  1. I understand all that but don’t you think if he exits the hospital on Monday or Tuesday that the doctor’s reporting today was factual? It’s not like he’s been incapacitated for weeks.
  2. Interesting. I guess only time will tell. If he’s out early next week then we will know they were telling the truth.
  3. Couldn’t they sign him and trade him? Wouldn’t he have some trade value?
  4. How would anyone know it wasn’t recorded in Walter Reed from that video? I thought they said there is a presidential suite there that I assume has very restricted access.
  5. He looked ok in the video he just posted.
  6. Over/under on the President leaving the hospital by Friday? How bad do you think this is?
  7. I’d much rather sign Brantley than Joc.
  8. Then you pass. But I’m not a fan of signing Joc so what other realistic options are there for RF? I don’t consider Springer a realistic option.
  9. Sorry, guess I have lost faith in the low batting average, high strikeout, platoon player making the move from the NL to AL coming off a bad year bounce back guys. Certainly seems like a recipe for another negative WAR starter in RF in 2021 to me. We should aim higher.
  10. Thought he had a club option still?
  11. Joc just seems like a guy that would bust with the Sox and make it 4 straight seasons of a negative value player starting in RF. Surely we can do better?
  12. I guess I’m tired of sending negative value guys out there like we have the last three seasons. Unless they’re willing to spend $130M+ for Springer (doubt they are), I don’t see many better RF options (that wouldn’t cost significant prospects in return).
  13. If you read my post, I said the Cubs chip in $15-20M in cash so its 3/$52-57M and no the Cubs are not getting a decent prospect in that deal. It’s a salary dump and Heyward would be getting paid what he’s worth as a 2 WAR/year RF.
  14. Springer and Bauer aren’t going to cost “the same money or a bit more” than the 3 years/$72M that Heyward has remaining. And again, the Cubs would have to pick up a good chunk of that to move him so it wouldn’t be the entire contract.
  15. Isn’t that near going rate in free agency tho? ~$10M for 1 WAR? Have Cubs pick up $5-6M a year and we throw in a low level minor leaguer or two. Everyone wants good defense in RF and someone that can hit righties. He checks both boxes.
  16. How do you figure? He just turned 31 and he’s only signed for three more seasons. Paid thru age 33 season... He’s got about $72M remaining. Have Cubs pick up $15-$20M and we’ll give them a nobody like we did in the Mazara deal.
  17. Dare I say it? Trade for Jason Heyward. Won’t cost much of anything other than $$$ and he’s hit righties well the last two seasons.
  18. The other thing that scares me about the rotation next season is what if Giolito regresses without McCann. It’s a real possibility and that would make the starting rotation even thinner than it is already.
  19. I’d be really happy with Bauer or Stroman plus Quintana. That provides some much needed depth to the rotation while the young guys either work in the minors (or Schaumburg) or out of the bullpen.
  20. Bauer + Stroman would make them easy ALC favorites as well as a top 2 or 3 team to win the pennant.
  21. This would be great. Too good to be true.
  22. Amazing a guy like Chapman was able to stay healthy all those years. Seems like very few of these do that throw 98+.
  23. I’m fine with Rodon as the last guy out of the pen, not the 4th
  24. The only bullpen decision I fault Ricky on is bringing in Rodon with a lead. That was a big mistake and really kind of set the tone for the rest of the game and the bullpen.
  25. Hoping Melvin’s brain freeze yesterday comes back to bite them here.
