QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) LOL. My bad. I didn't know that you knew how long it took for an inflammed shoulder to improve. You an MD or a DO? stop it, they are injecting with dye this time. That is used to determine and see if there is a small tear which would not have shown up on the first MRI. It maybe nothing, but if it just a strain or a sore shoulder it would have cleared up in 10 ten days.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 10:06 PM) By the way, Antonio Osuna pitched another scoreless inning with 1 strikeout for Mexico against Japan today. So far in the WBC, he has pitched 2 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts and has yet to give up a hit or a walk. http://ww2.worldbaseballclassic.com/2006/s...jpnint_mexint_1 somebody send Ozzie an email

one more inning and we get garcia back

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) I personally think they are checking to make sure his arm doesn't fall off. The question is if it is inflammation in the muscle or joint. I think they are checking because if it was just a strain or something small it would be better by now, its not, therefore they think its something worse, which means its something worse. I'm not saying I'm just saying

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Didn't Pods just have a minor hamstring problem last year....and it resulted in him being on the DL for about 20 days? Also, the fact that they're having their "shoulder doctors" come read the MRI is interesting. If the MRI was clean, they could just read that via satellite. Whats even more disturbing is that its going to be his second MRI. Which means they have no damn clue what it is. If its a tear, we are in trouble.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) Yay, another outstanding arm in the bullpen. :banghead Nomo doesn't throw strikes, and he has nothing left on his pitches. Considering he can't hold runners, throws a lot of balls in the dirt, and can barely reach 85 mph on his fastball, he shouldn't even be considered for a MLB bullpen spot. Your starting to sound like someone I know.

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) Man, the Cubs suck.... and Steve Stone looks like a genious (perhaps he is one?) stone looks great and I am certain as Stone was that he was hurt all along and the Cubs were covering this up to see if it cleared up. Unreal, I just heard him on the score on Sunday and he denied everything and said in essence that everyone will see when he pitches. well, Stone was right.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 08:56 PM) I'm just going to throw a name out there that hasn't been brough up since he was signed. Nomo. That's really about all I got on that. If that cat can consistently get some major league talent out in camp over the next few weeks, I'd have no problem carrying him until something better presents itself--in either a healthy Dustin Hermanson or some unforeseen situation. actually nomo was mentioned on the sox main page today. I hope to god he is not the guy we go to. ADDY I am extremely confident they will make a trade. they have too, there is nothing else we have. Ozzies quote today "We are looking for relievers and right now, they all [stink]. The opportunity is there and nobody wants to grab it." Now if I would have said that, people would say is there anyone you like?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 11:56 AM) Fade in Phone rings Kenny Williams glances at the Caller ID on his Blackberry, pauses a beat, then dumps the call to voice mail. Rick Hahn: Aren't you going to answer that? KW: Nah, it's just quickman. Again. All he's going to do is tell me that you suck, and the minor league system sucks. I don't need that. I could get that at home from my wife. Fade out /end scene Sorry to jump the thread, but this was hysterical. May not have been your intent, but was funny. Let me add this conversation..Today. Rick hahn: Hey kenny your not going to tell him you signed a guy with no hands are you? Kenny: Why not its better than what we have in our system anyway.

QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 09:07 AM) RMEJICO, great job on that analysis, interesting way to look at it. I still have concerns, those being I expect Freddy Garcia to miss a few turns this year. The lefty thing will sort itself out. As for another righthander, that's a must, whether Hermanson is healthy or not. Cooper has said all along that Vizcaino was an unsung hero in 2005 and Cooper is right. He was a whipping boy here and certainly not the world's greatest pitcher but he took the ball and ate innings. Guillen does not want any health question marks, he is adamant about having guys to rely on. Also a big thing to consider is they like pitchers in certain roles. If they start flipping guys around it makes things more difficult. I spent about 45 mins. looking at other team's spring training reports last nite, there are at least a dozen guys who are on the bubble and supposedly out of options. Therefore I continue to remain confident they will get this resolved. On another note, they really like this Boone Logan guy. Sounds crazy to me but who knows. I am anxious to see him pitch, it appears he throws strikes. i will let you know about boone when I get down there. hopefully there will be more in camp soon for me to complain about.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Um, just because you have it in your head that Politte and Cotts will suck doesn't mean Kenny does. If Hermanson was healthy, there wouldn't even be anything to really talk about. Kenny gambled that he would be. He was wrong. Now lets exhibit some patience and give the man a chance to do what he does best. Ok Jordan I am with you on the patience part, I understand where your coming from... He has until the end of the week

