  1. I can see both sides of it... to be honest, I don't care.
  2. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) I thought I was the only one who noticed. I saw that, and then I saw it was assault, but then I saw assult on a 93 year old... he did a real good job of titling this thread, didn't he? Everyone is bound to click on it. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 06:02 PM) Granderson should be an all-star, hands down. He's also doing something like only like 5 or 6 players in quite a while have done before the all star break. The "Triple-Double" as they call it, I guess. Double Digit Homers, Doubles, and Triples. He's fast, but not blazing Carl Crawford type fast. Just shows what hustling all the way can do for you. he is like a grinder, but good.
  3. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:57 AM) You're right. Walt Jocketty is... However, SSI was just saying that the Cards wouldn't go after someone if the manager of the team really doesn't like him. I mean, if Ozzie were to say he didn't want a certain player, why would KW acquire him since all it would do is probably cause problems? I know, but I'm just saying. If KW really wanted a player, but Ozzie didn't, do you still think that KW wouldn't go after that player. Afterall, it KW is in charge.
  4. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) I'd rather have Sweeney then Owens. Join the rest of White Sox nation. I am not sure there is a Sox fan out there who would rather have Owens over Sweeney.
  5. I have nothing against Jenks, but that 93 mph straight as an arrow fastball doesn't scare a lot of hitters. Unless he hits his spots perfectly, or close to, what happened tonight will happen a lot more. With that being said, I have been impressed with Jenks command this season and really surprised he has done this well. And if anyone said put Vazquez in as the closer, lmao, that is one of the worst ideas I have heard in a while. No offense, but that is horrible. Oh god, lol, yeah, lets pay a closer, who is a much better starter, 10-something million a year!
  6. Taking out Buehrle was an idiotic, stupid ass move. You don't take the ball out of your pitchers hand in that situation. He went 7.2 strong up till that point, and was getting the righties out more effectively tonight. If I was Buehrle in that situation, I wouldn't have given Ozzie the ball. I would have said get the f*** outta here, this is my ballgame. Who the hell cares if he threw 117 pitches? He isn't getting paid to be babied. I am sure 1 more batter wouldn't have killed him. If he gets the out, great. If he gives up a hit, then take him out. Hey, I am glad to know that if it was Contreras on the mound though, he would have stayed in, even if he was struggling all game...
  7. Is Owens REALLY getting called back up again? Oh god, this is almost laughable.
  8. Who else wasn't a fan of he McCulloch pick last year? I know he has done good recently until tonight, but I absolutely hated that pick last year.
  9. that would be an absolute terrible trade. I like Reyes a lot, but he shouldn't be a key in a trade but rather a throw in. Something like Rasmus, Anderson, and Reyes would be a fairly decent deal... and I am sure Buehlre would give the hometown discount to the Cards as well. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 09:52 PM) Listening to ESPN radio over the weekend I heard that the Cardinals are not intersted in Buehrle at all because Tony LaRussa doesn't think much of him. Supposedly Jockety asked LaRussa if they should go after him and LaRussa said no because he doesn't think much of him. They are not in it to trade for him or sign him during the off season. So I don't care what I keep hearing about the Cardinals and what they are offering for Buehrle, I just don't believe it. I don't think they are after him or are offering anything at all. I think it is just reporters dreaming things up. I don't recall who said this or what show it was on. I believe Carmen DiFalco's show. Maybe Buehrle and his agent know this as well and if the only places Buehrle wants to pitch is here and St. Louis. If St. Louis doesn't want him then his only choice is here. This may be why he is so intent on re-signing here. I bet the Sox get a deal done with him and soon. correct me if I am wrong, but LaRussa isn't the Cards gm.
  10. the MLB had youtube take down the video, lol.... it was a video of someone giving ARam a reach-around after he hit the walk off homerun.
  11. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:20 PM) any chance of a surprise announcement prior to game time...something along the lines of Buehrle signing? highly unlikely.
  12. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) Anyone heard about any roster moves? Dye going on the DL? Sweeney coming up? Anything? nope... Ozzie and KW like having 24 man rosters especially when a lot of players don't even deserve to be on the 25. Dye says he's ready to play, but Ozzie isn't so sure (per rotoworld): Podsednik is day-by-day (per roto): Hey, with Dye and Pods both likely to be out, our roster size will be down to 23! Erstad isn't making much progress either (per roto once again):
  13. Jose Contreras's NTC expired last year actually... Per Roto: The White Sox said Sunday that Jose Contreras' no-trade clause expired last year, meaning they are free to trade him to any team. Contreras said last week that he'd be willing to waive his no-trade clause, but apparently that's not even needed. The Chicago Sun-Times lists the Mets, Braves and Dodgers as interested in Contreras.
  14. if only he didn't strike out a bazillion times a season...
  15. Personally, if we were to trade Buehrle, I'd want to ship him off to the Red Sox for Ellsbury.
  16. With the way this team has been striking out, Bedard is looking at a possible 20 K game.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) Do people just ignore the fact that Pods was at least the only person willing to call out the squad (when he first came back off the DL about 10 days ago). Say what you want about his injuries and the fact that by some he's over-rated (however, by most here, he's vastly under-rated) but at least he provides a positive attitude and plays his ass off everytime he's on the field. Hell, he hasn't shown much, if any, life at all, so he is in no spot to talk.
  18. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) After 10 years of catching, A.J. tries out as a pitcher. I don't think anything will top this one.
  19. What maggs said, plus: Chris Carter to A+ Shnur to AA McCulloch to AA Sweeney to the show.
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) But you could spend another 10 seconds to look up the stats yourself and prevent yourself from making such a silly comment. What do you take me for? Some sort of superman?
  21. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) I don't think you'd have to throw in anybody. I'm on record as being very pessimistic about the trade value of players. Jenks could get Salty and a strong SS prospect (e.g. Lillibridge) or at least equivalent value from another team. As has been pointed out, Jenks is a young all-star closer under control for 3 (4?) more years. He'll get more expensive in arbitration, but he should bring back two A prospects if traded. I'm just saying, if we throw in Contreras, we can get a real pretty package. If the Braves were/are interested, we could probably get Salty, Escobar, plus a B prospect or two.
  22. Buehrle doesn't even have close to Ace stuff, but the results are what that counts. And if you compare his stats to any "ace", they are probably similar. With that being said, I'd likely call Buehrle a no. 2, but ace isn't out of the question.
  23. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) I'm not sure Atlanta's really an option. Soriano has been filthy, Wickman's been as good as he has to be, and then a bunch of arms fill it out. Tyler Yates, Peter Moylan, and Oscar Villarreal have all been solid, and Buddy Carlyle and Chad Paronto are a lefty and an innings eater respectively. And to hit on a topic Cheat has covered before, why do they Sox continue to use high upside arms in long relief roles? Masset has a great arm, but he's a AAA or perhaps even AA pitcher right now rotting away in the bullpen; why not send him to the minors and let him work on a few things down there and call up anyone else? He's being wasted away getting into 3 games every 2 weeks. Well, Wickman has looked very shakey this season, and isn't a long term option at CL. Soriano, maybe, but he (and Ledezma) might be moved to the rotation. Mike Gonzo is the next logical name to be their closer, but correct me if I am wrong, he is getting TJ surgery, and who knows when he will return and how he will do. I think if we threw in Contreras to go along with Jenks, we could get a pretty good package of prospects from the Braves.
  24. Garland or Buehrle should have at least been on the final ballot.
