Chris Who? What was Javy's pitch count? I woulda liked to see him go at least 8. We got KC and then Baltimore coming up. There is a good chance now that we get close to .500 and KW gets enough false hope to become a buyer and trade away what young talent we have...

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) They arent really comparable at all either. Garland was a much better prospect and has better stuff too. Stat wise, they are similar. Garland was the better prospect with better stuff, but Broadway was more polished coming out of college.
-
If I compare Jon Garland to anyone in our system, it is Lance Broadway. Their minor league numbers are very similar, IMO.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 01:05 PM) It's simple: Koyie Hill sucks; Toby Hall sucks less. It doesn't matter who sucks more, cause Toby freaking Hall would not be able to bring us Eric Patterson, let alone something of value. The only way we get something out of Hall is if he is traded in a package. Like if we were to try and trade for Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Hall would likely be a part of the package because the Braves would want a backup C out of the deal.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) On the subject of all star games... B-Ham puts 5 on the SL game roster (Getz, Collaro, Lucy, Gonzalez, Egbert). Has Getz even played in the last month or so?
-
no way Hall would bring us Patterson. And in about the same number of AB's, Koyie Hill has outproduced Hall anyway. Plus, Hill is better defensively and actually has an arm. And why would the cubs want to mess with the chemistry of Hill and Zambrano. When Hill has caught Zambrano, Zambrano has been lights out.

Gavin Floyd... bust for them, boom for us.
-
nice... Jonny G!
-
Contreras and Iguchi for Gomez...

Eh, I am starting to warm up to Andy Gonzalez to be honest. Looking at his minor league numbers, with some more development as a hitter, in about 200 or so part time AB's, I could see him posting an average of about .240-.250, a .700 OPS, 20 BB/50 K, 3-4 HR, 25-30 RBI, and 4 or 5 swipes. Plus, he looks as if he can play decent D at all the positions, and he has a strong arm with decent speed. Looks like he could play any 7 of the positions for whenever the moment calls for it. I'd not only have work at 1B in winter ball however, I'd have him catch every once in as well. Could be our emergency catcher as well, probably could throw out more base stealers then AJP after all.

We drafted Andy Gonzalez? I thought one of those "great" scouting finds by the White Sox in the Dominican.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) Because the getting the number 1 pick is not the only way for this team to help them out in the long run, and it shouldn't certainly not be the goal of this team. If this organization wants to turn it around, it's going to take a lot more than a simple pick. If you are rooting for the Sox to lose, you are not a fan of the team. It's as simple as that. Do you think I like the fact that the Sox suck and hate the fact of winning? This team is bad, and I hate it. I still get pissed when sox lose games, just like everyone else. If I could choose between going 60 and 20 or whatever it is for the remander of the season and making the playoffs or between going 20 and 60 for the remander and getting the first pick, of course I would choose the playoffs. But that ain't happening. Now, if I had the choice of going 40 and 40 for the remander of the season and finishing in the middle of the pack or beetween going 20 and 60 for the remander and getting the number 1 pick, you're damn right I would choose going 20 and 60 for the no. 1 pick. Those extra 20 wins do NOTHING for us. Now, lets say this team was like the Marlins or D-Rays. I would choose the have extra 20 wins because the team is already young and filled with talent. No more top talent is really a big need, but seeing improvement and the team winning and getting better would be needed. Those teams would be going forward by winning those 20 extra games. We'd only be going backwards. I hate the fact that this team is sucking, and that is why I want it to do a rebuilding at get the top pick. So this team would be young and talented and be able to compete for several years to come. Call me crazy, but god dammit, I want 15 straight divisional titles like the braves. And with this current team and farm, that aint gonna happen any time soon.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) If that's you're honest thought, you're not a Sox fan. The baseball draft is not like the NFL or NBA draft. Our new scouting director realizes this as well. You busted me.... I'm not a real fan. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:21 PM) If that's you're honest thought, you're not a Sox fan. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) Seriously, relax with all this 1st pick talk already. I can understand wanting to trade for young talent, but you don't pray for a 1st pick like it's the NBA. Just disregard everything I say btw, I haven't slept in 2 days. thats not good. you really should go get some sleep. I am ording you to go to bed right now

We all love Jose and we would love to see him stay, because of what a great guy and class act he is, but this is a business, and keeping 50 year old Contreras along with his 20 million over the next two years is just not possible. Hey, if we could re-work Contreras' contract and stick him in the pen, I'd keep him. But I doubt that would happen.
-
okay, we won 3 in a row and a series... time to go back to sucking and try and get that first pick.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:09 PM) I've thought Seattle could be a place for him. Not sure if they're friends or not, but they have Bettancourt. Just anywhere with a cuban on the team, right?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) Contreras is such a class act. I'm sure KW wouldn't trade him to a place he knows he wouldn't want to go to. Thats why I think New York is the only logical destination. Maybe to Arizona since Livian Hernandez is there.
-
Do you think you could play 3B in the majors, or are you better suited at 1B? What do you think is your best quality as a hitter? Someone correct me if I am wrong on this one: We/I have heard you prefer to be called Vernon rather then Chirs. Why is that? Hey gage, great job with this new interviews.

QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:56 PM) Its possible that Fields could end up either DH'ing or splitting time between 1st and DH with Konerko next season if Joe were to be retained and Thome were traded this summer. Thome aint going no where...
-
Jose says that, but in all honesty, he knows he wants to be on a non-suck team... I love you Jose, but you need to be traded ASAP and Gavin called up. oh great... looks like Gonzalez is gonna stay in the lineup for good now. I predict he finishes the year up at around .195.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:44 PM) pitiful. inexcusable by MacDougal. last thing this team needs is another blown game by the pen. I don't know... a blown game by the pen would remove all false hope KW might have right now. With that being said however, I want someone else to blow the games cause I still like Mac and want him to throw stikes and pitch like he used to.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) I just looked at that. I would doubt it, but who knows. As is, I doubt the Sox get much for Iguchi anyways... On a positive note, Sweeney has homered and walked in three PAs tonight. Make that overall 1 for 2 tonight with 2 BB's....
-
Juan Uribe... your the greatest!
-
Lets just put it this way... G & G (Gio and Galvin... dur) could make a devastating combo some day.
-
QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) He was something like 15-4 with a 1.5 ERA... Would have had more wins if not for an injury that landed him on the 15 day... I curse the day he was trade to the Angels for Schoenweiss.
