Yeah, Buehrle is going to be traded anyday now most likely, and this is most likely his last season with the White Sox. The writing was on the wall in the offseason when KW traded for Danks and Gio, and now when he drafted Poreda. That is 3 lefties with starting potential, and high upside. And no way we would have 4, let alone 3, lefties in the rotation. It is evident that the White Sox wanted to sign him now, and trade him in the off season for more value, which isn't that bad of an idea, except it didn't work. Oh well, I just want this whole situation over with already.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 12:54 PM) IMO, this is all a massive smokescreen. Given (1) the fact that KW traded for two LHSPs this past winter, and (2) JR's decisions regarding Blackjack, Alvarez, and Fernandez back in the mid-'90s, I don't think that the Sox ever intended to extend Mark. This is a PR circus orchestrated by both sides to make them look like the good guy. yeah, but it has back fired miserably.

Now, I am not the biggest Buehrle fan and I wouldn't be opposed to trading him for a couple A prospects, but at 4 years, 56 million, how the hell do you F that up? Now, I think 14 million is a bit much for any player, but in this market and what he would get in free agency, you get a chance to lock up Buehrle for 4 years at 14 years each, you f***ing do it! It looks clear to me that KW had no intentions on actually trying to resign him, and it was a PR move by him that went terribly wrong. Bravo Mr. Williams. Bravo! QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 02:35 AM) it's pretty clear to me, if this is actually true, why they didn't put a NTC in this contract it's because they wanted to sign him to an easily-dealable contract, so they could pawn him off after a deal is signed, to another team, with a contract that's easy to pickup for the team KW is trying to deal with clearly KW has no intentions of keeping buehrle, if he refuses to include the no-trade clause, the only reason i could see that happening is if the GM intends to trade the player away, i.e the "Sign & Trade" NBA philosophy terrible correct me if I am wrong, but you can't do that in baseball. Oh, and to make all of this better, you can beat your ass Garland has been paying attention to this whole situation, and he knows that this could very well be his last year in Chicago. Hey, you know what, for every Jamie Navaro, there is a Mark Buehrle and/or Jon Garland. F you Reinsdorf.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) He entered the game @ 3-1, a save situation, and since he finished the game, he gets the save I was there...UGH no fire from anyone..whole team looked flat tonight I thought he entered when it was 5-1... my mistake.

QUOTE(VicRattlehead @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 11:31 PM) Just by player raises and such. For instance Uribe for one will make more money if the Sox excersize his option. Well, there are a lot more players leaving who will be replaced with minor league which means a lower payroll. And I hope KW isn't dumb enough to pay someone like Juan 5 million.

QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 11:23 PM) Thornton has been lit up this year. I'd trade him for a CF prospect easy. I like Logan too, but for a position prospect that might be able to actual hit .270 at the big league level I'd be willing to trade him as well. I hate saying this, but Thornton has pitched better this season then his numbers would indicate. And I hope we don't trade a lefty who throws as hard as he does for another questionable OF'er. Gwynn is better then Borchard, but that was a dumb, dumb, DUMB trade by the Mariners.

QUOTE(Beastly @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 11:10 PM) QFT. I agree with everything that you have said right here. I think they are taking a HUGE step backwards if they trade Buehrle. I hope Kenny knows (in his little Stanford head) that trading a liability such as Jose Contreras would help re-tool instead of trading Buehrle. I mean, the fact is that, yes, the payroll is going to rise next year, but it'd be better than sitting here with the crap I see out on that field. I am very happy that Dye will be gone and I hope that he dumps the Count. But trading Buehrle would be a very bad idea. Who knows, I may be wrong? How would the pay roll increase next year?

