  1. From everything I have seen, I'd say O'Reilly is probably the most centric of all the prime time "news" shows. Some might disagree with me, but O'Reilly is pretty much in the middle, IMO. He is socially conservative, but most of his other views are usually somewhere in the middle. In fact, most conservatives really dislike O'Reilly.
  2. For over the past 100 years, people have identified themselves as democrats moreso than Republicans. There was this real good chart in my gov book that showed how much more people identified themselves as democrat than republican. With this knowledge, you'd assume Democrats would win everything, but Democrats are not as loyal to their party as Republicans are. With all these polls and such, most people do identify themselves as more moderate or conservative than liberal or progressive. So, IMO, elections basically come down not to party affiliation, but rather who people identify themselves with more. As for the future, I think we will see a reverse of what we saw before (Republicans in the office, dems in the congress). I think Democrates will dominate the office for many years to come, but people will want balance and vote republican for congress.
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) agreed, but NEWS networks should not be putting this stuff out there. Create another network if you want, but putting it under the guise of actual news is a problem. So does this mean you dislike msnbc as well?
  4. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) for the 18th time i'm not a pro-Obama guy. see my thread about wiretapping. but at a basic level, i'm not fan of talking heads either. Olberman can be funny and have some good points, but i keep waiting for a vein in his neck to burst when he gets all worked up. I don't dig that. BUT the difference is that inciting liberals is not really dangerous... because we're already anti-gun. lol. inciting gun-toting republicans who are "terrified" of Obama becomes dangerous as we saw with the recent shootings... that's kind of the crux of my criticism. Whoa now, if you're talking about that shooting where the guy was "worried about his guns getting taken away so he went on a shooting rampage", that is a terrible example. That guy was as much as of republican as he was a democrat. That guy was a skin head, and just a nut case. Tell me, how exactly is going on a shooting rampage gonna save your guns? Also, these shows rarely have even talked about taking away guns in a while. These shows are mainly focused on out of control spending and illegals now.
  5. anyone see that video of the college student asking Barney Frank a question? http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/200...er_economy.html My gosh, how is that loser Frank still in office? I'm sure that college student who asked Frank a "tough" question is a homophobe as well.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Because watching a borderline-crazy man inch closer and closer to completely losing his sanity on the air is solid entertainment? Oh yeah, I'm sure that's where all his viewers come from. I'm sure that's why all these people watch O'Reilly and Hannity, and listen to Rush and Savage...
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) it's as fair and balanced as fox is. i know, it's not unbiased, but how could a sane person NOT think that Beck is dangerous? no he has not yet incited violence, but he IS inciting a high level of anger with absolutely ZERO critical analysis. He's just trying to create an atmosphere of fear. Just because he doesn't agree with the president, doesn't mean the president is setting us on fire I think I'm fairly sane, and I agree with a lot of Beck's point of views. So do a lot of moderate-conservative people. Sure he goes a little overboard at times, but millions of people agree with him. Think about it, he's the 3rd most viewed show on cable's most viewed news channel. Left or right, I find the comments section in that link to be hilarious.
  8. Is nice that you used such a fair and balanced source for the story. Glenn Beck is crazy, but he has not once incited violence. I watch his show everyday, and he goes overboard with some of his stuff, like the gasoline thing. But that gasoline thing was just his metaphor for what he feels Obama is doing. If you ever watched more then a 2 minute clip of his show, you'd realize that he wants people to stand up for their beliefs and don't take anymore of the same old s*** politicians have been feeding us. He has never once called for violence. If you disagree, fine, don't watch it. But there is a reason why Glenn Beck is one of the most viewed cable news shows right now.
  9. We got a really good trio down at Kanny right now. Infante, Hudson, and Dexter Carter. I've never been more excited for the future.

    LOST!!!!

