  1. You know you suck when Ryan Bukvich is better then you.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) I really don't understand why people use height and weight as measures of talent or potential in baseball. I'm 6'3" and 230-ish, but the folks who played for the ST softball team last month will tell you I'm not exactly ready for the big club. well, can you steal 20 bases a year while being that size? It just shows you how big he is and how fast he is.
  3. If Dye keeps this up for the rest of the season, we won't be getting any compensation. If we were to offer him arb. in free agency, I doubt any team would give up the draft pick for him. We really need him to just start raking for about a week or so. Maybe package him with Buehrle down to LA and get Kemp + some.
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 12:03 PM) I dont like the Kemp deal either to tell you the truth. Frankly I like keeping Mark or addressing a serious need like a lead off hitter or middle of the field player. I think our young pitching could use some help but overall im pretty happy with the direction that is going. I really dont see much out there that interests me with Mark. Jose, on the other hand could go for a deal that would adress some power in the OF. How can you not like Kemp, aside from his attitude? The guy is 6'2" and weighs 230, has some serious pop, can hit for average, has a very good arm and can field (needs to get better reads though), and he can run. The guy is something else. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 11:28 AM) Long time no see, you s*** stains (You know who I'm referring to). Mark Buehrle' agent has pinned the White Sox to either give him the full no-trade protection or pawn him off to the highest bidder for fifty cents on the dollar. With that being said, being discussed on other Red Sox boards across the internet is the idea of trading the struggling Wily Mo Pena whose talent is as enormous as his tree trunk legs, but isn't being given the time of day in Boston. Rumors have the White Sox swinging Mark Buehrle out West for Matt Kemp. Wily Mo Pena has had three better seasons in the Majors than Kemp's had in the minors. He's still only 25 years old and everybody who watches him on a daily basis knows that with consistent at-bats, he'll be the Raul Mondesi (.300-30-100) kind of stop gap in some teams outfield. So I ask you. Wily Mo Pena for Mark Buehrle. In my best Howie Mandel impression: Deal... Or No Deal? Let me guess... you like the Red Sox a lot more then you like the White Sox?
  5. Logan Johnson and Po Yu-Lin to Kanny please.
  6. I would like to Nevin Griffith, Kennth Gilbert, and Brian Guinn all signed. I am not to sure about Guinn or Gilbert's situation, but they are out of high school so maybe they are still torn between college or the pro's. But if the org. would pony up some money, they probably would sign. Right now, it seems like Griffith probably wants 1st round money, but the org. is refusing it or something. And I know it ain't happening, but it would be amazing if we could somehow sign Kevin Patterson.
  7. Logan Johnson (going off the top of my head) went, I think, 3 for 4 with ANOTHER 2-bagger. He has 13 hits this season, 5 singles AND 8 doubles. That is more then some players on the ML club already. This guy needs to be in Kanny right now. Him and Miranda have been doing VERY good. Lin, he has pitched very good. At least we might have one good international signing this year.
  8. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 08:22 AM) Don't get me wrong, 78 wins was incredible and accomplishing much more than that team should have, which is why Joe Girardi won Manager of the Year. But look at it this way: the Sox have a .444 winning percentage right now, which amounts to a 71-72 win season -- not far off from the Marlins' 78. Then, like I said before, factor in that the NL Wild Card team had 88 wins (compared to 95 in the AL), just about every NL team was in the mix in the final month... The Marlins' 78 wins was impressive, but I wouldn't want to see it done again, at least not on the South Side. It seems 80 wins would be the best-case scenario with a team like that. rebuildings take time, they just don't happen over night...
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 02:30 AM) Wasserman isn't the answer. I'm curious to see what Carlos Vazquez has though. Wasserman can be a ROOGY though! Is it just me, but does Wasserman have Minnesote Twins written all over him?
  10. Since I am going to be there tonight, I might as well make the gamethread. Hopefully they don't suck today, but I don't think the White Sox offense has ever seen him before, so this has the makings of a long day. Hopefully Danks repeats his last preformance.
  11. QUOTE(russ99 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) Contreras is 40 years old tops. Probably more likely to be 1-2 years over his stated age of 35. It's obvious his mechanics are all messed up due to the back injury. Either it's something (like Crede) that will never go away completely or he's favoring it as to not get injured again. I'd say Contreras is 45 at the youngest.
  12. Charlotte won 7-3. Richar went 1-4 and walked, with a 2 run homer to left. Sweeney went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. Anderson finally back in centerfield and looking healthy as he has now homered in two straight nights. Haeger went 6 strong, with 3 runs (2 earned) with 4 K's and a walk. Please trade Iguchi and call up Richar already. Owens has no reason for being on an major league team and Sweeney should just be given the LF job already. I know Anderson has had his falling out with this team, but it wouldn't hurt to call him up if he continues to hit and see what he's got. I'm no Brian Anderson fan, but the man can play some good D and if he can put up decent numbers and maybe improve close to a non-career year Torii Hunter type of player, we might have something. At the very least, we can increase some of his trade value. someone else can fill in the rest...
  13. With the new CBA for the draft, I believe teams get compensation back if they can't sign their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round picks now. Does this take effect this season, or not until next season? I am pretty sure it will apply to this season, but I want to know for sure. Oh yeah, if Griffith isn't signed, I'll be pissed.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 12:59 AM) Nah, he can be an above average 3b one of these days, but he wont be Joe defensively. oh yeah, I forgot... you know all
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) Maybe, but Jenkins hasn't played rf at all this year. If Sweeney's up to the position (and from the limited amount of time I've seen him, I think he is), you'd prefer to see him there, since he's likely to be around longer than Jenkins would be. I doubt the Sox go after Jenkins, anyway. Jenkins hasn't played there this year, but he has in the past and had done a very good job.
  16. the only way a team would take Contreras in a trade is he was a part of a package and the other team got some cash in return. No team is remotely interested in Contreras and 50 year old dead arm.
  17. Josh Fields will not be moved to the outfield. If the White Sox had any plans of moving Fields to the outfield, don't you think they would have had him this season? Yeah, he made an error tonight, but he is still learning the position. He has good range and a very good arm. He just needs to improve on his glove work. He has potential to be as good as Crede is/was at 3B.
  18. tonights game was god awful... This team needs a total overhaul, IMO.
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 11:43 PM) This tends to happen when pitchers pitch well past their 50s.
  20. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 11:29 PM) Please trade Contreras and bring up Floyd and Wassermann. Yeah... but who in their right minds would want Contreras and that salary? Maybe if we packaged him with another player + cash, we could get something decent.
  21. I cant find it... where would the link to the gameday be? nvm, found it!
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) I'm thinking it will be Masset. He hasn't pitched in like, forever. What is the option status on Floyd? If called up, can he be sent back down if need be. Why all the hating on Masset for starting? If I remember, he did ok last time. He has one more option, so he can be sent down this year. But next year, not so much. And I like Massett as well, I think he is a fine starter... but like rowand said, we are all curious to see the Floydenator.
  23. All I have to say is if Gavin is called up, he better have a perminant spot in the rotation for the rest of the season cause I don't want to see him wasting away in the pen on a non-contender. With that said, if Floyd is called up, who gets sent down? Bukvich?
  24. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) Well they only won 78 games last year. Girardi was manager of the year because the Marlins team payroll was as low as it gets and they were in the mix in the final month. But then you have to remember the NL Wild Card winner had 88 wins. only won 78 games? With the team they had, 78 games was a ton. I don't care if it was the NL, 78 wins for a 15 million practically all rookie team was amazing.
