  1. The Cubs thought it was too difficult to have the first part of the season in Milwaukee even with the knowledge and time to prepare months in advance. Say what you will but I think you guys are underestimating the difficulty in working out the logistics of moving a million dollar daily production to another city.
  2. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Taking Shane Ray at #7 without an injury or character concerns would be a terrible decision. He's just not a top ten player. You may wind up being right but you sound as though you are 100% sure of this. How the hell does anyone really know who is going to be great and who is not? Its a crap shoot. Everyone thought the Bears reached for Kyle Long and he became one of the better OL in the league.
  3. If I am the Bears brass and Shane Ray is the top guy on my list at the time they draft at number 7 I am still taking him.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 08:46 AM) probably Shipps A motherf***er would bring me into this thread somehow...well I be damned.
  5. So they are just playing one game today then? There is no way they can play a 7 start when there is a 1000 curfew in effect.
  6. I am curious as to how the Orioles start long term planning for themselves. If Baltimore becomes the heart of this movement as did Ferguson and there is going to be long term unrest in that city how do they play at home for the coming months?
  7. I am assuming since they closed the gates that they are cancelling the game then?
  8. So they havent cancelled this game yet? The situation is only getting worse there.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 10:36 AM) Fact...the Bears will draft a player in the 1st round tomorrow. More analysis to come at 9. LOL dork.
  10. He has the physical ability to be a good defender. He is very young and hopefully will become better in time. Some guys it just takes a while to get comfortable out there.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) There isn't a draft I don't love watching. Mlb doesn't even do a good job and I still love it. That said, the one thing that annoys me about NFL draft is the pseudo expertise of fans who go crazy thinking they know where a player should go because they read a bunch of mock drafts. There is always a bunch of groupthink hate or hype on certain players that is unwarranted. The idiots are always annoying in sports. The worst guys are the ones that pretend to know it all with no specific examples to back up their opinions and no real information to back up with what they saying as they deem fact. Also there are the people that do have some information and are unwilling to accept any other view points. But I do enjoy hearing the smart fans or analysts opinion about each guy in the draft.
  12. I know people say the draft is far over hyped and is much to do about nothing because we don't know how any of these guys are going to turn out but I am extremely excited as I am every year. To me, it gives everyone a huge insight into the mindset and plan of the teams management. The fact that every teams future hinges on the draft and the fact that it opens up awesome conversation about speculations and predictions. I am pumped for this week!
  13. For what? How? The Rangers arent going to pay that contract right?
  14. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) With Sale, I use pen not pencil. He is 5-0 in March/April the last 2 years. You are determined to jinx him, eh?
  15. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) We know Sale will win the opener. After that it is a 3 game series. The fact that we have penciled in Sale winning the opener worries me.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) Royals fans are becoming as angsty as their douchebag team. Royals fans have historically always been great fans with a high baseball IQ from what I seen. But winning can change all that. LOL
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 12:54 PM) If you can get a top QB, great, if you can't, we could end up far worse as a result of that. It is not easy to find serviceable QB's in this league. I have zero problem with the organization's plan to test Jay out with this new regime who is already knee deep in cleaning up a gigantic pile of poop. There are a lot of "if's" and you have to roll the dice somewhere. Pace has said the QB is the most important piece to building a winning team. Certainly they don't have much confidence that Jay will ever be the guy. Draft a QB every year and you hipe to eventually hit on someone capable. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) Keeping Cutler might be a better way to tank... True dat. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 02:29 PM) There is no QB in college that is worth tanking for. We dont know that yet. Its far to early to make that statement. QB's develop from here on all the way to the next draft and there could absolutely be someone that emerges in that time span.
  18. I would have loved for them to have put a retractable roof on the Cell. I would sure be more inclined to go to an April game or buy April tickets ahead of time if I know we have a roof that can close.
  19. I am thinking the best route the Bears could have taken would have been to get rid of Cutler so they would likely tank. This way you could have still built your defense but you would have been bad enough to get a high draft pick and possible top QB in next years draft. With Cutler and this new defense they are going to be good enough to be in the middle of the pack and for what?
  20. Very nice win. Maybe they are building on a little somethin somethin here.
  21. If they win fans will come. It may not be the best attendance in the league but it will be fine. If they lose (sub-500)...well good luck with that.
  22. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 04:42 PM) So just because the Cubs are more popular, I have to enjoy listening to co-workers and friends talk trash about the White Sox and rave about golden boy Theo??? If the White Sox are so unpopular, maybe they should move under the next ownership group because the constant discussion of attendance (or lack thereof) sure makes it sound like this franchise is dead. None of us like it but we arent going to get to the point becoming enraged and being consumed by it. I get it all the time at work or at the gym. Cubs fans and media are going to say things that we dont like. Have fun with it and dish it back. Its not that hard. We watch and cheer because its a fun thing, you have clearly let them get to you to the point where you arent having much fun with it anymore. 05' felt good didnt it? We were just as popular before that magical season happened. Who gives a crap of how the team is viewed by the outsiders. Sox fans are all over the place throughout this country and they are passionate. Look at this site for one.
  23. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) @RobDemovsky First bit of schedule information: Packers will host the Bears on Thanksgiving night. #ESPNNFL Oh thats rich.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) I know there are many that disagree with me on here, but there's really no excuse for the Cubs to not be one of the 5 best teams in baseball for the next decade. They've made some incredible trades the past few years (Samardzija and Feldman deals) while also leaving themselves a lot of payroll flexibility going forward. I'm still not sure why they didn't go after Scherzer instead of Lester though, but I'm happy they did. Totally agree with you. A lot of people that dont want the Cubs to succeed fall back on the idea that its the Cubs and they will find someway to ruin all of this. I just dont buy this reasoning this time. Epstein built this team the right way and now they will reap the benefits. Maybe not a WS victory but they are going to be a force to be reckoned with every year for a long time now. The only thing that I can see get in their way is injuries and it would have to be multiple season ending injuries of key players year in and year out.
  25. Until I heard it on the radio this morning I thought they had lost 3-0 last night. I thought they were joking when they said the Sox came back and won in the 9th and had to check my phone because I didnt believe it.
