  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 09:13 AM) really, the list of good QBs taken in the past 10 years isnt all that long. 1st through 7th round. Elite QBs are mostly older QBs like Brady and Manning Just to improve a teams chances they might wanna take about three QB's every draft. LOL Its like buying 10 lottery tickets to increase your odds.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) Yes, the day to day oscillations of SoxTalk during a season...or vicissitudes. Caulfield, once again I have no idea on gods green earth what the hell you are talking about.
  3. No matter what the outcomes I nominate Quinarvy to always start gamethreads. This is awesome. LOL
  4. If Shark pitched well today and got a win this thread would be at least 7 pages right now.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) With only six picks, I doubt it. They will have more when its all said and done. They are ready to wheel and deal because I am sure they know this team needs soooooooo much that six just isnt enough. You would have to hit on all 5-6 of them to be where you want to be.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) Hearing the callers he gets, he doesn't do half bad. He deals with some complete meatballs for a high majority of his calls. You can only sound so good when you are given a pile of meatballs to dress up. Rongey does his job fine. He is there to take the calls with the majority of them being idiots. He gives a reasonable response. Then its over.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) This type of rumor really seems to support the idea that the Bears dont see themselves as contenders this year. Pretty hard to imagine theyll get equal value to what Bennett brings. Yeah. I never understood the public opinion that switched over to them being in win now mode. They signed a bunch of free agents because guess what?...they didnt have enough players to field a team. They are in total rebuild mode and I am fine with that. Its the smartest thing to do. Trade every player that you can that you don't envision being here in 2-3 years. GET PICKS PACE!
  8. I dont know why exactly because he didnt say much we already dont know... but those tweets got me excited.
  9. Is the draft outdoors? We have so many auditoriums in this city and they are having it outdoors? I am confused.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) I want Shelton in 1st, Agholor in 2nd. I do love me some Amari Cooper though Shelton is the guy the Bears are going to take in my opinion. He has sort of faded out of the conversation in the past month or so with regards to the Bears but it seems like they have had targeted him from the start.
  11. I have to follow the game from the online boxscore and from the game thread so it wont be much of a different experience for me.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) Does anyone here know if the Sox players still come to the ball park to work out? Just curious. Oh the Orioles scheduled the Sox batting practice at the nearest CVS. Manfred did not infringe upon this decision.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) I'm pretty sure baltimore's minor league teams are all really close. Certainly there was a minor league stadium that would have jumped for joy to play there. TV would have been great. This is one of the reasons why baseball gets a bad rap for marketing. You have a perfect opportunity to take advantage of a bad situation and turn bad into something good and they didnt take it. The NFL and the NBA probably don't make these same mistakes.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 03:41 PM) The Red Wings-Lightning series is not over until game 7 tomorrow, and they won't start the 2nd round until the entire 1st round is done. Ahhhhh.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) Rongey just called out the Orioles on Facebook for this entire mess. Said they refused using the nationals park out of pettiness. He also said the Sox have no say in the matter, it was entirely the Orioles decision. The MLB could override the Orioles but chose not to. Burn. ALRIGHT THESE GUYS ARE IDIOTS
  16. Since they are going to play with no crowd at all they should have just played in like a local park district baseball field or high school baseball field. That would have been awesome.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc 15m15 minutes ago Word is Game 1 of #Blackhawks-Wild will be Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the United Center. Game 2 will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Why is there such a long amount of time between series like this?
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Im interested in how this is going to sound on the radio. We are probably going to hear Coaches and Players cheering pretty loudly I am sure they will adjust the mic sensitivity for the background noise that it wont sound too much different from a noon weekday game in April that is below freezing with flurries.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) This thing will probably blow over by next week. Maybe. Hopefully. Unless more and more non residents of Baltimore flock to the area to get in on the riot.
  20. I am still curious as to what the Orioles are going to do long term.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) The fact that not only have 0 of 2 games been played, but also they have no plans to play any games tells me that the ball was not only dropped, but kicked into the sewer. They havent made a public statement of what their plans are as far as I can tell. I would like to know what and why like everyone else.
  22. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) Exactly what reasoning are you referring to? It's imperative in business to understand the value of making a swift decision and the Orioles have failed to do so. The Orioles are a depository here and have a responsibility to act in accordance to the best interests of the White Sox and MLB. The fact that there are social issues that are in play here and its not because of a hurricane or natural disaster I am giving the benefit of the doubt that they have some reasoning behind what they are concluding. Maybe they have dropped the ball, I am not sure yet until I hear their side.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) I think that's deservable poo-pooing because we've seen them do it before. In 2004 a Marlins series mid-pennant race was relocated to the Cell due to a hurricane, which is quite short notice. In 2008 Hurricane Ike hit Houston and, after some resistance from the owner, the Astros were talked into/forced to allow the games to be relocated to Miller Park and >20,000 tickets were sold within about 18 hours. Thats a good point. We will see what their discussions were about soon enough I would hope. I cant see them dismissing valid options unless it really isnt feasible in their eyes. But I am willing to listen to their reasoning instead of jumping on the bandwagon of THESE GUYS ARE IDIOTS WHAT ARE THEY DOING when we just dont know all the facts about what is going on.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) It's one day vs a couple dozen games away from your own home park. Huge difference. The Orioles and MLB arent looking at this situation as a one day fix so Sox fans can get their game in. They should be anticipating this a little more long term than that seeing its probably not going to get better over night. They need to figure something out so we will see what they come up with.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 12:35 PM) Did they think it would be difficult or did they prefer to be able to continue to sell/showcase their own ballpark? Of course that is part of it but I still think people are poo pooing the idea that there is a whole lot that goes into moving a baseball game on the fly.
