  1. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) How would I go about that? google it I suppose. All I know is that it exists.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 04:46 PM) Is Jenks' average fastball 89.8 MPH? Because that's what Duaner is sitting at these days, that's my point. Going from 100 to 97 MPH is one thing. 93.2 to 89.8 is another. I'd offer him an MLC but that's about it. Jenks was at 97 a while ago. He hits it once in a while, but really, he has gone from 100 to 97, from 97 to 95, and now 95 to low 90's. I'd say his average fastball is at 93.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) Yeah, there's no way Owens has the worst arm in baseball. And from a few televised spring innings (maybe 4 to 6 putouts) you've managed to grade Josh Kroeger's reads? You're a savant. Please, I never said I've got a good read on Kroeger as a defender. All I said is that I can tell he would be a better defender then Owens. As for his arm, yeah, it is one of the worst. Maybe not the worst, but honestly, it's on par with the Pierre's and Damon's of the League. He doesn't even have good throwing mechanics. It's like no one ever taught him how to play baseball and one day after his UCLA football playing days were over, he managed to fool some scout into signing him.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 07:53 PM) Second time, same thread... how could you possibly know this? Have you seen Kroeger play CF? Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see him out there for a few games too, and MAYBE he's good out there. Or maybe he's not. Owens is by far one of the worst defensive outfielders I have seen. He's got an arm worse than both Pierre and Dammon, he gets worse reads than both Soriano and Ramirez, he takes TERRIBLE angles, and most importantly, I am pretty sure he doesn't have a clue as to what he is doing out there. You don't need to be good defensively to be better than Owens. And from what I have seen so far, Kroeger has at least some speed and his arm is better, and from watching him the corners, you can tell he gets much better reads. Small sample size, but he'd be a helluva lot better than Owens. That doesn't mean he'd be good though.
  5. Thank goodness, for now at least. I think BA is a lock to make the team because he provides some speed, some pop from the right side, and is our best defensive outfielder. How about we put Kroeger out in CF for a while and see how he does? I guarantee he's better then Owens defensively, and probably Wise as well.
  6. Just one more step in uncovering ManBearPig.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 10, 2009 -> 08:59 AM) Did you just compare being gay to being evil and wanting to kill people? There is a church in Kansas that you would like. Nice twist job there. I said some urges should not be acted upon. And I view homosexuality as one of them. I do not see one way where homosexuality is right. However, this is a discussion for another thread and we should stop it here.
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Maybe it'll help cure the gay. You'd love that. If you're gay, you're gay. However, that doesn't mean you should act on it. Some people claim they were born evil and couldn't help but kill people. Now, because you have the urge to kill people, does that mean you should you do it? Same sex intercourse goes against nature. If man or woman were meant to mate with other of their sex, then they would have been born with matching parts. I believe it's unnatural, and promoting it as a completely okay thing to act on is wrong.
  9. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) No, it's is not a human. Is sperm a human? Does sperm have the potential to grow into a human being on it's own? Explain to me how an embryo is not human. Is an embryo not biologically a human being? When you were an embryo a long time ago, you contained DNA. Odds are that your DNA is the same back then as it is now. Now how does an embryo that is going through a stage of life that contains human DNA, is biologically human, not a human?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) Link, US News how exactly is in vitro ethic? I think it's pretty sick as well. We saw what type of crimes against nature go on with in vitro, key example being that nut case in Cali.
  11. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) Please Kap, they're murdered babies, not embryos. Why should we murder one embryo, I mean, baby to save millions of lives? Gosh that's just so hateful and spits in the face of life. Oh yeah, because the government is now throwing in funds, scientists will NOW solve the mystery of stem cells and come up with all of these cures... Also, answer me this, is an "embryo" a human or not?
