we can't get draft picks for him because the only way we can keep him is by resigning him. He cannot be offered arbitration. With that being said, I'd probably keep him and really go out and try and sign either Ichiro or Fukodome. Also, I'd have Richar get a lot of playing time at 2B as well.

Sox interested in Orlando Hudson/Elijah Dukes
BearSox replied to coolgreen13's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
hell, is there any chance that the Diamondbacks do a Quentin for Contreras trade straight up? They could use a starter and getting Contreras would prevent the Dodgers from getting him. Plus, they have fellow Cuban and El Duque's brother Livan. I'm sure Jose wouldn't mind playing with him. -
I thought he called a good game, and he wasn't afraid to call the high strike, which I like. Pretty consistent as well. Hopefully your cousin will stay up and continue to be a good ump. Just curious, how much do umpires get paid through the systems? Is it a salary that goes by seniority? I have always thought about ump'ing to be honest

Can trades be made during all star break
BearSox replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
yes, but they can't be announced... that is my understanding of it anyway. -
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 06:36 AM) When is the PS3 price drop supposed to occur? On the ps3fanboy website it says effective immediately. However, sites like bestbuy.com still say $599. Anyone have any idea? I posted a link ealier. It's probably in page 8. According to that link, it is suppossed to occur on July 17, same day when NCAA 08 comes out.

Javy Vazquez.....now what do we do??
BearSox replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
keep him (and Garland) unless a great package comes along. -
lol, that was hilarious...

Ellsbury could be available via trade if the Red Sox sign Ichiro, which seems like a stron possibility.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:13 PM) Holy s***...Bucholtz looks good (or his highlights do). That is a nasty nasty breaking ball he has (based on those highlights). I wasn't to impressed with either him or Kershaw. Very disappointed. They showed good velocity but little movement and their curves were non-exsistent. But more then likely from all I have heard about them and their numbers, they likely just didn't have it today. Pitching 1 innings out of the bullpen isn't really something they're accustomed to. And as far as DLS goes, I'd like to see him up to W-S ASAP, and if he dominates for the first couple of weeks or so, promote him to AA.

If we could get a ML ready catching prospect, like Salty (somehow), I'd think AJP to the Cubs would be a pretty good deal. We could probably get a pretty good return as the Cubs are in need of a Catcher who can hit his weight.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) Was just answered for you... I'm not going to put too much tock into that as Anderson has been injured for the majority of the time he has been down there.

Mark Buehrle Agrees to 4-yr, 56 mil with escalator clause

Imagine this teams future if we actually had a good farm like the Braves or Dodgers... oh my -
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) Why is it sad? It's called "hedging your bets". Actually, it isn't. It's called "filling a position of need with a star-level veteran." Why not give Anderson another shot for the rest of this season and maybe he could turn into Torrie Hunter Lite & White? If blows again, then go after someone like Hunter in free agency.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) Kemp is a stud in the making. He would be a coup to acquire, but I just don't see the Sox able to get him unless Dye and Contreras would do it for the Dodgers (and for that to happen both would have to heat up). That would be the best thing ever if Dye gets healthy and goes on a tear and Count throws a couple of Gems, and then the Dodgers trade Kemp (if healthy) for them (plus cash). QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) I still say the Sox buy and move guys like McCulloch/Anderson/Broadway for guys that they think will help them next year and in the future. And than they sell other guys. As long as the players aren't 1,000 years old, I'd have no problem with it. But Broadway got rocked today again. -

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) As for more trade speculation, McCullouch only went 1 IP for WS today (0 H 0 R 0 BB 2 SO). Just sayin'. I'd have no problem with him getting traded. But he probably will just have a mysterious disappearance like Poreda. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) What I'd give for either Kemp or Ethier. I personally would love to get Loney, but Kemp or Ethier would be awesome as well . But with Buehrle off the table that only leaves Javy and Garland I love Javy and I doubt he will get traded as Kenny Williams loves Javy as well. But that leaves Garland and I don't want Garland gone either. With that being said, if we could get Kemp and some other good stuff (probably better then what we could get for Buehrle), I'd do the deal. Plus, Garland being from LA and making his residence there (I think), the Dodgers could probably sign him to an extension. Plus, I can still root for him if he is on a team like the Dodgers. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) The Sox will sign a CF this offseason before giving Anderson a chance. that's a sad, but probably true statement.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) Keep an eye on Hu's cap. I hope it will be changing to a White Sox hat... -
I'd gladly have Hunter on this team, but not for the insane amount of money he is going to get because of this great contract year he is having. Plus, he is slowing down and is what? 31, 32? I'd give Brian Anderson, whenever he gets over his mysterious injures, the first shot in Center this season and see if he can finally put up decent numbers. If he doesn't show much progress then Ichiro should be the main offseason target. Hell, Ichiro should be a target ethier way. Then Hunter, and then Rowand.
