QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 11:37 AM) It's their annual charity event, so pretty sure the GM has the OK, and would imagine his attendance is required. Not worth arguing over, but it is perfectly possible to answer texts while playing golf. I'm sure if something got serious, he'd step away, just as he did in Miami last week.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) Elaborate on why he's a ******? I'm wondering the same...because he hit our scoreboard with his drone?
-
QUOTE (Username @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) I think that's absolutely fair value - dude has 3.5 years of control left and his peripherals are borderline insane. But whether teams are willing to pay anything near that after a 1/2 season remains to be seen. Yeah, I agree with what DA posted earlier. He needs to have a longer history producing at that level before he warrants a return like that.

QUOTE (KrankinSox @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) Where did Nightengale say this? See the Frazier thread.
-
QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) This is speculation from Nightengale but in his column he predicts the Red Sox will get Frazier and Swarzak for Groome and Chavis. I would be ecstatic but I would bet the Red Sox wouldn't give up near that. Also he thinks Robertson goes to the Yankees for (presumably) Andujar. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/c...inez/484205001/ It's actually Kahnle he mentions, which might make more sense given that return. Although I don't think that happens.

Morosi saying Nats will continue looking for a reliever and a starter, and apparently a key factor in that is that they didn't give up any of their top 5 prospects in their deal with the A's.
-
QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 08:59 AM) Well technically worst case scenario would be Yordano Ventura or Jose Fernandez, right? And let's get back on track here...
-
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 08:39 AM) Beane says A's are going into full rebuild mode for the first time in his tenure. Unfortunately for them, they do not have a lot in the way of present assets to trade away for prospects. Scouts reportedly not big on Gray post-injury. Quotes saying that he is still a nice pitcher, but not the ace he was. Alonso should get them something decent.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 08:10 AM) That should exactly be the plan, especially if Baltimore puts Britton on the market. I would really like to get some of these deals done today, on our off day. I know it is probably a small consideration, but it might be easier for everyone without the hugwatch bs.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 08:05 AM) We will not have the actual top chip for next trades, but the good news is we set good prices for the top chips to follow so we can still get a good haul as the plan b or cs. Yeah, hopefully the Pads insist on that huge return and we can slide under them as a more reasonable (but still good) option.

According to Heyman, the Friars asked for Verdugo from LAD and Torres from NYY.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 07:38 AM) I have been one saying our trade proposals are always 50% too much on here (recently much less so, seems like we've gotten a handle on market), but I actually think Kahnle will return a nice value back. I think it will be less than if he showed off as closer for a year, but, we are 4 months from when we thought nate jones would get us 2 top 100 players. Now we forget he's on team. If we are getting a top 10 team prospect that the white sox like a lot and a young projectable player, I would pull trigger. I'm so sick of the Nate Jones, Jesse Crain situations that keep happening to us. Wow, that would be a tough decision...

My targets would be Fowler and Acevedo or Tate.
-
Trevor Bauer is another guy I wish the Sox would go after.
-
QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) And like clockwork the Cards blow the game in the 9th. They need Robertson and Swarzak badly. I wonder if they even think enough of their chances to go after our pieces.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 03:42 PM) This rebuild better work. This team is going to be so terrible. I spend money watching them. I get what they have to do, but I am not so sure the right guys are running the show. They get prais d now, but the were praised for going for it in 2015. Praised for what they brought in prior to 2016. Praised for the 2016 draft. Praised for the 3 trades. So far, 2015 and 2016 were busts. The 2016 draft, and it is admittedly way too early, but doesn't look like it was full of future stars, and the trades are still maybe. After the deadline deals, this team is basically dark until the next draft. This winter is going to be boring unless they do some prospect for prospect deals, which at a high level, I would doubt. They won't really have anyone to trade. Next season will be nad on the field at the major league level. I just hope some of these guys who will take up so,e roster spots show some hope. I like what they are doing. And I am hoping that once these deals get done, there will be enough of these kids coming up over the next few seasons to sustain some interest. Moncada should be coming soon, then perhaps a few of the arms. I will continue to cheer on Avi and Davidson and some others that have shown some promise. But yeah, otherwise, this will not be fun. We won't be relieved much by our other teams either. Every team but the Hawks is in a state of rebuild. I will say, I enjoy watching this club moreso than the previous several, although I suppose this club has the benefit of no expectations whatsoever.

QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) I still don't think Frazier is going to carry that much value by himself. Like the idea of packaging him with a solid RP. He may not. But I'd hold him before I'd trade him for their organizational depth AND pay half his salary.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 03:14 PM) 21 straight scoreless innings. They need offense now I like that Hahn isn't just giving Frazier away this early in the month.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 02:59 PM) Probs controversial but I do think we will catch the phillies. They underperformed imo, in the first half. We often overperformed. They have nola back. We have a maybe healthy rodon and garbage. If our promotions play well then maybe its moot. But I expect a run for #1. Nola has been awesome lately.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) I would have liked to see Todd do something to put him over the hump.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) Maybe they found a way to get Calhoun
-
Is it bad that the only reason I wanted Jose to get that hit was so we could see if David would get up?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) Cardinals desperately need a closer as well He should get an opportunity next inning.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) That seems like something may be happening soon.... Not only that, but he actually points out the quality of the return. That's a wild f***ing tweet.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2017 -> 01:00 PM) Thought he was hurt based off last night Don't you think the team would have announced that to shut everyone up?
