  1. I guess paying $70M+ for a player that you can’t play in the playoffs (two years in a row with the Dodgers) was a red flag to me.
  2. Isn’t he only signing one year deals? If so, sign me up!
  3. Assuming you’ll get two quality starters out of Kopech, Lopez, Dunning, and Rodon is a big assumption at this point. Also, you can never have enough pitching. Would be nice to be 6/7 deep for once and if they really are that deep they can always move depth for a RF or whatever else is needed.
  4. Fine by me. Would be a big upgrade to the rotation.
  5. And with this mindset you’re paying for past production...
  6. They absolutely should spend for another starting pitcher this winter (tier 2 type like Keuchel). I just hope Grandal’s money doesn’t restrict them from doing that.
  7. My position was that McCann would be the better investment moving forward (production per $ spent). Rather than signing Grandal, I wanted McCann extended another 2-3 years and to use the savings for pitching help. Need pitching to win in the playoffs.
  8. Well considering McCann > Grandal this year and the Sox could have allocated Grandal’s $$$ for desperately needed starting pitching help, I’m not sure why you’re laughing.
  9. People laughed when I said signing Grandal was a misuse of resources when we were already set at catcher this year with McCann.
  10. And even with a vaccine, there are doubts it will be 100% effective. It’s effectiveness will likely be similar to the flu shot from what I’ve read recently. We’re going to have to learn to live with this for the rest of our lives most likely.
  11. Unless Putin comes to the rescue
  12. Better them than us https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-europe-53735718
  13. Did you read the article?
  14. Agree. I don’t see any of those 3 teams making noise this season. If the Sox can’t beat them out, they don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.
  15. If the season ended today, there’d be 4 playoff teams from the AL Central. Wild.
  16. No kidding right. If what they’re saying is true, this virus will have an enormous societal impact for years to come. We’re going to see elevated levels of unemployment for years, business closures in mass, and a major shift in how we form households (many more stay at home parents). We will also see a lot more home schooling and, if remote learning is retained for an extended period, a major overhaul of the public school system.
  17. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/614860/ worth a read. Sounds like we better get used to living with this virus for awhile...
  18. https://www.mlb.com/news/cuban-luis-robert-top-international-prospect-c216971522 I know we all downplayed the quote from the anonymous international scout 3 years ago but what if he was right ?
  19. Did Yelich lose a bunch of weight? He looks a lot thinner to me this year.
  20. https://mobile.twitter.com/baseball_ref/status/1290657519883497476 Said it before the season started, he’s a better version of Ronald Acuna and has a higher ceiling than Moncada.
  21. I see you’re coming around to my preseason statement that Robert will be a better version of Acuna ?
  22. And the 2006 lineup was excellent. It just didn’t have the same depth. SSS but the Sox currently lead the AL in runs scored, batting average and OPS.
  23. This lineup is more balanced top to bottom than the 2006 team.
  24. Did he really? My god, what a horrific trade that would be for the Sox.
