I agree with what you said about Hawk, I feel the same. I love all of us catch phrases, but he is a senile old man now. I loved him and whimpy back in the day.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 08:19 PM) He's got some scary-bad numbers. Lowrie/Kottaras/Hansen, here we come! Well, Hansen has had some pretty awful numbers, but from what I have read, he has a good mid 90's to upper 90's fastball and a hard slider, but with a lack of confidence and control, he has sucked for the previous 2 seasons. Seems like an Aardsma part 2.... Coop can fix him!

I wouldn't be surprised to see Craig Hansen involved in any deal.

If we get a top 5 pick in the 2008 draft.....

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 09:42 AM) pedro, featured in my avatar, is a 3b....i saw him play almost every one of his home games hte past two years and a handful of raod games....heres what i can tell you about him.... his bat is plus plus....truely an ideal type hitter...patient at the plate (57 BBs as fresh, 40 as soph in ~ 260 ABs), power to all fields, (22 and 18 HR)...but he is also a good high average hitter who hits the ball hard all the time....339 and .386 BA....i wouldnt really say he has plus speed, but for a big strong guy he can move and swipe a base, but thats something that probably wont project as much in the majors... defense...pedro has the arm to stay at third, no doubt about that...but id question his hands and range at the next level...i wouldnt at all be suprised if he moved to either 1b or the OF in the majors, but his bat should easily allow him to play either position....i personally feel he will be an alex gordon type prospect right away, because he is so polished and has such great power at the plate Do you think he could play RF, is his arm strong enough? How is his strike out rate? -
First pick here we come! From what I have heard about Pedro Alvarez, I so hope we get the no. 1 pick. I want us to get the worst record.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) That seems awful shady. If Kenny and the org told the Shaffer to take Blanton and he took another guy than I think he'd have been fired on the spot. Yeah, I doubt he did that. He would have been fired on the spot if he did that. Well, at least I would fire him on the spot if he did that.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:12 PM) You can't offer him arbitration therefore you can not receive compensatory picks. Iguchi more than anyone else on this team needs to be dealt before the deadline. that's what I thought. Thanks for confirming it.
-
Doesn't his contract have some sort of clause in it, like Hidiki Matsui had? I forget what it exactly is though, but if we didn't sign him to an extension, we would not be able to get compensation for him?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:36 PM) This year, it is. I already used that sarcastic joke before...

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 05:31 PM) Apparently, when asked earlier today if Buehrle would be moved, KW said "not today." He also said Massett's fastball was a tic below Jenks'...

trade Gooch for a B prospect and call up Richar.

who's playing for the AA affiliate?

I am talking to some red sox fans on a different board, and they crack me up. According to them, Bowden is one of the top 5 pitching prospects in baseball and Ellsbury the best OF prospect in baseball.

per Rotoworld: Andy Gonzalez went 0-for-4 while making a second straight start as the White Sox's right fielder and No. 2 hitter on Sunday. GM Ken Williams was steamed before Sunday's game, promising changes, so we can just imagine how upset he is now that they were shut out by a rookie. Gonzalez, a middle infielder in his minor league career and not a very good one, is a joke as more than an emergency option in a corner outfield spot for a major league team. The White Sox should send him down to call up Ryan Sweeney even if they're not going to put Jermaine Dye on the DL.

It has begun all!

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) If we get a 2nd pick from losing Dye or something like that I could see the target being Danks, but thats the only way possible he lands on the whitesox. I have a feeling that Texas will likly sign Dye, and they will be a top 10 pick so we would only get their 2nd rounder and a sandwich pick... -
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) Nothing happening today LINK Nothing happening with Buehrle, but Jaque Jones, maybe!!!!!!!!!

I don't think in a million years we could get Buchholz. Here is a post I made somewhere else... In 2004, Freddy Garcia along with Ben Davis was traded to the Chicago White Sox for OF Jeremy Reed, INF Michael Morse, and C Miguel Olivo. Now, Garcia was signed to an extension later on in the season by the White Sox, but at first, it was a rent-a-player deal. I for one have to believe that Buehrle is being considered better then Garcia was back then, and in fact probably the best pitcher to hit the trade market since Bartolo Colon. Now, lets compare my red sox trade idea and the Freddy Garcia trade... Mark Buehrle > Freddy Garcia for: Jacoby Ellsbury = Jeremy Reed (Reed could actually be considered better) Lowrie = Morse Bowden And, the Red Sox are said to be interested in signing him to an extension if they trade for him. I think the White Sox could possibly get a little more, to be honest.
-
Talking to some Red Sox fans, they think Bowden and Lowrie would be too much... puh-lease!

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 02:02 PM) What do you suggest? You damn well know Sweeney doesn't belong up here right now. You know it as well as I know it. You advocate it like I advocate it. You damn well the Andy doesn't belong on a major league roster, let alone starting in AAA.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) #1. Why is Andy Gonzalez on our roster? #2. Why is he starting? #3. Why is he hitting 2nd? #1. Cause he's hispanic #2. Cause he's hispanic #3. Cause he's hispanic

Gonzalez still sucks... Are we the only organization in baseball that would have Andy Gonzalez or Gustavo Molina on the 25 man roster during a season?
-
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) Podsednik will be back in 2008. he should really be traded in a couple of weeks if he keeps this up.
-
QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:51 PM) Michael Bowden and Jed Lowrie for MB is what will probably be Boston's best offer! that would be a terrible offer, and there should be no exclamation point after that.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) So would I, but I can't see the Sox trading him. With all the reliever issues we have, they'll be hard pressed to trade their main reliever. so true... but if this team is really going to be going through a rebuilding, we don't need a closer.
