  1. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 03:36 PM) Springer and Bregman are both protectable 5 WAR players annually. Springer hit 5 WAR last year in his first full season and Bregman nearly hit 2 WAR in 44 games. Sale's highest bWAR season was 6.9. A trade for Sale for those two players alone would be a massive overpay. If it happened, we should all be elated and send Hahn Hersey Kisses, Bubble Bath, Red Wine, and Roses. Ok, I ask again...can we assume these guys are going to duplicate their performances for the next 6 years?
  2. This is ONLY something I consider if one of these jag bags is refusing to include their top prospects anyways. Otherwise, this is not the time, nor the place, Rick.
  3. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 07:00 AM) I've had a very good experience with my Surface. I use it at work a lot for note taking in meetings with OneNote. Then I go back to my desk and everything is there without having to manually sync anything or if I write my notes during a meeting on paper I don't have to type it up. I use the pen when I have to stay on my feet and walk around noting things down. They are also powerful machines in terms of resources. I've seen people use Surfaces as their only computer with a docking station. I'm not a huge fan of the USB docking station, but it works. You also have the full Windows OS. If I want to connect it to a projector to demonstrate something, I can do that. If I want to print something, that's easy too. Not like an ipad where I have to buy additional hardware. The touch screen is also nice and responsive. I'm a fan. It works well for what I need it for. Maybe I've got a lemon, but I've just had constant issues with software updates, restarts, etc. Always a pain to work with.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 06:27 AM) Agreed on all counts. IMO you get more mileage for work related stuff with a macbook air. The ipad to me is a larger iphone for watching videos and f***ing around. Agreed. I was fine using my MacBook Pro until they started cracking down on the use of personal devices for business. Now I'm stuck with these two bad options.
  5. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) I use it as my work computer (Sales). The idea behind them getting these for us was to use them for sales presentations and to work in between sales meetings. I like it a lot for what it is. I don't use the pen that comes with it, instead just use it as I would any other computer. It is cool that it can be a tablet or more like a laptop if you have the attached keyboard and Bluetooth mouse. To me it seems very similar to an iPad. I have one as well as an iPad for work. They both suck for business applications as far as I am concerned. The iPad is sort of just never compatible for the right tools I need, while the Surface is just a massive piece of s*** that always gives me problems. Basically, everything you ever thought you knew about Apple and Microsoft was reaffirmed for me in these two products.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 09:36 PM) Well they've been having talks about these guys for months now. They should have a pretty good sense of what the markets are for each of them at this point. My guess is Quintana is signicantly undervalued relative to Sale. You and I have been on much the same page for the last several months. I agree. But things change quickly. You might trade Sale first and then actually end up getting the same or better for Q. This thread itself is about an article making an argument for just that very thing.
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) I think it's as simple as the Sox wanting to keep one of them and Sale bringing back a much bigger return despite one less year of control and not a significant difference in production. I'd be open to trading both of them is the price was right, but if you're determined to keep one then Quintana is definitely that guy. One would think, but they should be letting the market define that.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) If that factors into it it's only in the slightest. I think they think trading Sale is what is best for the future. I just don't know how you could really definitively say "I want to trade Sale, but keep Q" otherwise. One would think they would remain flexible unless it was a health issue or a makeup issue.
  9. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 04:04 PM) Not a guess, he's got information on the club's plans. Goes along well with what we've heard in regards to being tired of Sale and his attitude.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) I have to say, I've been surprised at how little Sale's contract has mattered. It gets mentioned, but I think part of it is we are dealing with Yankees/Red Sox/Dodgers/etc. That's nice, but the 10 million in savings per year isn't really doing anything for them. PIttsburgh/STL would be the helpful teams there, but they don't seem to have the weapons. I'm pretty sure if Boston feels Sale is too expensive they'll just get Verlander and not really care too much about it. One thing I haven't heard mentioned in regards to Verlander is that he hasn't exactly been the model of consistency recently. I'm not sure if I was a GM that traded for JV that I would know exactly what I was getting...
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 06:55 AM) Agreed. But f*** those rich Fenwick brats anyway Hey now, watch it asshole.
  12. Dear Fenwick Community, In Saturday evening’s 7A state semi-final football game between Plainfield North High School and Fenwick High School, the IHSA officials instructed the teams to play after time expired and as a result awarded a win to the wrong team. Pursuant to the outcome of the game, IHSA invited Fenwick to submit an appeal to the IHSA. Early this morning, the IHSA Board determined that it would not hear the appeal. As a result, in an effort to protect the rights and rightfully earned opportunities of our students, Fenwick High School has filed a lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois seeking declaratory, injunctive and other relief against IHSA. Please refer all media inquiry to Peter Groom, Principal of Fenwick High School.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 01:55 PM) I'm confused about the circumstances. Are they there for winter league? Are they guys who played stateside in the summer? I'm assuming most/all live in DR, but it sounds like they were with the club. That is what confuses you about this?
  14. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) I used to be one of those people that didn't think JB could be the #1 on a championship team. I'm starting to wonder how true that is. Has he reached his ceiling yet? Doubtful, and he works his ass off to get better...unlike Rose and more like Jordan.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 21, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) I won't lie, if that happens, I'm okay, cause it means Barkley is good or our defense is just incredible. Feel bad for Jay though. What an awful year. Always wished he'd find a way to win with us cause I think the perception around his attitude is all wrong. That said, the perception around his performance is real. He is what he is. Someone will get him and he'll be okay with the right people and everything else, but his time is long gone in Chicago and we all know that. I just hope if we take a QB we take the right one and do it right to maximize the possibility that they excel. Barkley is awful...I cannot imagine him coming in and doing anything other than making us look far worse...which is what usually occurs when someone other than Jay is quarterbacking.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 06:40 PM) Health care lol. I should cry instead of laugh. So I get my statement today. I had the blood tests for cholesterol and all the things they check. The lab charged 550 bucks. Somehow my insurance covered all but 8 bucks. But cmon, folks. Checking blood is a 50 dollar job. Not 550. My gawd. It's all a scam. On this, I actually agree with you, Greg. Yes, it looks great that insurance pays so much of those huge bills, but the sheer amount of them is absolutely ridiculous. And we are all paying for that.
  17. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) Kenny will probably say something in a few days that will contradict Hahn here. I'm really starting to believe that Sale will NOT be traded. They've probably set the asking price so ridiculously high (like asking $1,000,000 for a house that's only worth $100,000) that nobody will be willing to give up that many players. That way they can say "but we tried to trade him." I'm sick of this front office. I don't think the mainstream fans want Sale to be traded...I don't think there is any reason to go through the motions here.
  18. Floyd was released from the hospital and will travel home with the team. Pretty great news.
  19. I suppose...I guess I would have gone the route of easing up his minutes a bit rather than sitting him the entire game, but they obviously know their players.
  20. Apparently Wade will sit out tonight to rest. Seems a bit odd to me.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Zach Miller with a broken foot. Done for the year. Yeah, he knew it as soon as he did it, too. Hopefully Floyd's injury isn't too bad.
  22. The only real thing we could not have happen here.
  23. And we have surface and lines!
  24. Ball Containment finished.
  25. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) I'm trying to write a message for my son's HS yearbook page (where you pay a bunch of money so your kid can have a personal page of pictures in the yearbook). He's a senior, so while I'm sitting at the computer welling up with tears while trying to encapsulate what he means to us, I picture him flipping through the yearbook in the spring and barely paying attention to what I write. Gotta love parenthood. Maybe, but when you're dead, he'll appreciate it
