  1. Tons of missed opportunities for Illinois in the first half. Lots of missed shots right at the rim. Within striking distance though.
  2. I think they've made all but one of their 3's. Edit: 5 for 8. Seems like they've been better
  3. Yeah, they just punch you from every angle.
  4. Jesus Missouri is quick. At least Illinois didn't get knocked out in the first 5 minutes.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) Carter's been doing his own leftist thing for quite a while now, and he's pissed off the US government more than once. It's a bit of a stretch to assume that he speaks for the US government. But with NK, he's one of the few they've seen/heard from. And he's been a diplomat before. Recently even.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 04:08 PM) Jimmy Carter /= US government Considering he's one of the few US citizens on speaking terms with NK diplomats, he basically is.
  7. Man what a piece of s***: http://deadspin.com/5870586/recruit-says-b...ttend-tennessee I'm so happy his "glory" years were short lived. Hope he never gets to coach anywhere again.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) Yeah, because we haven't had any need to worry about their craziness in the past decade. And i'm sure forgetting to express our condolences would have jump started world war 3.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) You don't care about the behavior of the most erratic nuclear armed-country on Earth? I'd call that equally crazy. If we do nothing in response to his death, we needn't worry about their craziness.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) But you don't think that "No statement" might be interpreted as a deliberate effort to burn a bridge, and could prevent continued talks later? That's exactly why the South Koreans and the US did not offer official statements of sympathy, so as to express their disapproval with the government at a national level. These people are crazy, who knows what they'll interpret it as, nor do I care. It's wrong. It's having zero principles. It's giving respect to a man that deserves none.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) Jenks, You have a very proud family with nuclear weapons that, clearly, by nature of how they run their country, are completely irrational. If that is the case, and you want them to stop being so insular and stupid, why on earth would you insult their leader during mourning? You aren't talking to your friends, or your coworkers, you are talking to crazy people with atomic weapons. Why say anything at all? I don't understand that. Ignore it. Don't be a dick about it. Don't laugh in the guys face. Just ignore it. Build bridges on a later date that doesn't involve directly or indirectly saying sorry for losing one of the worst leaders in history. And yes, I agree, that this has come from the Ministry of Crazy People, and we don't know exactly what Carter said. However, the fact that he reached out is more than enough for me to think it was incredibly stupid.
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 10:01 AM) he didn't actually do that now did he? he wished him success. That's it. How else do you greet a new ruler? This is so dumb to be arguing over. Alpha restated my point - why do ANYTHING? Why say "i'm sorry you lost a crazy evil father who murdered millions of his own people?" Is that gesture really going to stop nuclear war (quite the leap btw)? Is it really going to repair relations? This, coupled with Carters "oh that whole unprovoked attack on the South that killed four people is just a friendly reminder that their nation deserves respect." Come on.
  13. I'm excited for the Illinois game tonight, but I think they've got about a 15% chance of pulling off the upset. Missouri's guards are just too fast and I think they're going to wreak havoc on Illinois' perimeter offense. It'll come down to Leonard. If he has a stellar game, they'll be in it throughout. If he gets neutralized then I think it'll be a LONG game. My prediction: Missouri 68, Illinois 58
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) I agree with Balta. Not to mention Carter isnt the President and doesnt have any actual "power" so what possible negative could there be from this. The hope is that Jong-un is not his father and that maybe Carter could act as an intermediary in bringing NK back from isolation. Jong-un could be worse than Il-Jong,he could be better. But nothing wrong with hoping for the best. If you notice, Carter made no reference to Il-Jong's legacy, so Im not sure how you can extrapolate that he was supporting anything Il-Jong did. If anything I believe hes trying to tell Jong-un that he can be different and that the rest of the world is waiting for NK to come out of the dark. Why on earth send condolences for the death of a monster? How is that acceptable? Did prior US presidents send the Hitlers a vase of flowers with a card that said sorry for your loss?
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) This is why we can't let Republicans run anything. There's a game to be played here whether it sounds good to you or not. Having an open channel to do things like "Prevent nuclear war" is a good thing, and there's no national pride lost in having that kind of statement come from Jimmy Carter, such that the Koreans know they have negotiation options rather than sending bombs out. This is why we can't let Democrats run anything, because they have no principles. Why not start negotiating with terrorists too. Maybe one day if we bend over enough we'll see eye to eye on our differences. I'm not asking for a negative action in reaction to his death. I'm asking to not be active in wishing a successor to one of the worst leaders in history, whose killed millions of his own people and keep tens of millions more in poverty, 'great success' in continuing that trend. It literally disgusts me that you think this is acceptable, long-term objectives be damned.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) There is absolutely nothing wrong with the former president having decent relationships here. As noted in the article you posted, it's been useful in the past as a workaround past official channels. South Korea even sent its condolences. Come on man, this is totally unacceptable. Send a one line "sorry your dad died" letter, not a "i wish you great success running that terrible country of yours! Keep killing all of your citizens! Keep attacking your neighbors! I understand, you're just trying to remind the world that you exist." Totally inexcusable.
  17. Have "great success" running that 1984-style society of fear and oppression! What an idiot. http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/inside...es-kim-jong-un/
  18. They couldn't have played the Bucks?
  19. Why are the bulls playing the pacers twice? Dumb scheduling
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Am I a moron cuz I can't find Illinois game on tv. Yeah it's on espn3.com
  21. Everyone is hesitant to shoot. I don't understand it. Passing up wide open 10 footers to shoot a contested three.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) So we should have fired Martz once Cutler went down then. I don't think it's Martz' fault that Hanie can't make a simple check-down read. But I do blame him (and Lovie and Angelo) for not having this team prepared post-Cutler. You can give them a couple of games to figure things out, but that was week 4 with absolutely no improvement. Heck, I'd argue Haine has regressed. And this same s*** would have happened with or without Forte. Fact is the combo of Barber/Bell are performing about as good as Forte would have under the same circumstances, minus Barber losing the Broncos game on a bonehead play.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) No one's talking about it, but Hell On Wheels is really awesome, man. Give it a shot; you won't be disappointed. I haven't seen the last episode, but everything is so damn cliche so far. Oh look, the racist Irishmen, the take-no-s*** slave post civil-war, the dumb native american that can't understand what he's up against, and the immoral and corrupt white man, etc. I like the man character, I like Common's character (though his acting isn't so great) and I liked the plot line of the main guy seeking revenge. That should have been the real focus in the show, not the railroad. Now there's just too much going on and none of it overly interesting. I mean it's worth the watch since there's not much else on, especially if you like gritty period pieces. But it's no Boardwalk or Deadwood.
