  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) Hey.. shut the f*** up. Wow, are you done yet? Quit reading the threads for crying out loud. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) SF76, hangar18 has stated he believes the Sox should dominate media coverage. Fair enough. I'm on Hangar's side, but I 100% disagree with that statement. If there is going to be any bias at all, it should lean towards the BETTER TEAM! What a concept...
  2. Word of advice: Don't read his stuff. He wants to make you mad.
  3. I've always thought CSN has been very fair in it's coverage, if not more biased towards the White Sox. I don't watch ESPN anymore, I only watch CSN. Even Chicago Tribune Live has a lot of good Sox coverage. They call it like it is. Sox are going to make the playoffs, they're making a run for another World Series, they deserve coverage. The Cubs suck, they're almost in last place, and even if all their guys return from injuries they're still a 3rd place team at best. That's all you can ask for, now why can't other media outlets do the same?
  4. Great outing by Buerhle. Great job by Ozuna. Great win. Let's keep it going for another one of those 8 game winning streaks! Hell, let's get nuts and make it 9.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) From Today's Sun Times quick hits I just thought that fit in well here. Exactly. There isn't much of a need for a Sun Times watch or Daily Southtown watch. (minus Mariotti) Those papers are mostly fair in their coverage. I don't think anyone is asking for the Sox to absolutely own the Cubs in newspaper coverage, but more balanced reporting would be nice. And the stupid stereotypes about white trash mullets and gangbangers get rather old and offensive. Why do you think Cub fans spew that crap? Because they regurgitate what the media tells them. Cub fans are mindless sheep, that's how it has been the last 10-12 years. They believe whatever they are told.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Yeah, that has nothing to do with being on some great teams and being just a great pitcher. 6 inches is all the way into the other batter's box. :rolly I know it's "not cool" to say negative things about the other team and it's players, but get real. Everyone knows Maddux had an extended strike zone. How else do you walk like 10 guys a year and have an ERA below 2. He's a great pitcher, a hall of famer, one of the best of all time. He earned those extra inches off the plate. But his numbers are so ridiculous because of those extra inches. It's just a known fact and I never thought someone would argue it. Geez, I can't win around here.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) I admit Crede's been a completely different hitter since coming of the DL late last season. I think criticism of his offense since that point is inappropriate. Dude, just stop. haha Crede has been an average hitter his whole career up until now. You can criticize that all you want. It's your "fake statistics" and criticism of his defense that is absolutely ridiculous. "That home run doesn't count, they were up big and were going to win anyways."
  8. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) 1 mod previously asked for this crap NOT to be posted.. now a second one has. How many more will it take...? 10-4. I understand completely. The same policy goes over there as well. However, I don't seem to be alone. Many people from the other site have came here and will come here due to the insane power trip those guys are on. I don't mean to cause any trouble, we're all Sox fans. But I come here and I see hundreds of posters ripping on a genuinely nice guy (from what I've heard). Steff saying stuff is one thing, because she knows him personally (I'm assuming you're the same Steff from WSI...if not...I will be pretty embarassed. hehe). But for all these posters to rip on a guy who was really respected at WSI...it doesn't make this site look very good.
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:34 PM) Oh joy.. a WSI bashing thread :headshake Somebody asked why Hangar is here, and it's similar to why I'm here, to a lesser extent. I'd like to know why you don't post at WSI anymore.
  10. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:06 PM) Why are you now frequenting this website? Did the WSI crew grow tired of your media who-ha? The mods have been on a severe power trip lately. Hence why I'm here. I called out the guy who actually runs the website itself (he has nothing to do with the White Sox content...at least I'm pretty sure about that), because he basically called everyone in a thread a bunch of dumbasses and he banned me for a month. I sent in an "appeal" of sorts to one of the other mods, and he said he tried to get me back, but FWC wouldn't allow it. But like I said, most of the mods are on some crazy power trip lately and ban people for talking about the Cubs even though, like Hangar said, there is a forum especially made for media bias stuff, Cub related stuff, and ridiculous trade rumors. by the way, Hangar I'll shoot you a PM. I think I finally know the whole story behind me getting banned. hehe
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) At a bare minimum, hangar needs to eliminate the "media ignored" statement from his White Sox sentence because it's completely untrue by anyone's definition. Overall, I'd agree. But there are moments when I truly think the Tribune forgot the White Sox exist. For instance, the Sox beat...the Tigers maybe? It was during a little bit of a funk, and the Sox finally played and won a good game. What makes front page news? A huge story on the Detroit Tigers and how good they are. Or try watching the WGN Morning news once in awhile. I don't watch it much because...well...it's WGN and I can't stand that station. "In baseball, the Cubs played at beautiful Wrigley Field yesterday in front of a sold out crowd." note**rarely is every seat filled at Wrigley, or if they are, the place clears out by the 7th so the "fans" can go to the bars.** "The Cubs fell behind early...but in the middle of the 7th, superstar Billy Corgan sang the 7th inning stretch!" **cut to clip of Billy Corgan butchering a White Sox tradition** "It wasn't enough though, as the Cubs lose 13-3 to the Pirates. But it sure was good to see all those fans out there! In other baseball news, Sox win 3-2. Buehrle with the win, Jenks with the save. Now let's hear some thoughts from the players back at BEEAAUUUUTIFUL Wrigley Field!" Am I obsessed? No. But the fact of the matter is that the Chicago media...sucks. I'm not going to sit back and take it, and neither is Hangar. That is why I get so pissed when people blatantly rip on the guy for pointing out something that needs to be addressed. And the media IS taking notice!
