  1. Harvey. although apparently the mets are going to run it back with him
  2. QUOTE (Scoots @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) Yeah, he was such a homer. WHen the White Sox won the ALDS, he said "Congratulations to the Chicago White Sox" and then proceeded to say "Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox as well." Like what are you congratulating them for? They just got swept. Go home. Regardless, glad he doesn't call baseball games anymore (at least I think). He can stick to football. He's doing the red sox - astros series for ESPN radio.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) If he performs, he's opting out. If he collapses, then you are stuck with the long-term nature of the deal. Get creative with the insurance you associate with the contract. I would go for it. A lot of people want to sign Machado next off season. He could conceivably demand a bigger contract than stantons.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) If we are going to change, I nominate the true heroes of this franchise's history - Chris Widger and Timo Perez. I thought the correct answer was always Lyle Mouton?
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) Just like Avi, open to moving him if the deal is right, but definitely don't extend him now. The front office can't back off the "laser focus" of the rebuild. I agree about waiting on Avi. I would support an Abreu extension though. It's risky to follow too closely to any plan. Plenty of guys won't work out so it's nice to start with a sure thing.
  6. Play it out. If he has two good seasons great. We'll still have enough of the roster being on cheap rookie scale deals to offer him an extension in the 2019 offseason. I wouldnt want to go more than 4 or 5 years at that point.
  7. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 09:43 AM) Moncada is playing some good baseball lately since switching bat weights. He's always had that eye, but it's nice to see him making adjustments at the MLB level. The pitchers and fielders positiioning will undoubtedly readjust to him as they gather more info on him So it will be interesting to see if he again can readjust. I still maintain that he won’t be that “next level” player that we are all expecting and hoping for however I do think he’ll have a few all-star seasons and be an above replacement player based on his speed, power and tools. Side note to make on this. I wish we would just extend Abreu in the next 12 months. I think he likes this team and is comfortable with the direction they are headed. After he knocks in a few more RBI’s he’ll be one of FOUR players to ever start their career with 20+ HR and 100+ RBI’s in his first 4 seasons. I believe the others are Ted Williams, Dimaggio, and Pujols. To think some of the lineups he’s done this on?? I just think it’s foolish to not keep him around. I think he’s the type of guy who’s going to be productive until 34-35. He puts in the work, is a student of the game. A great mentor for the young guys. Can slide into a DH role as necessary, etc. He’s arb eligible, but will be a FA earliest in 2020. If half way through 2018 he’s again doing the same at age 31? I say you buy out his 2019 and 2020 arb years and extend him 2 more additional years. That’s 4 year extension at say? $15-17mm a year? I’m not smart enough on arb numbers. Not sure what he’ll get each year for 3 years. But if you go over market value there, and then under market value for the last two years? I think its smart. He only has two more arb years. 2018 and 2019. As you said, this is his fourth season.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) He could well be done, but those are the kinds of signings I would expect from the White Sox. They are trash picking this year. With this in mind, anyone think Herm/Coop could bring Matt Harvey back to life? I don't know what his exact contract situation is but he definitely needs a change of scenery.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 03:08 PM) 6 X's on base for Moncada. and 5 runs scored
  10. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) Moncada another base hit. And he stole second. He's feelin it
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 02:16 PM) You're right. GB at Atlanta. I'm leaning Carr since the Jets might go winless and it's the Raiders' home opener. Personally, I could never choose to bench rodgers.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) LG has been very good, look forward too watching him next year. Yes he's been great. K rate is a little low but hes pitched very well. Can't wait to see him in the rotation next season.
  13. Lost in the 13th Inning Burger and Call both went 3-6 Game 2 tonight. Games 3, 4 & 5 will all be in Greenville so they'll have to win it on the road.
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 12:49 PM) who the f*** is brantly? 3rd catcher
  15. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 12, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) Looks pretty balanced throughout only one long road trip Milwaukee at home sucks but at Pittsburgh and St Louis I wish Pittsburgh or STL was a weekend series. Alas, I'll probably go to Minn for either the April or Sept series. seems like a lot of 4 game series
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) Kanny PPD GF wins. Dedelow hit a HR They will take on Ogden for the Pioneer League title starting Thursday.
  17. SCOREBOARD Kannapolis takes on Greenville in game 1 of a best of 5 championship series. Yelmison Peralta starts. Great falls takes on Missoula in game 2 of a best of 3 series. Rigler starts.
  18. I played Gillislee and Hunt on 2 of my teams. End the season now
  19. Is Petricka done or was this just a bad year due to injuries? Wondering if hes someone they are counting on to be in the bullpen next year.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 03:37 PM) I know some have quit on Anderson already, but there are two things in my head. #1, he is another that was pretty raw when he got here. #2, the kid just went through the worst year of his life. I really want to give the kid a winter to get away and come back refreshed in 2018. From a SSS point of view, he really has been much better over the last month or so. For August he put up a line of .259/.272/.500/.772. That line including seasons bests of 5 homers and 16 RBI's and 56 TB. It is supported by a realistic to low .312 BABIP. In September he has been even better in just five games. It is also worth mentioning that despite the error total, he has played a much better second half defensively. He had 18 errors in April-> June in 69 games. Since July he has made 8 errors in 54 games. He made 14 errors in 99 games last year. The post July pace is almost identical to his 2016 work where he was a plus defender. Even despite what was about a worst case scenario for about half a season, Anderson is barely under a 0 WAR player, and rising quickly. I realize its too early to relegate Anderson to a platoon player, but I checked and his career numbers are much better against lhp. .802 OPS vs .664 OPS Perhaps next year Leury could start at SS against some tough right handers. Help Anderson and be another option for getting more guys at bats throughout the season.
  21. Kannys game yesterday was postponed until tonight. They will have Luis Martinez on the mound for game one of their playoff series against Greensboro (they are an affiliate of the Marlins). Great Falls plays against Missoula as well. They have a shot at a playoff birth. SCOREBOARD
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) Thanks. Just when I had forgotten about Niko. Did he ever sign with anyone?
