  1. Anybody see a pattern? Dumbass lawyer who doesn't bother to read ingredients that have always been listed for much of his lifetime is too much of spineless prick to control himself so he needs to sue the manufacturer to control it for him. More mindless passing the buck of responsibility from the consumer to the manufacturer. I think these guys should be disbarred for at least a yr when such suits are dismissed and classified as frivolous. I guess next we're going to have surgeon general's warning on everything from cookies to popcorn. What's next? It will be so commonplace, that no one's gonna pay any attention to it. Thus defeating it's original purpose. And taking the flip-side of the argument, maybe I like the Oreo's just the way they are. Kraft on behalf of the billions who helped consume some of the 450 billion Oreo's tell Joe to go blow!
  2. How many times do I have to post this in the PTC for 5/13 thread before it gets counted??????????
  3. No wonder I've only got 4 wins. You keep forgetting my picks! DAngelo Jimenez.

That's not what I heard. It's true JM's mirror comment was general in nature, but as I read it he was looking at Thomas when he said it.

    LMFAO!

Are you guys gaining on WSI? Why is iwritecode practically sleeping with b00b over at ESPN in an effort to recruit him?

    Frank

I do not recall him taking so many strikes in his heyday. I definitely think his problems are more mental than physical.
  7. I'm winning WSI & I plan to win this one too! 120 gms to go!
  8. I 2nd that. on all neighbors skulls for being sCrUB fans!
  9. How long has KW & JM been at the helm? I think in Chicago more so than other baseball cities it's a politically sensitive issue to fire a highly publicized minority hiring. I think KW took over in 2K1, so firing him after 2 yrs might be dicey. Getting him to resign for personal reasons would be much better. Not unlike the recent Krause firing .. er .. resignation.
  10. Until we win the division, ALWAYS root against the Twinks. We can catch KC, but if the Twinks get hot .. it's bye-bye division crown.
  11. He was referring to my "proposed" scoring system. And I would not count 4TB for a HR nor would I count it as an RBI. I would count 3 bases, & a RS. I would never count home as a base total because it's always a RS. I hate counting things twice. We are not talking about seasonal stats here, but rather PTC measure. An RBI should require a MOB in the PTC measure. Of course do we want to go back into the argument of how assenine it is to equate an RBI to a walk in this game? on the skull of the PTC scoring system author
  12. I do think it's wrong to single out Thomas the way Manuel does. The biggest failure is Koney followed by Maggs. Lee & Thomas aren't that much worse than last year. So if he's going to say that kind of s*** he should be looking at the 4&5 first.
  13. Though there is no single pc of evidence linking Saddam's regime directly to 9/11 there is a 30 yr history of Saddam supporting terrorist organizations & the Jihad in attacks against Israel. This is well documented. So to say that Saddam linked money, arms, & equipment played no role whatsoever is nieve . As for continuing this into Saudi land, well given that every 9/11 terrorist had a Saudi passport & was a Saudi citizen why the hell not? Is there any question that weeding out the terrorist element in Saudi Arabia would 1) make the world safer 2) make oil prices more stable No one's for war, but when you posess miliary sat tech far & above what any one else has that allows you to wipe out the enemy in a month's time it's really ridiculous panty-waste thinking to fear Egypt, Lybia, Jordan, or any other nation housing Jihadists.
  14. It's good to see another Carlos fan on the board! El Caballo!
  15. 5/5 = 5 pts 1/6 = 5 pts .. I don't see why you would ever count home as a base when it's always part of a run scored. Either that or make R equal to 1 pt. tie-breaker 4 vs 0. The 5/5 guy wins.
  16. Lee vs Encarnacion: career #'s Lee 2k3: 748 OPS, 292 OBP, 456 SLG Enc 2k3: 786 OPS, 319 OBP, 467 SLG Last 3 yrs: Lee 3yr: 819 OPS, 341 OBP, 478 SLG Lee vLH: 789 OPS, vRH: 827 OPS Lee vHm: 781 OPS, vRd: 859 OPS Lee vMth: 818 ops, 837 ops, 870 ops, 880 ops, 702 ops, 845 ops Lee vSit: non 802, ron 842, scp: 841 2&3: 940, close & late: 878 : ops Last 3 yrs: Enc 3yr: 750 OPS, 318 OBP, 432 SLG Enc vLH: 743 OPS, vRH: 753 OPS Enc vHm: 701 OPS, vRd: 798 OPS Enc vMth: 814 ops, 746 ops, 810 ops, 653 ops, 759 ops, 718 ops Enc vSit: non 799, ron 691, scp: 694 2&3: 621, close & late: 777 : ops Why would I trade for a RF to replace Lee when? 1) He can't hold Lee's jock in hitting 2) He avgs just 5 more SB's a yr than Lee 3) He can't hit in the clutch 4) His career OPS is 70 less than Lee's The grass is not always greener on the other side. If I were to take either of these guys for Lee it would be Pierre simply because: 1) He plays a decent CF 2) His SB's can make up for his weakness in the bat But neither of these guys posess Lee's potential. I suppose if you are thinking Enc's going to have a breakout year you can make an argument, but looking at his monthly avg's he always starts strong. Lee has started out weak this year which is abnormal with his monthly's. Fielding wise: Enc 1000, 1.63 rf, .887 zr Pie 0988, 2.06 rf, .742 zr Lee 1000, 2.16 rf, .873 zr I'm sticking with Lee. But I'd entertain the idea of picking up Pierre & Beckett/Penny/A-Gon for Maggs + spare parts. Florida could use a 1B as well. So maybe it wouldn't take Maggs, but rather Konerko instead. We have lots of spare parts in both the bats & arms dept.
