QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) Paul and Richardson do it too. It's like they're afraid of throwing the ball away. So instead they do nothing but dribble for 30 seconds and then jack up a three. And then Crawford gets 4 fouls, stays in the game, and they don't even pass the ball to the guy he's guarding. Dumbest team in the Big Ten.

I just don't understand how a team full of D1 talent cannot get the ball to the post. They refuse to throw the ball in, despite Leonard's clear size advantage. If I were Weber I would threaten the bench if Leonard doesn't get a touch in the post on EACH possession.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 09:12 AM) 1st time in about 9 years I am not attending the Illini game in Evanston. I always enjoy the game, but I've lost all faith in Weber and the program right now, so would rather not invest all the time & money in it for now. They will probably pull off an upset or two this year, but I don't think any game is a guaranteed win, even home vs. Nebraska. I'm sorta in the same boat. The Gonzaga game mixed with a lot of the close wins really got me excited that with continued growth this team could be dangerous come Feb-March. But it seems they've regressed. UNLV was just a bad game, the Missouri game gave me hope but really Mizzou tried to lose it as much as Illinois tried to win it, and the start to the Big Ten hasn't been very promising. Of course a loss at Purdue isn't a bad loss since Purdue gets away with raping everyone on defense, but still. That whole completely unbeatable at home thing that was so great for about 5-6 season, but that's totally gone now. I had high expectations that they'd be a fringe Big Ten title contender. But I think it's more likely this is a 9-11 seed tourney team with little shot at moving past the first weekend.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) Obviously last night's game showed that the Bulls need Rip Hamilton if they want to not look like the team that lost in 5 to the Heat last year. Kyle Korver had me reliving that nightmare with his missing of wide open f***ing 3's (seriously, if you can't hit those, be the f*** gone, man). Ronnie Brewer's brief streak from deep was long gone as he was shooting worse from deep than I do in my Thursday night league. Rip isn't the perfect answer, but at least he's not afraid to step up in the big game with a big shot. As some posters already stated, just let the man rest and be 100% in a week or so, even if these games in a shortened schedule are crucial. I wish like hell Joakim Noah were right, but something is still very, very off with him. He's a shell of the player we saw in the first half last year. Suffice to say, this team is going to once again lean extremely hard on Derrick Rose all season long. Agreed on Noah, not sure what's going on. He never gave you a ton offensively, it was always his defense, which is really off. He consistently gets beat now. Hopefully it's just conditioning and he can figure it out. Kinda surprised about Boozer's no show last night. He's been really solid so far this season. I also think it's time the Bulls start the PR campaign for Deng to be an all-star. Obviously Rose does, and should, get the majority of the praise. But even with Rose this team isn't a contender without Deng. He's been the MVP (or at worst co-MVP) of the Bulls so far this season with his late-game heroics and great defensive play.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 10:42 AM) The point Hub was making is that many in the Colts org feel that the team went down hill after Bill turned the team over to his son. The drafts and player management was bad after Chris took over. Bill built it, and Chris ruined it. That might be, but Bill still had veto power I would assume. If he thought Chris was making bad personnel decisions he should have stopped it.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 09:50 AM) Hub is reporting on The Score that Irsay went to Bill Polian and told him to fire his son (there were people revolting inside the organization against Chris), and Bill refused, so they both got fired. Hub said the Bears should call Bill Polian right away. Because the Colts showed this season that they have a stockpile of talent after Manning... I'll pass on Polian.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 25, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) I dont see the problem in it. With the small camp, they are probably just getting their work in. Everyone said it might be sloppy to start because of the layoff so why not take advantage of a 35 point lead to try to knock off some rust. Kinda like a pitcher coming back from a long layoff and getting bombed in the first 2 innings but he keeps throwing to work on stuff. If this was in February or March then I could see your point. Speaking of sloppy, the Bulls haven't looked very sharp in this game

Kim Jong Il Died
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 23, 2011 -> 08:40 AM) Actually, read the article again. When asked for comment, the Carter Center (read: the receptionist) said talk to our publicist. It's been in the news for days now. If he wanted to he could have denied it, but hasn't.

Kim Jong Il Died
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 23, 2011 -> 12:32 AM) What I love most about this thread is that we're taking the news agency that claimed Kim Jong-Il hit 11 holes in one on his first ever round of golf and claimed supernatural happenings at the moment of his death, at their word. The KCNA makes so much s*** up, how do we really know any of it is true in the first place? When asked for comment he simply said talk to my publicist, who happened to be out the last 3 weeks of December.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 10:14 PM) The illini were considerably worse when Sam was on the court. I don't take +/- that seriously usually, but I bet in this case it would be pretty spot on. Weber should have never put him back in the game. Put Henry out there if need be, but not Sam. He couldn't do anything with Pressey and they were pressuring him on the ball because he's not quick enough to get around them. I love the intangibles that Sam brings to the game, but he was embarrassed tonight. This isn't the MVC. I think the problem is the young guys, and even Paul, turned the ball over. He wanted to make sure he was going to get a good offensive possession. It wasn't Sam that got beat at the end there, it was Richardson. Fact is the achilles heel of this team is any opponent with quick guards. They absolutely crush Illinois off the dribble. If Richardson/Paul/Head/Bertrand/Sam could play half as good you're looking at 8-10 free throws off the board. That's the game.

Ugh, well, a good teaching game I guess. They came back, as they always seem to do. As much as Knight wants to say it was all Missouri playing dumb, Illinois continued to make offensive plays and stepped up the defense. Bring on conference play.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) Ok phew. Gotta say I don't like Illinois neglecting to foul down 3. Pressing is the obvious call, but after that do you really like your chances down 3 with 12 seconds if you get a stop? I guess Weber respected Missouri's free throw shooting, but you gotta extend the game. They're like 17 of 19 in this game. Odds are better you make a defensive stop and go for the tie than have to do that twice.

is Bob Knight retarded? Why not try and make a defensive stop to give you 10-11 seconds to tie and/or get down by one? Why give up one or two possible points?
