If U.S. Cellular does go away, is it possibly they forfeit the naming rights?

As long as no pictures like this of Viciedo surface on the web, I'm cool.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 04:56 PM) Kroeger just homered. solo . It's a shame we'll be seeing Wise or Owens on the team and Kroeger being left out.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) Anyone ruling out Owens as the favorite right now is probably wrong. I heard a radio clip tonight where Ozzie said Owens is swinging the bat great right now, he's just not finding holes. oh god... I'd like to see one time where Owens actually swung the bat like a major leaguer. Hell, I'd settle if Owens swung the bat like he actually knows what he's doing.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Aglh...o&type=lgns Jeff Passon (yahoo sports) in-depth coverage of the controvery with many quotes (albeit none from HC). I really wonder what Cabrera's, and the rest of the teams view on Chavez is. Do most of them support Chavez but just not state their views publicly. Or do they disagree with Ordonez and Chavez but feel baseball is no. 1 and that should be their main focus?

I'll believe it when I see it. Also, is the beginning of the season a week later then it usually is?

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 10:58 AM) Why are you Cubano's little cheerleader everytime he brings up communism and capitalism? I'm just a big fan of his story, and his story makes me realize even with all of the country's problems, it's still the best damn country in the world.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) No matter what he says, I still cant believe that he was never on the juice. I think you have to question anybody who played in the past 10-20 years, especially someone as large as Pujols. Pujols has always been big though. This is him at around 20: It's not the greatest picture, but you can tell he has a big frame that still needs to fill out. This is obviously a more modern picture. I don't see any abnormal growth a la Barry Bonds, but it's obvious he has filled out his body and is in great shape. Maybe part of his strength and conditioning might have been PED's, but I hope not. And really, until we have a reason to suspect him, I don't see why he should automatically be considered a PED user.

QUOTE (Cubano @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) I know this Thread has politics conotation, but it refers to a former White Sox and to what happened during a WBC game in Miami. If the Mods think they should move, that is fine. They are in charge anyways. I just wanted to say, Cubano, you are the man!

QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 08:59 AM) I was impressed he hit that GS off the righty yesterday...His defense is enough to let him have the CF job if he can pull .230 at the plate You mustn't forget that it was a 2-1 count with a nothing fastball right down the middle off of a guy who will be lucky to ever play in the major leagues. I'm not taking anything away from the home run as Anderson did come with the big hit, but it wasn't really all that impressive. You put any other batter in that situation and he likely at the very least gets a sac fly, 9 out of 10 times. If BA can start doing that vs. MLB pitching during the regular season however, that's a different story.

QUOTE (vandy125 @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) Just a point off of this, I would hope that you know where the term "2nd city" came from... From Wikipedia: I do know that, but we are indeed a 2nd city. New York and LA are always considered the tops, then Chicago. While it actually means something else, Chicago is a 2nd city.

QUOTE (That funky motion @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) Isn't Ozzie friends with HC? I don't think any of them speak out against him, for fear of what might happen to their family I haven't heard Ozzie say anything about Chavez, and lets hope he keeps it that way.

As an everyday player, I think he'd be marginally better than he was in 06. However, he can definitely succeed in a platoon in CF and 4th OF role.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Mar 13, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) The exception for rape victims is a compelling case, but it somehow then places a lower value on the life based on how or why the person was conceived. And that doesn't seem right either. True, but you can't expect anyone to have to raise a child or even give birth to one when sex wasn't even wanted and have the mother reminded of the rape and the rapist every time she sees the child. If they want to keep the child, that's one thing, and more power to any mother who makes that choice.

I really don't care much about Illinois any more. First chance I get, I'm out of this sorry excuse for a state. It could be a great state and Chicago could be better than a "2nd city", but with the enormous amount of corruption here that's been going on for so very long, it's tough to see any light ahead. I view Pat Quinn as basically a lap dog being used to raise the taxes, get booted out of office after this term is up, and leaving the door wide open for Michael's daughter to become governor.

I hope when his MLB career is over he decides to to stay in Venezuela. He's a bum, I'm glad to this day we didn't give him that extra million or so that he wanted. The guy is a loser, and he will be a loser for the rest of his career. However, this should be in the forum called the filibuster as it deals with politics and such.

With our current team, I'd like to see him bat 2nd with Getz leading off. However, ideally, I'd prefer him in about the 6 hole, but you got to adjust for what you have.

QUOTE (Cubano @ Mar 14, 2009 -> 05:46 PM) It is true, but he has not played for the last couple of games. Castillo was playing with Panama in the WBC so he has a few more AB. By the way, I read that Owens went 0-4 in a B game. Did Viciedo play there? Where do you find info on B games? Thanks, I don't really think they post info about B or split squad games, but I think the stats from those games go into the main stats page on mlb.com Also, it seems highly likely we'll be seeing Viciedo in AA or AAA to begin the year (preferably AA, that's where all the talent is). It was Fields job to lose, and so far he's been raking.

RotoWorld Suggests White Sox should sign Jim Edmonds
BearSox replied to TLAK's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'll go on the record and say that Getz would be a better leadoff man then both Wise and Owens. Getz actually makes a ton of sense. Doesn't K much, has a great eye and can walk, has above average speed, and is a gap-to-gap line drive hitter. -
KW: Looking for leadoff hitters in 2009 draft
BearSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would love Kentrail Davis from Tennessee, but I believe his agent is Boras and that he is likely to go in the 5-15 range. -
RotoWorld Suggests White Sox should sign Jim Edmonds
BearSox replied to TLAK's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'd be all for it. Edmonds would immediately be the best baseball player of all 4, and while he's old, platooning him out there in CF with Anderson, similar to how the cubs did it with Reed. I think if he could come in and give us 300+ AB's, a 15 homers, 50 rbi's, a BA around .240, and an OPS in the low .800's, as well as decent D in center, he'd be an upgrade over both Owens and Wise. And I don't think anyone wants Anderson to have CF all to himself. -
I still think Getz is the best option at leadoff so far. He is the most competent baseball player out of all the options we have for leadoff.
-
At least he ain't Owens, but still.... WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO MENTION OF KROEGER IN CF!?!?!? Just put him out there for a couple of games and see how he does!

The kid looks like he's already in his 20's. Either he matured really young and fast or he's had some help in the form of HGH. Now, I'm not accusing him of doing it, but I wouldn't be surprised after reading that article, if his dad gave him some. No question the talent is there. Ridiculous bat speed. I wonder what the size of that bat was. I'm not a big fan of the stuff he does with twisting his legs and such, but whatever works. Now, next step is to see how he handles pro pitching (cause he's obviously gonna be a top 5 draft pick in 2011 and get big money, if everything goes as planned). Also, I think he's aiming a bit high with Micky Mantle. He should focus on making it to the pros first.