  12. I love it. We have a president who's been lying out his ears, and a treasury secretary who doesn't pay his own taxes but wants to go after the rich who don't pay taxes. Well, the later isn't bad except for the fact he's a hypocrite and wants to raise taxes on the rich so they can "spread the wealth." Also, does the later mean he'll go after Rahm Emanuel for all the property taxes he has not paid? Oh wait, his home is the center of his charitable organization where he and his wife donate 25 thousand a year to some school where their children go for free, where ironically the tuition would be 25 thousand anyway. I hate politicians with a passion, all of them are garbage, democrats and republicans alike.
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 9, 2009 -> 09:13 PM) Holy s***, dude. I got news for you. The ONLY thing that changed today was that it went from private money to public money doing this, and there's some pretty conservative groups out there that actually support this. I'm personally against abortion, and while I may not like this (exactly), I can see the reasons why and "pass" on it as something that I can understand why there are now public funds being directed toward it. Question: how many embryos just "die" because of in vitro? I don't know what those numbers are, but as I said, the only change in today's move is changing the funding. So what did it really change? Nothing. If these embryos are going to be destroyed anyway, then I can understand the medical use of doing research. This only promotes it, and it is sickening to think that the government is funding this crap.
  14. This time the Catholic Church in Brazil got it wrong. I'm just guessing here, but likely Religion is a whole lot bigger in Brazil and they are likely a whole lot more old school. I support abortion in only two forms. 1, in rape victims. 2, where the mother's life is in serious danger if she gives birth.
  15. Well, no surprise Obama has little regard for human life. What a load of crock this is. We have some other alternatives for stem cell research, but of course we have to allow these "scientists" who want only the best for man kind to use murdered babies for their research. What a huge load of s***. Anyone who buys this needs to stop drinking the koolaid. This is a disgusting and vile move by Obama, and he using this false hope of saying this will drastically help in the development of making cures for all these diseases more imminent as cover for his sickness. Perhaps one day stem cells will yield results, but you don't have to use dead babies to do so. This is just another way of getting garbage organizations like planned parenthood more money, and making these "good hearted" scientists even richer. How long until Obama allows 3rd term abortions? Probably soon, and he can use the excuse that more developed embryos are better for stem cell research.
  16. What's the velocity on his fastball? He's got really good movement on it, and that slider is really good as well.
  17. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) which one's the vet? yes, that was the wrong word. I should have said more experienced. Personally, I'd rather see Beckham get some more seasoning in the minors. There's still a lot of questions about him and a lot of questions about the guys ahead of him. I say keep Beckham at SS in Birmingham and go from there. For all we know Ramirez will be awfull at SS and needs to be moved to the OF, and Getz and Nix form a great platoon at 2B, making an opening at SS. However, if Beckham continues to show he's the man for the job this spring, go for it. I always believe in putting the best lineup out there everyday, and if it involves Beckham, so be it.
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 8, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) So what have you SEEN out of Gordon Beckham to make you think he won't be able to stick at short? Sure we've all read "reports" but personally I know I'd never base a strong opinion of my own on what someone else has seen. I never said he can't play SS, I'm just saying that I think his future is at 2B. Part of it is from the reports and the little I have seen, and part of it is the defensive potential of Alexei there.
  19. The thing is, Getz has been hitting good as well as Nix. I say unless Beckham clearly shows he's more ready and out preforms them both, you give the spot to the vet and go from there. Unless you wanna go the route of Alexei in CF and Beckham at SS, which might not be that bad of an idea, but I really think Beckham's future is at 2B (or possibly 3B) and I really want to see what Alexei can do at SS as well. Lillibridge is really losing ground fast on the competition. But because he might be the only competent backup SS we will have, we might need to keep him on the roster... We'll see, there still almost 4 weeks left.
