QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 09:57 AM) Let's just hope we see Verlander only one of those series and not both. The Tigers realize those series are important, too. They will ensure that Verlander pitches in both. Hell, that guy is such an animal, I could see him asking for the ball in two games of a three game series. And pitching well, too.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Ozzie doesn't believe in scouting and doesn't believe in stats. So what exactly does he believe in? Bunting.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) If the hold up is Dayan being injured what the f*** is wrong with this front office. How do you hold up a trade for a guy that hasnt even had a single AB in the majors this season. Just put Rios in RF with De Aza at CF with Lilli as back up until Dayan is ready. You dont miss on a trade because a guy is injured. Unless the Sox are still thinking that they can move pieces and win the division, which is a difficult task for an elite front office, let alone the Sox. You never know. Maybe Rios and/or Lillibridge are parts of other deals that KW is also working on, so he can't rely on them to fill the vacancy. Dunn could always cover RF for a few games while we DH Vizquel, though.

Rumor: Rios/Thornton to Brewers for Gamel?
PorkChopExpress replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
With the likelihood that Weeks is out for a bit, could Lillibridge become a part of a deal with Milwaukee? -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) this ump is s*** I was wondering about this. I'm only watching on Gameday, so pitch location isn't exactly accurate, but whoever is inputting it seems to be in disagreement with this ump. -
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) Being a bench player and expecting someone to come out and be a consistent hitter especially is a true concern. Maybe even not a consistently good fielder. Lilli has had those times when he is just plain lights out and who can forget those great outfield defensive plays. Maybe he needs to get a chance to start in CF? I still have a struggle with that though. The full-time position that is. He may not be up to the grind of starting everyday, but is an excellent role player. Even if he struggles, will it be worse than what Rios is giving you right now? I'd like to give him the chance to show the answer to that question is "no." But De Aza is pretty intriguing, too. Didn't he have some ridiculously hot start to a season with the fish a few years ago?

Cooper hangs up on show after Dayan question

This team needs an enema. -
QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) I vote Reed. He's annihilated three levels in the minors this year. 80K's and 11BB's in 55 innings. He's on a Hudson-like fast track. So we'll be trading him for a more expensive player that plays the same position but is a veteran? And throwing in another prospect to boot?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) I can't see Martinez or Miller going anywhere, and even if they were available, who would we have to acquire them? Danks/Beuhrle (probably Danks, though) and Thornton?
-
I see Wily Mo Pena is available.

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) Does anyone think we are going to play differently against the Twins? It's going to be the same ol BS. Unless the Sox prove they can put up a fight against them and not lie down before the series even starts, this is the most logical way of thinking. Yes. Call me crazy, but with the feel-good vibes going around the clubhouse right now after getting Paulie into the All Star game, I see the team coming out with a little spring in their step. Plus, after Blackburn basically ridiculed them publicly for being incapable of adjusting in game, I think they may actually have some bulletin board material this time. I just feel good about this series.

Dunn last 7 games : .158/.304/.368/.672

QUOTE (kapzk @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Ozzie said he will certainly put him couple of games at 1B and mentioned the possibility of Dunn in the outfield. So does he sit Pierre or Quentin if he puts Dunn in the outfield? Obvious choice seems to be Pierre, but I doubt Ozzie even considers that a possibility. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 12:55 PM) Glad to see the Sox have figured out to swing at the first pitch strike now. Unless they can turn them into hits, though, it'll just mean CG for Blackburn. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) 2nd/3rd no one out=no runs.Again. Well, it was with one out, but the point is still made. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) Career vs Wakefield Pierre LF - 3 for 6, Ramirez SS - 1 for 9 Quentin RF - 4 for 9, 1 2B Konerko DH - 8 for 34, 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 HRs Dunn 1B - 1 for 2, 1 HR Lillibridge CF Vizquel 3B - 20 for 56, 4 2Bs, Castro C - 1 for 3, 1 HR Beckham 2B - 1 for 4 Rios - 11 for 51, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 HRs AJP - 9 for 29, 2 2Bs, 1 HR Baines - 5 for 33, 1 2B So you're telling me Dunn has a .500 average against Wakefield and hits nothing but HR's? I like the sound of that.

Sox @ Twins, Thursday, 8/19, M56 v The Stache
PorkChopExpress replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 19, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) For once can we put up a nice lead right out of the box instead of playing catchup after the 1st or 2nd inning? Seriously. Remember when the Sox used to score first? It just sets the tone for the game. Let's put up a five spot on Pavano in the first and never look back. -
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Aug 18, 2010 -> 10:47 PM) I figure Derrick Lee will be here as Ozzie tries to relive 2003. The only one off that team worth having is on the Tigers. So who was good back in 2003, is having a down year or years, and is willing to play for the league minimum. That pretty much is our blueprint. The diamond in the rough theory for building a winner. I'd take Carl Pavano right now. Even with that stupid mustache. And yeah, I don't see Sale going anywhere soon. I think the Sox feel lucky to have been able to draft him.

Official: Omar Vizquel Signs with Sox
PorkChopExpress replied to AWhiteSoxinNJ's topic in Pale Hose Talk
My guess on the mystery reclamation project is Daniel Cabrera. I believe he is a free agent, although I may be mistaken. He's really struggled lately, being released by the Nationals last year, but he has/had big upside. -
Sox Sign Ben Broussard to minor league deal
PorkChopExpress replied to easyw's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (easyw @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 02:03 AM) I know this sounds insane, but I've been told by someone close to the matter that the Sox are close to signing Ben Broussard. This move makes zero sense to me, but since I heard it, I figured I'd put it out there. Nice rumor. Looks like it turned out to be true. -
QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) Herm Schneider could help Pedro, and I really like the idea of giving him a shot with a depressed contract plus a lot of incentives. Lyon could compete for closer it KW has a plan to trade Jenks. Otherwise, another quality reliever never hurts. There is a mystery team in the mix for Lowe. I didn't mention it here because I realize like the rest of Soxtalk that he will be expensive and KW SAYS he is reducing payroll not to mention Boras. However, on Hot Stove on MLB Fri or Sat mentioned a mystery team for Lowe. The analyst speculated that the Brewers were that team. The Sox could be a mystery team since KW is under the radar or it could be a Boras ploy. KW would value Lowe's sinker. What if the Sox do spend some money and the cry poor stuff was KW's way of staying out of rumors. Garland and Sheets are still available. It would give KW the flexibility to trade a pitcher or put the Marquez/CR/AP guys in the 6th starter roll or in the pen. Danks MB Floyd Pedro/JC Lowe/Garland/Sheets/Bailey? Marquez/CR/AP I hope it's not just crap.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 01:18 AM) How come the Brewers can make a run at CC but we can't? Attendance has been great on the south side. Sox need to make a splash of some kind, folks. If we hadn't squeaked out Minnesota and won the division, people would be clamoring for a total rebuild. I don't think it's that the Sox can't, but that they won't. They don't like to give out long term contracts to pitchers, which CC will be looking for. He is going to want to stay in the NL because he wants to hit, so in order to go to the AL I think it will take an outrageous offer. That I do not want the Sox doing.