  12. QUOTE(zach61 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) And all of these stories promote the cubs in a positive way and the Sox in a negative way? Isn't that what your media watch is supposed to prove? Or did that change now and you're just counting stories? It has always been just counting stories. I believe this is year number 3 of the media watch? Maybe it's just 2. Many media members know who Hangar is (from what I remember), and he isn't exactly their favorite person.
  13. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) Thats interesting. Are those the only parks with Questec? Are there stats for this year? It's no secret that Maddux got 6 inches off the plate for most of his career, and Questec isn't going to help matters. However, I look at a guy like Tom Glavine who is having a great year...and it makes you wonder how much Questec really does effect the game.
  14. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:53 PM) Wait. You have a calendar that you mark this stuff on? Does next Thursday say "Beat Ron Santo in a foot race" on it? I'm the least PC person you'll find... But that wasn't cool.
  15. Just when you think winning would solve everything...I wonder what Mr. Knue has to say about the video highlights, because I notice every day how they're prodominantly Cub low-lites. Oh well, time to win a couple more Championships and make this a Sox city once more.
  16. QUOTE(infohawk @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 11:36 AM) I have been listening to the SCORE all morning and haven't heard anything about this. Offman just gave his scoreboard report a few minutes ago and didn't mention a trade at all. I want to believe it, but it isn't passing the smell test right now. Yeah I'm not finding anything yet.
  17. This seems too good to be true...I'm going to check an Indians and Red Sox board to see what they say.
  18. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 01:18 PM) Notice how its about the Cubs and not the White Sox. Obviously its being bias. No, and I've been here 2 days and I've seen more pointless Hangar bashing than I ever did at WSI. Grow up people. It's about the stupid excuses the media makes to cover the Cubs constantly. Everything they do is a "huge" story. Cell phones in the dugout? Big deal. Ozzie could call the bullpen on his US Cellular phone and call it "new technology". It's the same thing. (sarcasm-->)But you won't hear that because the Sox have no fans and the southside is full of gang bangers and there aren't enough bars around the park. (
  19. It's pretty ridiculous. Sports radio and the Tribune are in love with this "new technology". Ahem, it's a cell phone. Everyone in America has one. Just another way for the Tribune company to make more money that doesn't go to the team. Hello Moto!
  20. My positions changed as my body changed. I started out as a 3rd baseman. Then I got fat and moved to left field. Then I got fatter and moved to 2nd base. Then I finally grew into my 6'5" 240 frame and became a 1st baseman. A pretty good one I must say. Think Paul Konerko, but I couldn't hit home runs. Tons and tons of doubles. Lots of walks, no range, good glove good arm.
  21. QUOTE(steve @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) I worked with him for a short time, he is a mega-uber-tool in person too! I saw him outside the park one day on 35th on his cell phone. You could just tell the guy was a tool. Oh yeah, he looks like crap in person.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) One of the all-time stupid comments I've ever read on Soxtalk. shoota, you haven't changed. Flinging your crap at another message board now? As soon as Crede started hitting for that high average this year, believe it or not you were one of the first people I thought of. I wanted to see your opinions, but then you were banned.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 02:31 AM) That is when he is first eligible to come off the disabled list. This is according to the Trib, which reported that Politte has had two consecutive pain free long toss sessions. The Sox should know more on Thursday or Friday as he's scheduled to throw a bullpen session. It sounds like he's got bone chips, but he thinks he can avoid surgery. Here's a blurb from the Trib Hopefully he regains his control after this little stint on the DL. I'm not even asking for a Cliff v. 2005, but a 3.50 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP would be really nice from one of the last guys in the pen.
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2006 -> 07:12 AM) I am sorry to hear it, but at the sametime, we all knew we weren't going to get Dustin back this year. Good luck Big D, you were invaluable last year While I hope he does come back, I never expected him to. That would just be a bonus. Then again, if he does come back you have to wonder how effective he would be.
