Mariners (Vargas 6-5, 2.94) @ White Sox (Buehrle 9-8, 3.96)
shipps replied to LittleHurt05's topic in 2010 Season in Review
As the Soxtalk Ambassador SHIPPS says.....hooray. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) The Blackhawks have been doing that for a while now. I think it just gives the old-timers another reason to come around to games more often. Fire Dennis Savard as head coach, but make him an "ambassador" immediately after. Its a false and imaginary job title. I guess if you want to still keep a certain name tied to your organization but they are not talented or good enough for any other job you give them that title.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) The Bulls did something similar a week or so ago with Scottie Pippen...probably in an effort to spit in DWade's face. Thats exactly what came to my mind when I read about Thomas. Pippen is not what I would call an ambassador of anything other than his own ego.

Ambassador= FIAL Its just a made up title from what I seen. Its laughable....just saying.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Speaking of the Indians, I know it will never happen, but thoughts of Shin Soo Choo in RF for us gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. Well he may be sent back to fight in the Army in a year , right?
-
Thats the kind of deal that we would assume that the Mariners would ask for. Something that would be a rip off, basically. But who knows what they would ask for. As far as I am concerned that organization is in complete turmoil and might do something drastic that you wouldnt quite anticipate. I thought I titled this the Dreamers thread...lol

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) OK Shipps, let's be more honest here. Hypothetically, I'm playing Z. Here's my offer for Ichiro: Beckham, Hudson, Viciedo, Santos, and you take on either Jack Wilson or Chone Figgins (you get to pick). You give me that, I ask Ichiro to waive his NTC. No way. 1. Taking on the Figgins contract would have to make you give less prospects IMO. They would probably love to dump Figgins and that would be doing them a favor. 2. Two of those guys out of that group along with 2 other lower level prospects should be enough. Especially if you are including Beckham. 3. This is not a young Ichiro. I think people get confused about his actual value because he still looks like he did 5 years ago when you WOULD have had to put that kind of group of prospects to get him. But you dont have to do that now. This mans skills will decline, albeit still very, very valuable to our lineup. 4. Maybe I am completely underrating his market value.
-
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:14 AM) is this the sleeper thread or the dreamer thread? Ichiro for 2 more years would be awesome, but I can't see it happening. Well its not an Ichiro thread, so feel free to add a thought about a sleeper trade.
-
I would imagine that if they traded him and built a good foundation with young talent and produce a WINNING team that number would go up even more and be worth it for them. Whats the best case for them? Keep Ichiro that is still in great game shape for 2-3 more years and get 3 thousand more a game than the pathetic Sox attendance? If I was GM i would want to build a winner with a loaded team and not just target the Asian audience and end any other thought at that.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 08:27 AM) Because that's not nearly enough talent to offset the combination of fewer wins and revenue decreases I'd take if I sold on Ichiro. If nothing else, let's not forget...Seattle talked themselves into thinking they could compete for the West coming into this season. Even more the reason to just start over completely with a clean slate. They failed and have continued to fail with Ichiro and its not like they are selling out there stadium because of him. I would put a couple other prospects in on that trade if I were the Sox just not Beckham. Maybe Danks2 along with those two guys and possibly one of our bullpen arms and that is a sweet deal for them. I mean, how much longer could they build around Ichiro and think they are going to win?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) Seattle still makes a fortune having him on their team through marketing in Asia even when they're losing. If I were in their GM's seat, I would want to get a top of the league guy back if I'm dealing him (seriously, like a Strasbourg, Stanton, Heyward, etc.) since I'd be taking a huge revenue hit. Yeah they do but they know that will be wearing thinner and thinner in the seasons to come and they know that. He is 36 and you would have to project a decline. Why not get yourself some good young talent like Viciedo and Hudson and start building towards your future when your team is in such turmoil?
-
Who are the guys out there that are sleepers in this trade market? I somehow feel KW is gonna go and get a guy that most of us just dont have on the radar? Is there still a possibility to bring Ichiro? I am pretty sure that train has passed but IDK.

I thought this was just a Jenks "Rally the troops" thread but it is serious...great.

I hope you have a swell day young lad.

Kick Ass was a really fun movie that I enjoyed but it was definitely not because of Nic Cage.

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 08:35 AM) Stone said on M&H this morning that Kenny is going to make a "significant move" Take it FWIW I take it as something that is going to happen. Stone is right SO MUCH of the time when he goes out of his way to make bold statements.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) 2009 - Jake Peavy, Mark Kotsay (along with Tony Pena and Alex Rios before and after) 2008 - Ken Griffey Jr. 2007 - traded Iguchi and Mackowiak away 2006 - MacDougal, Alomar Jr, and Riske 2005 - Blum 2004 - Garcia, Contreras, Everett, and Alomar 2003 - Alomar, Everett, Schoenweis, and Sullivan 2002 - traded Durham, Lofton, Alomar Jr, and Howry 2001 - traded Baldwin (Barry/Berry fiasco) Williams has made some sort of trade before or during the deadline every single year he's been a GM. I'd bet on the Sox making some type of addition. 2010 - obviously due for *crickets*?
-
Ordonez used to get ripped-----Mackowiak...ripped----- Lee...ripped------- Pods...ripped------ Everett...ripped------Owens...ripped None of them great, most of them bad but none of them nearly as bad as Sox fans made them out to be.

I find it amazing how hard you guys are on Whitesox outfielders defense on this board throughout the years . If guys arent playing to the caliber of a Rios or Brian f'ing Anderson they are shredded a new one by everybody on here. LOL
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:48 AM) Who fills the 5th starter spot? Isnt this that time of year that Paul Byrd is available? LOL God, I would hate to have that man on my team. Always disliked his face.

Figgins and Wakamatsu come to blows in dugout
shipps replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
lostfan, whats with all the angryblackmanitis going around ? It is so frustrating for us white guys to deal with. -
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) Apparently we're at the top of CP3's list now according to Broussard. Deal being rumored is Nelson, VC, Ryan Anderson + 1st round picks for CP3 and Posey. Portland is the wildcard team in all of this I'd say though. But us getting CP3 means Miami vs. Orlando Eastern Conference Finals for the next 5 years probably. Sometimes I wanna tell you...you are not wanted in this thread, this is for BULLS FANS ONLY....then I remember, its not. God dammit.
-
Sooooooo Bobby doesnt realize that you have to prove yourself over and over again ALL THE TIME in sports and if you dont you will be demoted or let go/traded ? Its really simple and its a cut throat business. Get over and start producing and this will not be a problem.

I am going to go miniature golfing if the weather clears tonight...so once again I wil gladly not watch this game.