  17. What is your penchant need to trade Carlos Lee? He's showing very good D prowess in LF this year. Did you watch the game on Sun? Did you see how he lifted himself on 1 hand over the wall to try & make that play? A few more feet & he might have gotten a glove on it. How about the play Sat night? Makes a sliding catch attempt & then quickly gets up & fires a bullet to 3B. Do you think the SOX win that game if he doesn't make that play? The reality of Carlos is that he's got decent speed for a big man, & a strong arm, & this year he looks pretty sound D. Offensively he trails Maggs by 12 in the TB, tied with Maggs in HR, & trails Maggs by 4 in RBI. A 745 OPS is not great by any stretch of the imagination, but a 455 SLG is not bad either. Clearly his K's have hurt in his 290 OBP. But he is capable of discipline at the plate as evidenced by last year. His just starting to wake up with a 4 gm hitting streak producing 1 HR & 2 RBI. I think it would be a mistake to trade him when he's only making 4.2mil and can likely be signed to a Val like contract. In contrast Pierre has a 668 OPS. Bolstered by 13W in 40G. His biggest asset is his speed with 17/21 SB so far. His career OPS is 727, with a 356 OBP. He can't hit LH's with a 690 OPS, & can barely hit RH's with a 735 OPS. But he is avg'g close to 30bb a season. He's also avg'g 7 HBP a yr. His Day & Night spreads are scary: Day 813 OPS, Night 678 OPS. The SOX play mostly at night. SEP is his big month with a career 840 OPS. Other than that he barely maintains his bat over 700 OPS. He's avg'd a little over 35 RBI, & 75 R per yr. Lee has avg'd over 85 RBI, & nearly 90 R per yr.
  18. Actually, I'm much better looking. He would probably pass for my Dad these days.
  19. You guys have absolutely no sense of humor whatsoever & definitely need therapy if you take what you read on a sports message board serious. I also think it's completely ridiculous to comment on a person with respect to their real life based on what you read in a message board. That re-defines the word guliability with respect to you & the net. The truth is I love to fight. I admit that. I see it as neither a weakness nor a strength. It just is what it is. See Fight Club. But I'm no bully. So the chances are if a kid was be bullied by another person for whatever reason I would probably get involved & try to defend the kid. It would matter not to me whether he wore an anti-Bush t-shirt. I see any intrusion of the Fed whether it's in honor of nationalism or otherwise as a bad thing. It should protect us from harms way from external & internal enemies, but it should not compromise our freedom to do so. When I say our I mean the "majority" so I am not against profiling where the facts merit a right to do so. I do not think that wearing such a shirt or even making threats is an act of treason. I do however believe the press has taken the liberty to defame, slander, or libel public figures too far. If I wear to suddenly print up a shirt of that kid saying .. he's an idiot, he can sue me for libel. But if he does the same to a public figure he gets away with it. I think that's a double standard that should be curtailed some. The same with the Hazing incident. The main problem with the incident is that the girls don't have respect for the rules of conduct nor the laws of the state. They probably are unaware of both. This is probably what the parents lawyers are going to argue when the plead their case for re-admission into school & file a suit for the embarrassment encurred. This is not an easy case, because whether the superindendant wishes to say that they are required to read & sign the handbook & that's the legal grounds for their knowledge of the rules, it's simply not that easy. The defense can argue that the girls are not literate enough to comprehend the rulebook & such. So as much as I would like to line up the instigators through a spanking machine the reality is that this is a much bigger problem in our country today relating to irresponsibilty & claiming ignorance to escape the consequences of one's actions. I feel Clinton amplified this feeling in his administration. First his "I didn't inhale" defense coming from a Harvard grad must have done wonders for our youth with respect to illicit drugs. Perhaps that's way 20% of all 11-17 yr old boys & girls use them these days. Secondly, his "we didn't have sex" defense, again from a Harvard grad must have done wonders for our youth with respect to oral sex. Both of these defenses reek of irresponsibility & defense through ignorance. I beleive if this is going to stop, it has to stop at the community level first. I'm not adverse to other consequences than time served. They may seem barbaric, but public punishment is certainly no worse than forced sodimy or torture at the ends of inmates in today's prisons. If you doubt that it exists I have a real story to tell you. A friend of my sisters several yrs back was arrested. I forgot what the charges were. We couldn't come up with his bail in time, so he had to spend a night at CCC. When we got him out the next day, he told us how he had to fight for his life all night long from being sodimized. When hearing that in conjunction with all the other prison stories like Oz, Scared Straight, etc. I no longer view time served as a humane form of correction. As for the rest of your post, you do yourself no justice in lying about others. Everyone knows I am a firm advocate that Fed government has no business in legislating morality. None whatsoever. Neither that from the Bible, or a moral relativism either. However; public schools have the responsibility to teach ethics. And those ethics should be reflective of the community that governs that school.

