  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) Uh, yeah. I think Sale, Peavy, and Konerko are all locks. AJ should be, and Rios is borderline. Oh, and Dunn should be considered, warts and all. And yes, De Aza has had a great first half, but probably not. Heck, after all of the good stuff on this team, how are we not running away with this thing? I'd take Sale, Peavy, AJ, Rios, and De Aza. I think they are all deserving. PK, while the BA is very nice, has not been an all-star if you ask me.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 1, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) He has a horse ranch in Houston? I believe so, yes. Or somewhere nearby, anyway.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) I doubt El Caballo wants to leave his caballos in Houston, even for a couple months Yeah, I mean, forbid one of his goals is actually to win something...
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 04:26 PM) I would have felt bad for Jake today had he not given up 3 bombs... and those 2 extra base hits to Dwayne Wise... 11 Ks are nice, but it doesn't really matter when you give up 3 home runs. Yeah but they need to pick him up a few times like they did Quintana yesterday. So they couldn't get it done against the Cardinals or Cubs...but come on...sooner or later you have to give the guy some run support, whether he pitches well or not.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 02:41 PM) Oh, so you could see the ball in front of the pole on the replay? I'll have to check it out later on MLB.TV if I remember. I looked. You could see the ball pass in front of the pole.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) De Aza deserves to be on the All-Star team. Yes he does.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) That's a very interesting path the kid's hands take to reaching the set position. Probably because he has so much arms.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) I know everywhere one turns, you get a prospect rankings team-by-team, or an organizational ranking......but how about something that is specifically a "young MLB players" rankings list? Prospect rankings are mercurial, but the Sox would do better in a list that would consider already-on-the-majors young talent. And it's a list I'd care about. Most farm system rankings are heavily influenced by SP and position players, which are two areas where the White Sox haven't had a lot of flash recently. Most of our really good "stuff" arms have been BP arms, so that's most likely why we're not seeing any kind of recognition despite the fact that we are getting some big contributions from the farm system.
  9. The sushi in the Bronx is for s***...and the air smells worse than Charlie Sheen on a 3 week bender.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Just call him The Gladiator The Gladiator doesn't work so well with relief pitchers, or baseball players in general... Too early for his nickname...we need to see a bit more of him...
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) Aaron Hill hits for the cycle... AGAIN! (did so 11 days ago) Wow...first player in 81 years to do it twice in one year.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) Have you seen the NBA thread this year? Nobody gets it like I do. But I don't care about that. I was messin' around. There's nothing here. Let's just go back to greg vs the world. Oh it's six of one and seven of the other.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) A little while ago, Apple was granted a preliminary injunction on sales of the Galaxy Nexus in the United States. As soon as Apple posts a 93 million dollar bond, sales of the Galaxy Nexus will be banned in the United States, due to patent infringement on design. Meanwhile, the same judge cleared Apple of infringement against Samsung. In the past two day, Apple has been granted US sales bans on the Galaxy Tab 2 and now the Galaxy Nexus. While preliminary...these are MAJOR blows to Samsung. The issue with most of Samsung's counter claims against Apple is they are all based on FRAND licensed patents, which are very hard to argue in court due to their standards essential nature. Articles: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/12/06...mmer_trial.html http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/12/06...smartphone.html The funny thing is posting a 93 million dollar bond for Apple is like me posting a $50 deposit on a power washer at Home Depot
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) I should've said more exciting and likeable. But I'm just bulls***ting. quinarvy is the only person here that understands the fact that you don't have to be a homer and still support your teams. Oh jeesh...there are quite a few people here that are not homers (I am totally a homer, however) but still support the team.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 08:51 PM) Somehow I'm not regarded as a Sox fan anymore just because I like Ozzie. Weird. We win big and it's like I got shown up some how. I don't know how to change this perception since nobody on here will have my back since I guess I'm universally hated. That said ... great win. I figured seeing the run totals that one of my favorite Sox, DeAza had a big game. Surprised to check the box score and see one for six, but I'll take it. Wow on Alexei, AJ, Paulie, Rios, et. all. Sox look like a good team this year; still a bit dysfunctional (OK I'll change the word to inconsistent like somebody said) but a good team. Greg, you are not universally hated...but you do realize if you continue to fight an impossible crusade for Ozzie, meanwhile having a very cynical attitude about the current team, you certainly aren't going to be particularly admired.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) "With Ozzie, the Sox win that game 16-4." -- greg right now, probably. He would have calmed down the serpent since they are both latin.
  17. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) This lineup has a chance to be insane when it all comes together. It's a contagion.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) 3.5 up on the Indians and more importantly, 5 up on Detroit. This has turned out to be a very good roadtrip so far. Split the next two and I'll be satisfied. A sweep would be amazing. Yeah, let's get the game tomorrow and take our chances against Hughes on Sunday.
  19. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) How did Septimo look? Like he either has really long arms or he pulls his pants up very high.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 03:29 PM) Run total is 10.5 tonight....since Quintana will shut them out, that seems like an easy under win. Was clearly all over this one tonight...
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) The Sox also passed on Pujols several times. The point I'm making is the White Sox and some fans have been using their draft position as an excuse for not developing a lot of good players in the past decade. They have had opportunities to draft a lot of good ones. Of course, the problem could have been in their developmental personnel. Had they had drafted guys like Trout, Pujols, Pedroia (I'm cherrypicking, I know) maybe they don't become the players they became. It does help a team, especially one where payroll is always under discussion, to develop some home grown stars. Maybe the Sox are turning a corner, but if they had Trout and he was as good as he is now, Anthony Rizzo wouldn't be page 5 news. I wonder where he was on the Sox board. Obviously it helps to have higher picks, especially 1-5 or 1-10, but you can certainly find great players throughout the draft. It certainly is a bit more difficult though.
  22. Run total is 10.5 tonight....since Quintana will shut them out, that seems like an easy under win.
  23. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 03:17 PM) I predict we score 3 runs in the first inning, 5 in the second inning and 6 runs in the next seven innings. White Sox win 14-0 One could also interpret that to say the White Sox will score 50 runs.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 03:09 PM) This game thread needs more hate. f*** THE YANKEES! The Bronx is a massive cesspool of human excrement.
  25. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 29, 2012 -> 02:38 PM) I know the logic is weak as hell, but I can't see a guy who threw a perfect game being released or relegated to the bullpen. That logic is weak as hell.