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) No, I mean neither will match the 3.78 Vizcaino put up last year. He didn't pay as much attention to the bullpen as he did last offseason when in reality it was his #1 priority. Coming in he had Shingo who was coming off a year just as good or better than Jenks had. Hermanson, Politte, Cotts all who will be hard-pressed to match or even come close to what they did last year. Marte who was not good, but is a hall of famer compared to some of the guys they signed. And Vizcaino, who wasn't great, but was a guy with a rubber arm who could eat innings. BMac is probably better than any of them, but I can't see the Sox throwing him in 65 games. The other thing he had was back-up plans if guys faltered. Shingo faltered in comes Hermanson. Hermanson goes down, there's Jenks. Pitchers are going to go down, that's just part of the game. The Sox only used 6 starters last year. Its been a long time since a team was able to say that, and that scenerio probably won't repeat itself. That would mean BMac will most likely be in the rotation at some point, making the bullpen worse. It is a huge problem for a team trying to win another championship. A thin bullpen has been the achilles heel of many otherwise great teams. I totally agree again. Injuries will happen. We have very little for backup. that is why I responded to Jim saying we need to sign three guys if they come available and hide one in AAA if possible. I thougth tracey would be a guy we could count on for 15 days, hell he still might be, but right now he does not have alot of command.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) Gload probably isn't enough to net Williamson. Besides, they have John Mabry to back up Derrek Lee anyways. Lee doesn't ride the pine much. Agreed, it seems like KW has no problem bringing in Ozzie's buddies (Garcia, Vazquez). true, good points, Damn it
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) We have talked about Williamson, he would be a great fit. Whether it's a shell game or not in terms of his availability, we'll know in 2-3 weeks. That article about Boone Logan is a good one, the most interesting part is Ozzie saying his 25 man roster could have some surprises. Well considering there are two bullpen spots open, I would say he is right.

despite what the sox say, once urbina gets out of jail, he is in a sox uni.

QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) Someone on this thread made a very valid point, look for teams who want to lop some payroll. Similarly, look for teams who like our fringe guys. Washington has a ton of arms in camp, so do the Mets, those two teams always make personnel mistakes. Piratees or Rockies might want Borchard, as for Gload your guess is as good as mine. I still think williamson is available. I know what the Cubs say no in the press, but I think its to get the asking price higher. The cubs have a few arms this year in the pen. Love to give them back gload.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Why would the World Champions fill their staff with lesser team's cuts? because they are better than than the crap we have in the minors, and they made a mistake by not addressing this need in the off season. Either that or trade a top prospect and get a real good pitcher.
-
ok back on subject, Jim, what the hell is out there? there has to be a handful of players about to get cut, any speculation on who?

QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:45 PM) I hear it's a dead end street too. leads right to the tombs.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) So you don't think getting that street named after him in Cairo, GA helped keep his feet on the ground? that street was made out of sand.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) He will be more screwed up in the mind by the end of April there. Fogg needs to realize that he is and always will be a mediocre starter at best. He could be a pretty decent middle reliever. I loved the foghorn when he used to strikeout guys at Comiskey Park II. I agree completely, fogg needs to get real So does Willie Harris.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) Quickman, I don't get where you're coming from. You've been saying for the last couple days that just about everybody in our minor league system, all the invitees, ect, suck. Yet you're endorsing Danny Graves? Do you just want to put a guy in there just to have him there? You've gotta have some patience, man. Give Kenny a chance. Jeez! i am saying I would rather take a chance with a major league pitcher than any minor league pitcher for a team like this. We have zero room for minor league tryouts and dealing with fragile minds. We are the champions and we should get players that know pressure and know how to work out issues. i am not advocating that Graves is a superstar, I do think he might be available, and if so I would rather take my chance on him than with the crap we have in the minors.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:29 PM) He should stop wasting his time looking internally. There is nothing there that can help in 2006. I am still trying to figure out the Munoz outrighting. Even gutless, he is just as good or better than the other dopes they throw out there. They outrighted him because they can. He is not in there plans ever. he will be a minor league ballplayer and help at AAA. After the game he will rake the field.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) Not in March it won't. I will refer back to yesterdays discussion ... the White Sox have 7 spots open on the 40 man, it was set up that way for a reason. I am quite certain they have 3-4 guys they have their eyes on who could become available very soon. Can't prove it, but there's a reason why they have only 33 on the 40 man. yes jim I realize that, I am certain if certain people get cut they will pounce. its still a hole. We need to pick up 3 of these guys, and keep one in AAA if we can, because i don't want to see Sammy haegar unless he is opening up for aerosmith.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) Graves has been hippo s*** since 2002. We may as well give the spot to Tracey. Well tracey can't hit the side of a barn. His command is way off. i am tired of these guys registering 88, 89 miles an hour. there are only a few buerhle's in the world.
