QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) Why not? Other than a lower K%, what's Rios doing now that's so above and beyond what he was doing in 2006/2007? Well, he's basically one of the most valuable players in baseball right now. I expected him to be an All-Star caliber player. Right now he is on par with the MVP candidates (except for the fact that we suck).

Kenpo is in the books. They need a better-looking chick for that routine.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) As of tomorrow I will be the proud owner of a new Genuine Buddy scooter. Anyone on here scoot or ride cycles at all? I wonder if there are enough people to do a meet up at a Sox game? I primarily bought mine because I want something for around town that is easier to park, easier on gas, and easier on my wallet when I trade my car back in ( I lease). These bad boys get over 60 mph and can be parked almost anywhere around town. Rock, can you post a link?

While I don't expect him to keep up THIS pace, I do expect him to be this kind of all-around, 5-tool player. He is in the prime of his career and will be for the next 3-4 years. If a player that is exceeding expectations and outperforming his contract is not a player you want to hold on to and build around, I'm not sure what is. Now if you believe we are going to completely rebuild, well, perhaps it is best to trade him because he won't be in his prime anymore by the time your team is ready to compete. But I think we all know that with Jake and Mark being immovable, we're pretty much relegated to the "reload" path, which means Alex is the one guy on offense you can safely build around.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) I didn't talk about it. I didn't describe it. I stated my love of it. Ok Steve...enough of this foolishness. If you want to call me creepy...fine... Nothing like doing a little creepin' once in a while...

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) Is there more to it than whats already online? Yeah, there are short stories or anecdotes that make-up the basic structure of the book. Don't get me wrong, it's not a literary classic. But it's a very, very funny lighthearted book about the sometimes very awkward relationship between a son and his father (or a father and his son).

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) This is true. That is way less creepy. I still win. Thank you Carl Slack for your never-ending amazingness. Ahh, you talked about your wife's vajay-jay to thousands of strange men. Yes, you win alright.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) If we do trade Alex we're rebuilding, not retooling and KW has not been one to rebuild. Don't get me wrong, it would be a quick return on our investment, but I agree with WC on this...you have to build the offense around someone...

I can't bear to move Alex now. I have fallen in love with his talents.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) DEA agents went into an apartment across the alley from me with guns drawn this morning. 2 girls left in handcuffs. You aren't dating either of them, are you?
-
Not in the lineup today...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:47 PM) Exactly. Hey Steve, is telling the entire forum about your wife's vagina creepy?
-
Ok, just finished. Great book, especially with Father's Day around the corner. Nothing mind-blowing, but a truly hilarious book about a father bonding with his son.
-
Oh man, if anyone is looking for a funny book for the crapper...this thing is hilarious...just so funny...

You are Jerry Reinsdorf, you decide, who gawn?

Well if I had to pick, I guess I would have to choose Ozzie. Although I don't want to get rid of either of them. I, for one, place nearly all the accountability on the players for this debacle. -
QUOTE (BurlyMan56 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 12:36 AM) I'm going to Dallas Sunday to test for the police department out there...Staying at the dt sheraton, anybody know any nightlife in downtown dallas during the week? I believe you're looking for an area called Deep Ellum. It's a really cool part of the town where there is a great mixture of bars for college kids, thirtysomethings, dance clubs, etc. Jump in a cab and tell the driver to head to that area and walk around and see what suits you.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) I agree. I don't think even the biggest pessimist would have thought things would go as bad as they have, but realistically this is an average team at best which is where most of the projections place them. Not the World Series contender KW made them out to be. Well, we were widely predicted to perform much better than this. If you have the Extra Innings package all the other team's broadcasters are shocked at how we have played with this pitching staff. Fathom, I am sure you have heard it. -

Thornton had a 15.000 WHIP and 135.00 ERA today in his 1/3 of an inning. Ouch for my fantasy team. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) You're going to deservedly get in trouble saying "This roster was fine". This roster had some obvious weaknesses. But the problem continues to be the failure of its supposed strengths. Maybe so. But this roster is nowhere NEAR as bad as they are performing on the field. This is just beyond all comprehension. The problem with the 2010 season is not the roster that was built. It's the performance of that roster on the field. This was not forseeable in any way. Of our 12-14 most important players, I'd say 3 or 4 are meeting or exceeding expectations. The other 8-10 are ridiculously underperforming. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) We were talking about it earlier. You can't keep making bad trades and expect to have a competent roster. The Swisher debacles really hurt the talent in both the majors and minors, and then the Peavy trade killed our pitching depth. KW should thanks his stars Rios has rebounded this season. I just can't accept this line of reasoning. This roster was fine. The players are just all regressing to absolute s*** at one time. It's almost impossible to comprehend. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) Shades of that Indians game where Danks pitched and it went from a Sox lead to a Sox blowout in 10 minutes. What a bunch of weak motherf***ers. Hah, we just can't put anything together. We finally get a QS out of Gavin, and one of our few mainstays, Matty Thornton has a horrendous outing. It's just Murphy's Law right now. I feel badly for the Ozzeroo... -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) Alright then. I just know I'm not one pining for Nick Swisher. He's just not that good to me. I know you never said protection theory yourself...I was just jumping in to clarify what you were saying.... -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 08:10 PM) I don't. Put him in our lineup and I see a big difference. What you're arguing isn't necessarily "protection theory." You're arguing that that lineup is just brutal on a pitcher and will wear him down because of all the high-leverage situations a pitcher will find himself in. Those are two different things.