But men never do anything inhumane, right? And I'm sure your female acquaintances love it when you speak caveman to them. I've got to go. Trapped by the swirling voices. I only have a few minutes. She appreciates a man being a man & woman being a woman. So she expects me to open doors, push in chairs, or the pleasantries, manners, & politeness of a gentleman. But she also expects me to defend her honor & get in someone's face if need be. In fact that she cheers me on in that respect. However; when it comes to a debate and her view is different from mine, she's a very stubborn woman. It's best just to say "ok dear". Later, have a good night. Keep in mind this is a message board. I'm not like this in real life. I keep most of my opinions to myself in the real world. But that's why the internet's God greatest gift to man. It allows our alter-ego to emerge.
  21. Treasonist liberal lies lacking any proof. All of which apply to Clinton as well. Of course since we're dwelling on heresay why not bring up the statements of the sheriff in Arkansas who stated that when Clinton was governor he used to fly shipments of cocaine in. Or lets account the many statements of woman who claimed Clinton raped them when he was governor. The truth is no politician is honorable. The key is to choose the lesser of 2 evils. And btw, the liberal-speak of Swastikas & make-believe superior intelligence is so old that I have to ask .. don't you people ever get any new material? Swastikas are born from liberal ideas perpetrated by Federal control. Not a small local community spirit. I've got to go spar now. Later.
  22. The power of your intellectual arguments is so overwhelming, I feel helpless - I am the proud father of a Marine who protects the rights of people to call other people "candy asses" when they disagree - he voted for Gore, I would love to watch you call him a "candy ass" to his face - your duel would be very short. Acrually, more people voted for Gore than for Bush. I suppose that makes this a nation of candy asses. To be more precise, the Democratic machine produced more votes for Gore in the big metros than Bush could manage from the independant & conservative voters. That's why we live in a Republic of United States. It's not about who wins 5 cities but rather who has the largest representation in each of the 50 states. Bush won many more states than Gore. Now I don't much care for the winner take all system used in many states, but if you negate that Bush still wins the majority of electoral votes. And since the population shift is moving to the conservative South & Southwest each year, it bodes well for his 2004 re-election and for conservatives in general if they ever do away with the winner take all system in most states. I have no doubt that your marine son would win the duel. He's probably several yrs younger than I am. Though my kickboxing skills are not exactly novice. But that's beside the point. There is no honor in your son taking on an older man. So I'm sure there's a conservative minded marine willing to stand up to him.

Let the real SOX fans police the unruly cub fans and I promise you there won't be any more problems. History of attendance will prove who the cub fans are & that will justify the means by which real SOX fans choose to police them As for the hazing incident, I'm so sick & tired of this woman's lib s***. I think the punishment should be for all the instigators to participate in the Octagon against the UFC bad boys. Save the time & $ for the state to participate. Winner defines innocent or guilty. Or we can just line them up for one big massive spanking machine of men.
  24. says who? you! Who the :fyou are you? Some candy ass who voted for Clinton & Gore? Now there's a tandem with honor I'm sorry PA. It's just that when I see that symbol I can't help but think of the nemesis.
  25. Everyone knows me from ESPN that I'm big on community rights & down on Fed rights. So I agree the secret service have no business getting involved. This matter should be handled by the community & the Fed should mind it's own business. Fascism grows from Federal influence on society & not community influence. The stronger the community & weaker the Fed the less opportunity for thought control via legislation. People should be free to rule themselves while government provides for the national defense & GENERAL well-being of it's citizens. It's not government's role to protect and enforce every bleeping special interest some candy ass flaming liberal thinks he's entitled to. So yeah the kid's got the right to wear treasonist t-shirts that show disrespect to the president, the supreme court, and the rest of our nations institution. But in a responsible nation you should be ready to face the consequences of such actions. Just like the flamers who plan to sue Oreo & Mc D"s because of their fat & high cholesterol life-styles. :fyou. They should learn to be responsible for their own :fyou lives & lifestyles. It's freaking pathetic.
