QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) @scottmerkin So ur GM lied when he said best players play, no matter the contract? Can't have it both ways Merk. This guy is insane. So he's basically claiming Ozzie is being forced to play Dunn and Rios? -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) Gotta love this one: @scottmerkin My point was Q should have been moved near the deadline, and Dunn a bench player. But ur GM didn't have balls for that. Clearly Kenny's fault for not benching Dunn. He's blasting Kenny on Twitter? Is he that loyal to Ozzie that he would blame Kenny for not benching a player? -

QUOTE (qwerty @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) I love that flowers is proving just about the whole world wrong. I mentioned that AJ getting hurt may have a silver lining, and just about the whole world told me I was bats*** crazy. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) Why? They've got Felix locked up for the next 3 years. There's no reason to think that they can't be competitive in 3 years if they make good decisions elswehre. Well, I disagree. I think they might be competitve the final year of his contract, and by then, they're paying him $20 million... I think they'd be better off building and trying to make a run in 3-4 years... -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 04:12 PM) It could be worse, we could be Mariners fans. Do they suck. They do have some nice young players though...they need to trade Felix to the Yankees or Red Sox for some quality prospects, because they're most likely not going to be winning anything through the term of his current contract. -

He has huge straight-away and opposite-field power....some of the balls he hit come off his bat like a freaking superball. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) See what Jennings is doing for Tampa? What a huge afternoon he had today... Although they are just as guilty...they waited til late July to bring him up when they could have used him on opening day. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) Arlington stadium has become a modern day poltergeist. I'm never going to that stadium. I'd fall for no reason. Nah...you'd fall because you'd be hammered...

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 08:54 AM) Wimpy is still pretty funny even when sucking up. i also liked when he said the only games that he had bad games were games when they played the national anthem, lol. wow is that a bad sentence. me fail english? thats unpossible Yeah, that was funny too...and when he said he ordered his bats pre-cracked off the scrap heap... The two of them are just much easier to listen to because the tension is not present.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 08:42 AM) i am starting to get the feeling that wimpy comes back when stone is done. it really seems like hawk is enjoying the reunion. especially since wimpy really praises hawk as much as possible about his stories and brings up points that hawk made in the past. Yeah, he's Hawk's little lap dog...that stuff about Edgar Martinez and Griffey Jr never being able to get into the Polish Hall of Fame like Paciorek was cracking me up last night though...
-
QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 28, 2011 -> 06:43 AM) For me the combination of Hawk and Don Drysdale was the best but Hawk and Wimpy are a close second. I am not sure what it is about Stone and Hawk but I don't think they are delivering as advertised. Of course that's partially because Hawk can be so God awful at times and is getting progressively worse year by year with his rants about us not getting the calls, etc. It seems the last few years we have gone into series against the team we were chasing NEEDING a sweep to stay in it and that is no different this year. In most of those cases over the years we've gotten swept or lost 2 of 3 so I don't expect anything different this year. I think Hawk is threatened by Stone because he is such a good broadcaster. Most of Hawk's color men have been submissive to him...Stone is respectful of Hawk, but not submissive...so there is often quite a bit of tension.

I've really enjoyed watching these games with the Wimperoo. Hawk seems far more relaxed with Paciorek cracking jokes the entire game. I suppose it would get old eventually, however. We need to go on a major run at this point, which is incredibly unlikely, considering we haven't won more than 5 in a row all year long. Something like 24-8 to even have a chance...

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 06:21 AM) I work every other Saturday (so not too often) and ya.. I have to freaking work. That's actually 50% of your Saturdays... -
I would think that while Jobs has been brilliant, he has worked with his team closely enough and for enough time that his vision can be replicated fairly accurately.

So my friend and I are taking our dogs camping over the Labor Day Holiday. We're leaving next Friday morning and camping in Lake Tahoe for a few days, then heading over to the Redwood National Forest for a few days, before finally staying in a prefabricated home I rented on the Oregon coast for 3 days. We're going to be splitting the trek up over about 9 days, because there is a ton of driving involved, but I am really looking forward to it. The house I rented on the Oregon Coast is really awesome. Part of the reason I wanted to rent this particular house is to gauge the quality of a prefabricated home, since I am interested in buying one in the future. Anyways, I have never camped with my dog before, so hopefully he will behave himself. As you can see in my avatar, he is quite curious (and large) by nature. Ordered our tent yesterday night...got a great deal on a really nice North Face tent online at Gander Mountain. Anyone go on some good camping trips this summer? Can't wait for this trip...

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:56 AM) Well, that's like 1% of what mobileme was meant to be. And you can do that with all newer apple computers/products now. I can even use it to "find my iMac" It's part of iCloud now, since MobileMe is discontinued. Steve Jobs even admitted Mobile Me was a failure at the last presentation he did.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) Seriously, what happened to Aaron Hill too? He stopped taking the PED's...but Johnson still goes on these streaks where he is completely incredible for 3 weeks...then goes back to being a complete black hole for a month and a half...Hill just completely blows on all levels now.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) Wow, after 2009 when Aaron Hill looked like he'd be a better version of Beckham and Kelly Johnson was getting DFA'd by the Braves, who'da thunk that? What a mystery Johnson is. I actually love this move for the Blue Jays.

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 23, 2011 -> 05:50 AM) I can't imagine the Indians claiming Thome, they know their fans abhor him. Actually I'd bet money on it, no chance it happens. I'm not buying that...I think the fans would magically forget all about their distaste for him if he were to be acquired for a stretch run.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 22, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) On that particular play, he made a clutch catch. He just needs to get out of bounds. I didn't see it but my friend said he saw Cutler's lips say "GET OUT OF BOUNDS" It wasn't so much that he didn't get out of bounds as much as he didn't just go down right away. We had 2 time outs with like 12 seconds left, so while it would have been ok to go out of bounds, it also was fine that he tried to get extra yardage. The problem was that he ended up getting no extra yardage and kind of danced around wasting time while doing so. Had he just went right down after he realized he couldn't break it for a bit of extra yardage, taking the time out wouldn't have hurt us.