Damn, wish I kinda didn't read that, but it makes a lot of sense.
  11. lets see how Getz hits lefties first, IMO.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 10, 2009 -> 07:46 AM) Holy frijoles... Did anyone else see Gregory Infante's line from his start for Kanny today? 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 11 K Mercy! look 2 posts up
  13. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) Everybody says this s***...and I just don't see it. How was '05 different from '09 speed lineup wise? 2005 Speed/non slow - LF, CF, 2b 2009 Speed/non slow - LF, CF, 2b, SS, 3b Fields is faster than Crede - 09 Xei is faster than Uribe - 09 Getz is faster than Gooch - 09 Wise/Anderson is faster than Rowand - 09 Pods was faster than TCQ - 05 Thome vs. Everett/Hurt = wash AJP, Dye, PK were never "fast" Those don't add up to us being "slower" this year. We won the WS in 2005 because of pitching....thats all there is to it, Pods/Rowands "grindyness" did not win us a ring. We hit homeruns and our pitching shut everybody the f*** down, simple as that. People need to stop romanticizing that we were winning every game with a god damn bunt, steal, and suicide squeeze.....it did not happen like that. The difference is no leadoff hitter, no center fielder, and (most likely) much weaker starting pitching.
  14. Damn impressive outing for Infante. 6 innings, 11 K's, 2 walks, no hits.
  15. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) And so what happens? Kuhn gets moved to LF. That's the thing about minor league baseball... always surprises. Right now, I believe Kuhn is being looked at as a utility man, so it makes sense to try him out at a lot of positions.
  16. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 04:38 PM) I think we need to stop the hand-wringing about Alexi. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't everybody deriding the "Cuban Missle" this time last year because he couldn't hit anything? By the end of the season he was The Man, cranking grand slams out to save our playoff hopes. I think it's a cold weather thing with him. I don't think all the fears for Quentin and Ramirez are coming from this series, but rather just whats bound to happen. Sophomore slumps are not uncommon, and wrist injuries are a b****. I've had my fairs about Quentin and Ramirez since before spring. These games haven't done anything to calm my fears, but it's still very early.

    LOST!!!!

What I found interested was how Ben talked about when he getting shot as a memory... but did he not remember Sawyer, Juliet, etc, and most importantly, Sayid?
  18. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 04:31 PM) That very well could be. I'm still not convinced that Danks or Floyd can repeat what they did last year (although I'd love for them to prove me wrong). And it's tough to imagine Quentin putting up MVP-caliber numbers again. Out of those four, I'd say that Alexei has the best chance of improving. Of course, most of this is an illogical gut feeling on my part, so who knows. I think Quentin will have a very mediocre year. If anything, hopefully his bat will start to come around after the break. Wrist injuries are a b****. I know it's kind of looking ahead, but I can see a huge 2010 for Quentin. As for Danks, it seemed to me he was using his curve a lot more and a lot more effectively. I think he might actually improve the most.
  19. Hopefully my fears of a sophomore slump for Ramirez don't become true. He's struggling now, but hopefully his bat will heat up with the weather. I think pitchers have made adjustments against him though, so lets see if Ramirez can make adjustments of his own.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) Getz has been too patient at the plate, and he's taking very hittable pitches and falling behind in the count. Hopefully with experience comes better top of the order instincts. Yes, you're right, he is going down a very Swisher type road right now. Luckily he's just a rookie and he still has to develop.
  21. QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 04:13 PM) Wonder how long until bearsox sees this. This reminds me, I need to update my Sweeney tracker. I'm Sweeney's biggest fan, but it's been what 2-3 games? Lets wait a couple more months first.
  22. Just terrible news. RIP. He just pitched the other night to. Tragic news.
  23. I'm not loving Pierzynski in the 2-hole, but hopefully when Alexei starts to warm up, he can move up there.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 9, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) 1. Beaning means hitting them in the head, which did not happen. 2. No way it was intentional, though I am sure he was trying to throw inside, to get him off the plate. 3. TCQ's reaction wasn't even that bad, the catcher just got nervous, he wasn't going after the pitcher or anything. 4. There is nothing to retaliate for. Agreed, it looked to me that Quentin saw Olivo step out over the plate, so he was gonna walk around him. Should we purposely hit someone, no. But we should play hard and beat the crap out of them today, but that should be the teams attitude everyday.
  25. QUOTE (chisox357 @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 08:51 AM) I'm assuming Kuhn will plays SS Escobar plays 2B Gilmore plays 3B and Persichina is a INF bench player. In addition Dubler onlt hit .238 at Bristol last year. Sounds about right, but you gotta swap Kuhn and Escobar. Escobar was supposedly a pretty good defensive SS last year, and from everything I read about Kuhn, he won't be able to cut as a SS. I really like Kuhn, he seems very similar to Chris Getz, IMO.
