  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) Well, I'll take the blame for misreading this. I completely thought it said "being" in the bullpen and not "beginning". That makes me feel better about the decision. I read it the same way and had the same thought.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Bears losses weren't so difficult to take listening to him and OB go nuts. From what I have been told, Buffone was a really nice guy. I met him years ago when I worked in an Emergency room. He brought his son in and he was very gracious even under conditions like that.
  3. I am shocked and really bummed out about this. Doug was great. Felt like I knew him just from listening to him on the radio.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) Doug Buffone This really really saddens me. I love him on the radio with the Bears post game. Really gonna miss his personality.
  5. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:05 PM) For being slurped by the Chicago media because he "drinks wine" and "rides his bicycle" and "wears fun glasses" and "has never won a World Series." I only made up one of those. He also has a camper and likes movies. Oh and he is positive. Veeeeeeery positive so that is the cure for all bad managing.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) greg
  7. Ozzie is coming back. Its been setting up for that for some time now.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) Alexei saying he tagged him didn't stop you from initially saying he missed the tag, and you looked at some replays, Robin didn't. Lets say that the replay shown that he didnt tag him. What would be saying then? Boy Robin sure was smart, he saved us from _____________ there! No there was no reason to not give it a whirl for s***s and giggles even if it was a no tag.
  9. Marvel puts out enough of really good movies that allow me to get my fix from those and I can easily pass on these bad Warner bros films like Man of Steel and the new Batman vs. Superman.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:44 PM) My take is taking this out in Robin is wrong. He did what any of us would have done without access to replay, which he had none, and the information he received. As to the Tigers feed and all of that, I don't know if the White Sox have access to all of their angles, and as I posted if it is anything like the NBA, NY might not have the angle. I do believe both teams should have access to the same angle that would be used to determine challenges. I don't know if they do, and I don't think anyone here knows either. Ther are a lot of assumptions, but the fact is Robin has to rely on the replay people and they told him the tag was missed. I think you have to review it just like they do in football at that point. If its close which it obviously was at least close to the naked eye, in the 9th inning you have to challenge. No matter what they say in the booth.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 03:17 PM) I just want to make sure I'm understanding this right, I can be watching the game in California on MLB.TV and clearly see Alexei placed the tag on the runner, yet the Sox video crew, paid employees in Detroit, don't have access to that angle? What is happening??? Uverse man. Damn Uverse.
  12. After the Sox awful start I for one am excited for the Hawks game tonight.
  13. There truly are very few ways a manager can directly effect the outcome of a game. Challenging a questionable play in the 9th is one of them. Ventura head out of ass please.
  14. Reading the game thread I would think Samardjiza was having an awful game.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) I bet he hits a bomb. Yeah I think that's a good bet actually. Crazy that he will be hitting cleanup. They have some confidence in his confidence, whew.
  16. Shark is going to be Shark today. I can feel it.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) Why wouldn't a coach play the guys he trusts the most. It should be the case. I hate to say it but he probably has a better idea of what makes a winning team more than us. As Herb Brooks said, "I don't want the best players just the right ones." (or something to that effect) QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 04:27 PM) And as much as we all hate it, you have to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, because all he does is win. All true. Actually makes me feel better about it now. Although its maddening sometimes of the lines that he puts out there. Like bringing in Vermette and not using him in a role that he would most likely succeed...then not playing him at all when he sucks at it. They gave up a first rounder because he was one of the most sought after trade options in he league right? I guess that's what makes him one of the top coaches in the league.
  18. I am sure they would LOVE for Bryant to develop at third though. His value decreases a lil bit moving him to the outfield. There are a lot of outfielders who can hit. Get yourself that offensive force out of a third basemen....
  19. I am admittedly a hockey idiot but I still love watching the Hawks. Can someone tell me why coach Q continues to play Rozsival while he is clearly incompetent and yet holds other guys completely accountable for their play and make them a healthy scratch? Its seems like he just picks and chooses he he wants to bestow accountability onto whomever he feels like at the time.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 16, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) While we are criticizing it, does anyone KNOW the Vince Coleman philosophy? Top of the page. Dick Allen put some quotes of his. I am sure there isnt a Coleman manuscript of base running out there but you get the sense from people that are around the team and around Coleman is that he is extremely aggressive and always wants them to take the extra base. Always wants them to be the aggressor and never play conservative.
  21. I think it would be the better outcome too but I think they will give Danks every chance in the world to prove that he should be there over Noesi. Even more than the years he has been given already. I think either of them will make for a good option out of the bullpen actually.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 04:31 PM) Of course you mean Danks Nah, I know they arent going to sit that money.
  23. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) My problem with Robin is he didn't play the percentages. As many have said, Eaton does not know how to bunt and should never have been asked to do so. The percentages say it was a bad decision. But the bigger problem is he had 2 of his best RBI men this year in Flowers and Beckham on the bench. Robin should have gone with the percentages there and hit for Melky and Jose and we would have at least tied the game. Besides Flowers at 1st and BecKham in left would have made for some exciting extra innings HOLY s***.
  24. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 04:19 PM) Thing is, so far its just like last year; assuming we'll get better while we throw away games now. Gonna have to be way better than .500 to win this division and Sox are looking like a .500 ceiling club. I dont ever remember assuming we would get better at any point last year.
  25. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) 2 years ago??? Did you go to the menards to buy light fixtures at the electrical department with your wife? I might've helped you before I left the homer glen store for another store. I remember helping a white guy wearing a white sox shirt that was with a black woman and thinking I wanted to shake their hand because my fiancee is black and that we'd prolly have a lot in common, lol. Had to have been me my man. I am sure that I am the only white guy in Homer Glen with a black wife. Very small world.