QUOTE(logic101 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) "I have heard Thornton's name thrown around, but not so much MacDougall. I would think Melvin would be more interested in the lefty, but of course what team isn't interested in a lefty pitcher with a heartbeat..." I think a trade that could work with the Brewers is Boone Logan (or Thornton, but I'd prefer to give up Logan) for Tony Gwynn...I don't see a future for him in Milwaukee but he's a solid defensive centerfielder, an improving leadoff hitter - he was hitting 301 with an OBP of .363 when he was sent down - and a pretty decent base stealer. He has that very nice habit of forcing his way on to a team by actually performing better than expected on the field. If the Sox could plug him to CF and leadoff next year, they could free up assets to try to fix SS or 2B. Now, I like Tony Gwynn Jr. and would be glad to have him and hope he could be our leadoff man, but ain't no way I would give up Logan or Thornton for him, and I would hope KW wouldn't either. But, Aardsma, if the Brewers would want him and maybe another throw in for Gwynn, I'd be all for it. Plus, Gwynn has a very strong arm and would is a good fielder already, with the potential to become much better.

grienke got the save??? How does that work?
-
so I assume no deal? Could someone get me up to speed on the situation?
-
if we lose tonight, we would be tied for 4th, right?
-
AAAArdsma still rocks... could we actually get anything decent for him via trade?
-
they're back!
-
what was all that stuff Pods said about the team having no energy or whatever? He didn't show too much energy trying to run to first base there.

DLS belongs in Birmingham, or at the very least, Winston-Salem.

might as well post this in here... http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...nd-picks-21-30/ It is an article on the draft and the guy feels that Poreda is gonna have some arm issues/lose a lot on his fastball.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) Last I looked...you are not running this site. If you want to whine or tell the world what we can and can't post in here, than go build your own site and tell the people there. That said, this thread can continue on as is. Is it okay if I say that he has just been GAGED!

4 years at 56 mill, where do I sign up? Hell, throw a full no trade clause in there and an option for a 5th year. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) ...maybe you should take the pissing contest elsewhere. Attempting to follow the ebb and flow of the contract negotiation has been nearly impossible with all of these little quibbles. what do you think you're doing right now? Damn, when I think I'm out, they drag me back in it!!!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 07:22 AM) Nice to see the final score. I didn't get to watch the game, but it was nice to see us gets some runs off of Kazmir for the second straight time, and to finish off the sweep. You know what else was nice? To see Konerko get some fat fastballs right down the middle and not pop them up.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) What article are you referring to? I'm interested in reading this. I find it pretty ludicrous anyone can predict a loss of 6 MPH to a guys fastball. I can see someone predicting arm problems from someone but based on what I've seen from Poreda I don't see any major flaw in his deliver that would make him more prone to an arm injury than any other pitcher in baseball. It doesn't matter cause any pitcher with the White Sox usually loses mph on their fastball usually anyway

having some internet issues there? lol.

Charlotte wins 4-3 by pulling out 3 runs in the top of the ninth. Broadway went 7 strong. He gave up 3 runs, but none earned. He struck out 8 which is good to see, but he is still having some command issues, walked 4 batters. Sweeney went 2-4 and scored 2 runs. Anderson went 1-4 but "ripped" a single for the go ahead run. Richar did not play for the second straight game. Any word on an injury? Someone can fill in the rest, btw. I'm a lazy bum.

Contreras and Dye for Kemp and Billingsley... get it done KW Kemp and Razor will be fine once they are on the same thing.
-
I could see teams not being interested in Jose for obvious reason, but not Javy? Now that is complete bull. Javy has been great for the past 2 halves. But you know what, I don't care as I want Javy to stay on this team. And if I was a GM, I wouldn't be interested in Iguchi or Dye either, for obvious reasons once again. These next 2 weeks are gonna be huge for us if we want something good via trade. Lets hope Iguchi starts to rake, and Dye shows signs of being "healthy" and shows good power. Also, it would be nice if Jose has a couple dominant starts. And the White Sox really need to add that 72-hour negotiation window. It clearly seems to me that the White Sox would not be willing to come close to matching any offer Buehrle would get in the open market.

QUOTE(chisox72 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) Jesus Christ, how many times do we have to hear this sentiment? Its NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! KW is not a moron. f***ing drop it already. With that said. Great work this series. They actually played some pretty decent baseball, which makes it bearable to watch. How do you know? KW is known to be type of GM who wouldn't go through a rebuilding. santo, who/what is that in your sig?
