QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) That run wound up being one of the 2 Peavy gave up that cost him the game. If Hudson hadn't missed the throw, Peavy coulda thrown a shutout. That game single handedly made people start talking about Hudson being inadequate more than before. Ugh, not this nonsense again

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) Looks like Q is starting to get hit a lot harder the second time around. I'm not seeing it...he pitches to a ton of contact...some are bound to fall in...hasnt given up a run in at least 13 straight.

PK just dropping the bat at this point after every PA

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) Have you noticed that he's gone from having people on every inning to having nobody on in a lot of innings? Yeah, dunno if it's luck or what...he seems to be locating better to me

I just love watching this kid pitch...

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) Wasn't Angel Campos involved in that balk incident with Joe West and Buehrle? IIRC he was the home umpire I lose track...we hate almost every umpire at this point.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 10:54 AM) I can't imagine a team playing a guy on request where he is an injury risk. If it's the team that will potentially give them something for him, of course they would. They are going to cut him if they can't trade him. Wtf do they care if he gets injured now?
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2012 -> 09:29 AM) Boston is stupid to allow him to play today anything can happen. If a deal with any team is that close why risk it? They are either trying to prove he is healthy or we asked them to play him.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) I agree we should give them scraps. I just fear KW will give them 2-3 good prospects. I'd rather send them Crain and be done with it. I consider Crain average at best. He certainly goes through funks, but have you even looked at his numbers?

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) Oh God, is it gonna be an ugly sunday lineup in those ugly red uniforms tomorrow? lame No worries...The Feathered is pitching tomorrow...unless our manager intervenes, it's in the bag...

KW whining about (OK bringing up) attendance again

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) Several major and minor league - royals and tbones. Great post. I heard some fan call a talk show the other day and said he'd been to 10 parks last year and they asked him to quickly rate them all and the Cell was last. He said 'the park in chicago' when he got to the Cell. If you haven't been to any White Sox games in US Cellular in the last five years, you probably have very little expertise for determining whether or not the product is worth the price. -
QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) A well known Pirates beat writer said they are out of it. All thats really left is us and the Dodgers. Is it the guy with the European-sounding name? He's the only guy on earth that knows s*** about the Pirates

QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) How do the White Sox make a trade for Youkilis if they can't take on cash (in other words, buy him from Boston) and don't have much to offer in terms of minor league talent if they can't just take on the contract? Don't the White Sox have to trade money for money? No. The Red Sox can send him along with cash to cover his salary.
-
QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) That plus he is expensive. Yeah, but I feel like he offers the team something, even if we had to use him in lower-leverage situations. I am just really afraid Youk will offer us absolutely nothing.
-
Barf. I know Matt has struggled in big time situations, but he's worth more to us than Youk will be.
-
I really hope we didn't give up Matt for this guy. Why the f*** would we have to include a player to be named later?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) I'd only consider dealing Crain if we fall apart. Didn't Bruney have a good month a few years ago with us? I seem to remember him sporting an era of about 2 for quite a few weeks.

KW whining about (OK bringing up) attendance again

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 01:37 PM) The product is not worth the cost of the entire experience. That's my opinion. Too easy to attend a minor league game if you need a ballpark fix (sights, sounds of a ballpark and a 1 dollar hot dog instead of a five buck dog). How many games have you attended in the last 5 years? -
Crain is not "just another body." He is way too good a piece to be sending back for a broken down player who, according to nearly everyone who has scouted him, isn't doing anything particularly well right now.
-
I've got to agree with most of you guys, I am not going to shun the Greek God if he comes here, but I wouldn't give up anything I have a damn about to get him, even if they paid his entire salary and covered the $1M buyout next year. I'd like to give them Lilli just to give him a chance to play again where someone might appreciate him, but the selfish side of me thinks even Lilli might be more valuable to this team. Youk is a broken-player who's shown nothing all year outside of a few weeks. I don't think his career is necessarily over, but this is one of those moves that has "he's not going to give you anything this year" written all over it. I hate to sound like Rongey here, but as long as we get someone who can catch the ball over there at third, we that hitter should not make or break our lineup. We've got plenty of hitters, unless we're going to have to deal with PK being out for a bit and Viciedo's extended struggles...but assuming they both start hitting again soon, we've got more than enough offense.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) If any team is really contemplating giving up a top prospect or taking on much cash, they need a new front office. Boston has to get rid of him before they have to release him. I don't think any team can be that dumb. I'm sure anything they have been offered is fairly similar. Willing to take his money or a big portion of it or willing to give a top prospect, and this deal would have already been done. This is why I don't trust beat writers....they have no concept of what the team is doing, and not enough common sense to understand the business of baseball. Makes you wonder how they get these jobs, to be honest.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) And at what point is Humber struggling due to the pain. Clearly he couldn't pitch through the injury, so they dl'd him. Probably the exact same thing that happened to Danks (when they finally decided he couldn't pitch through it). It happens. Up until last start, Im pretty sure I read where Floyd had a double digit era or close to it in his past few starts (which was significantly worse then Humber). Humber had a couple really bad starts, but he also has quite a few quality starts. Well, you are free to believe what you wish...I am a Humber supporter as well, so I'm glad they didn't DFA him. But you're not going to convince me that this isn't just a convenient excuse to put him on the shelf for awhile while we check out some other options.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) As a former pitcher, I can tell you flat out that you can have an injury that just needs a few weeks to get better (which might be the case here). And the org would be stupid not to put it retroactive. Teams always put things retroactive. You just never know what could happen. There is no harm in doing it, so why wouldn't you. My guess is he'll be back in a couple weeks (miss 2-3 starts). And despite that area, he's also thrown a heck of a lot more complete games then a lot of the 5th starters the Sox have put out there. He also has a good arm and was dynamite for the club when he's been healthy. I'm not disputing anything you are saying, except I believe they don't know what else to do with him, but they can't keep putting him out there to lose games for us, and they can't option him down. The DL is just too convenient. Again, I am sure they could find plenty of things going on with Jake and Chris that they could DL them for too.
