM) You need to do Mt. Rainer. We stayed at a B&B near there and stayed in the area awhile. It's worth it. You sound you go to places similar to what we like. Have you been to Crater Lake? It is a definite must. Crater's on the list, and we'll be at Mt. Rainier at some point, even if it's not this year.

Going to Denver/Keystone next month, Zion/Bryce Canyon in May and my wife is still trying to convince me to do Olympic/Mt. Rainier in August.

Wealthy divorced Republican donor gets state rep. to write child-support bill that would save him hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) The Stand has already been a movie, starred Gary Sinise. As I recall, it was made for TV, and broken up into pieces. I only saw the very beginning of it, and it wasn't great, from what I saw. It was absolutely awful and cheesy.

I have a nice scar in my forehead from something similar involving a couch when I was about four. The kid does actually smack his face into the leg/base of the table, looks kinda hard too.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 01:05 PM) The long term studies on GMO's have been done and I'd say that they're 99.9% convincing. Maybe there's need for extra regulation just to be careful since the world is a larger population than most trials and rare events might still occur, but at this point the data on their safety and effectiveness is convincing. (someone needed to say that, btw). yup, whatever patent/corporate issues there might be with companies like Monsanto, the safety of GMO foods are pretty well established. -
The circle interchange rebuild is going to be a nightmare for years to come.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 09:55 AM) Just so it's said, this is pretty ignorant of discrimination to "whites" in this countries history. Irish, Italian, Polish, German, etc. Everyone has someone in their family that suffered from some kind of discrimination at some point. Slavery is obviously the extreme, but lets not pretend life was all peaches and cream for immigrants in the "golden age" of America either. none of them faced near the same discrimination, this is pretty ignorant of discrimination to non-whites.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 10, 2014 -> 08:18 AM) And the glory years? Eh, 1870-1950-ish. At least that's how I imagine it (I wasn't there), the 60's and 70's weren't bad even if the writing was on the wall. figured, libertarians always remember the glory years from the perspective of a white male

when do you imagine this wonderful time period was, duke?

He's an asshole who hasn't really done all that spectacular, yells at people with much less power than him and now this.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 08:25 PM) To the death you will defend this piece of s*** because for like a month he was your poster boy for that compromise scam being used to kill America. Yeah, that's definitely what balta is known for. I'm also confused by your frequent appeals to individualism and near-anarchism while also being really nationalistic about America.

The press conference was pretty odd. Conflicting timelines, lots of "me me me," appears to admit that he fired her because she lied to him, not because of the s***ty thing she did, still trying to claim plausibility for the traffic study.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 9, 2014 -> 07:22 AM) First of all, in this day and age, how stupid do you have to be to leave electronic evidence of criminal activity? seriously, right? follow up: EMS responders delayed by bridge closing http://www.northjersey.com/fortlee/GWB_lan...n_Fort_Lee.html

This "Chris Christie shut down a major bridge for political retribution" story is getting some legs. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/09/nyregion...sings.html?_r=1

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) You can't trust CPD stats outside homicides and even when it comes to homicides you kind of wonder if there was pressure in the department to classify as many deaths as possible as natural causes to soften the stat sheet. Also, 420 homicides is not an accomplishment in the slightest and the city should still be f***ing humiliated by it. You've denounced the very concept of social engineering so I'm not sure what you think any collective body could our should do about this or why it should cause the city (residents? Government?) Gunnison to have the lowest murder rate in many decades.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 04:16 PM) Yea, the NY Post did. top-notch journalism right there, definitely a cover story

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 7, 2014 -> 11:52 AM) You can even try warming the walls themselves. But yeah, not a whole lot... Open up the faucets, heat the pipes where ever you can. Infrared heaters would probably be better for that if you have access to them.