  20. I agree with JPN. Miller has the best chance to backup AJ. I thought he was just a body for camp as well, but so far he has shown he's somewhat competent with the bat, and from what I have read, he's suppossed to be really good defensively. But it will likely be one of Stewart and Miller, and the loser gets sent down to Charlotte with Armstrong. And speaking of Armstrong, my oh my does he look lost at bat. I'm not surprised that so far major league pitching (for the most part) has shut him down. I am surprised that he actually hit good at times in the minors and in the AFL however. But he and Stewart/Miller should provide Charlotte with a decent backstop. I agree that Lucy will be sent back down to AA. He's still recovering from that injury (if not physically, mentally), and just like a major leaguer in a similar situation, you start them low to get back to speed and go from there. Also, he should see plenty of time catching due to the fact Flowers doesn't look like much of a catcher anyway. Does Birmingham have the DH? If so, I could see Flowers spending some time there (with Allen at 1B). So far, all four of our affiliates look good. W-S and Kanny should benefit from our strong draft class from last year, and AA and AAA look pretty solid from what I can tell. I wish the White Sox had all their affiliates centered around Illinois and the midwest instead of down primarily in the south east.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 5, 2009 -> 02:52 AM) Damn even in a sports game MacDougal is overrated. He's got great stuff still... just no control over half the time. I think I'm gonna play some MVP 07, which is IMO, the greatest BASEBALL game ever created. Now, MVP 05 is the greatest MLB game ever created, and gets the edge in rankings over MVP 07, but if you switch MVP 07 from the NCAA to MLB, and you're talking about one amazingly awesome game.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Mar 7, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) Ok first off you dont know a thing about DLS or Nunez, so not even going to discuss that. Gio has a better curve thats about it, he got blasted in bigs last season and its mostly thought because of his frame he will end up in the bullpen. And Sweeney, he hit for a decent enough avg and whatnot, but his OPS was in the low 700's. Brian Anderson can match that and give you a ton better defense as well. Betemit has hit double the amount of HR's as Sweeney in half the amount of ab's before. I saw DLS pitch and if Nunez's stuff is even comparable to DLS's, then damn the Yankees are stupid for trading him. And from the little of Nunez I have seen this spring, he doesn't compare to DLS. That isn't to say he might not be a decent reliever, but you get DLS healthy and keep him healthy in a bullpen role, and you're talking about potentially a dominant SU man and potential closer. Now for all we know DLS will never be the same after TJ, but I'd still take his potential over Nunez, any day of the week. Gio got "blasted" but that was in a CUP OF COFFEE in the bigs. Lol, remember when Floyd got blasted with his first stint with the White Sox? Take his stats from last year with a grain of salt. And the concerns about Gio's frame aren't that he'd have to move to the pen, but how long he will last as a starter. Right now the biggest concern with Gio is his control. And Gio has much better stuff. The only pitch Marquez has on Gio is his sinking fastball. And Sweeney, in his rookie season (which was sidetracked w/ injuries) showed he was a competent hitter. Something Anderson still has not been able to show. He had a very solid rookie season and there is no reason to think why he won't improve. Sweeney has a much more refined swing and approach at the plate while Anderson still has plenty of holes in his swing and approach. Anderson's also the better defender in CF, but Sweeney is decent out there as well. Also, a platoon of Sweeney and Anderson in center sounds A TON better then any other option we have right now. However, this does remind me of how much we could have used Cunningham right now. KW really put all his money on Anderson.
  23. I wonder what we're gonna do with Dye after the season. Hell, even if we do go through the whole season with Dye. I think we're gonna be pretty mediocre and try and trade Dye at the deadline but then again, doesn't Dye have some sort of trade clause (limited perhaps?). I'm really excited for the next 1-2 seasons though, with all our young talent coming up and all the contracts we have coming off the books (Contreras, Thome, Dye, Dotel, Konerko and Pierzynski in 2 years, etc.) We are gonna have a ton of money to sign a couple of impact players in the next couple of years.
  24. I wonder where Kroeger places in the competition for CF. From what I have seen, he's only played the Corner OF and 1B, so perhaps we aren't even including him in the mix for CF but rather maybe the 4th or 5th bench role.
