  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 10, 2007 -> 04:08 AM) I really think the Braves already have their future closer in Rafael Soriano and that they have absolutely no interest at all in Bobby Jenks. I think it is stupid that teams haven't tried Soriano as a starter yet. Mariners did, but after his first season he moved to the pen. I think if the Braves were smart, they'd move Soriano to the rotation next season and go from there. Mikey Gonzalez would be an option for their future closer, but he will be coming off of TJ surgery.
  2. would something like 3 years, 17 million plus an option work? then sign Ichiro to something like 4 years, 60+ million plus an option, and then we would have an OF of Sweeney, Rowand, and Ichiro. That would look pretty damn good to me, and would probably be arguably the best defensive OF in baseball.
  3. odds on Sisco getting called back up? either him or Vazquez.
  4. hopefully a promotion. I'd also like to see Eggy promoted even though it seems like he got knocked around a bit today. Same goes with Collaro if we finally call up Sweeney.
  5. well, I don't know how much interest the Astros would have in Dye (as Luke Scott is better then him in all aspects right now, and is a lefty), but I'd gladly take Lidge on this team. Now, I know the Astros could use a catcher, and Wickman has been really inconsistant. The Braves could use their future closer... How about a three way trade of: Jenks to Atlanta Salty, Escobar, Lidge to Chicago Pierzynski to Houston and some exchanging of prospects as well, most likely. Greene plays half of his games in a very pitcher friendly park while Uribe plays half of his games in a launching pad...
  6. hopefully he can return at the end of the season, and shows he is healthy and ready to play and maybe rake for a while. If so, we could trade him and get a nice little package in return in the offseason.
  7. not to hijack, but frontpages for talkbears & talkbulls as well? sorry for all these questions, I just want to know everything
  8. so, besides the starting over, will everything else on the board be pretty much the same except faster and better? Any new features?
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) Khalil Greene and Juan Uribe are reverse carbon copies of each other. If you dislike Uribe, you'll dislike Greene. not really. Greene at least puts up good numbers away. Uribe just puts up bas numbers everywhere.
  10. any chance he will give us a "home town" discount?
  11. Soxtalk is awesome... not only is it awesome, but it is free. I love everyone who makes this possible
  12. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) I think you're a sharp poster, BS; so, I hope you know I'm yanking your chain. Seriously, if you have any questions, shoot me a PM and I'd be happy to help you out as best I can. I knew something was fishy about that. I know in little league umps would only get 50-60. But not sure about the umps in high school.
  13. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) Shoot, I don't know. What would you say, Russ? Anywhere between $500-$1000 per game. It varies...you know, little-league by little-league. damn, that much? What would be the qualification to become one? I assume you don't have to go to umpire school like for college and professional ball.
  14. will Futurama still contain the old voices and such? Also, what channel is it returning to?
  15. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) I, too am an IHSA umpire for two years as well. I know how hard it can be and I know that it takes a lot to get anywhere, especially to the major leagues. Umpiring is just something I did because I quit baseball when I was a young kid. I knew the rules better than my playing ability so that is why I chose to be an umpire. It is a great game and great to be apart of something in the outdoors while still getting paid and not being taxed on income. It is an honor for anyone to get anywhere such as college, minor leagues and the major leagues. Ditto, give him a pat on the back from a comrade in the trenches. Not to be disrespectful, but how much would usually make for each game?
  16. question: how long would the board be down? If only a couple of days, I say do it now. If not, wait until after the baseball season. Also, TalkBears, TalkBulls, etc. would all remain the same, right?
  17. I sell my old games at gamecrazy. They give you much better deals and if you are an "MVP" member, you get an extra 10%... For kicks, after I got Call of Duty 3 for the ps3, the next day I went to get Resistance and I wanted to see how much I could get for Call of Duty. Well, a 60 dollar + tax game that was used ONCE and was a day old could only get me 30 bucks. I walked out laughing. I am thinking about selling my old xbox, ps2 and some really old games with accessories on ebay... I wonder how much that would fetch.
  18. Not to hijack this thread, but on Wednesday (7-11-07) will Slurpees really be free at 7-11?
  19. Dane Cook isn't funny at all and acts like an ass... I agree with Sonik22's statement.
  20. Morneau. I don't see Howard repeating and I don't see Prince being able to last as he is pretty much fat...
  21. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) You seem to be implying that Iguchi should be signed so Fukodome or Ichiro will have friends, and the Japanese need their fellow countrymen for friends. Hmmm ... by this logic maybe Dye sucks this year because there are no other blacks on the team to be his friend. Well, IIRC, Shingo being on the team helped get Iguchi to sign with us in the first place. Also, IIRC, Ichiro being on Seattle helped them land Johjima.
  22. I like Bourn, but I'm not sold on him. I agree with Gage on this one. I'd bat him "second leadoff" and see how it goes from there. To be honest, I don't know much about Bourn. I know he can fly and doesn't have much power, if any. He also walks a fair amount of times, but I'd like to see less K's. Can someone tell me how his arm/defense is? also, I'd like to get Greg Golson in a deal with the Phils, if that is possible.
  23. Replace Linebrink with Antonelli, and that would be a terrific trade.
  24. the curse of the wallpaper strikes again...
  25. faster and more efficient board > post counts... also, I was over at a vbulletin board and they have this awesome thing called a rep system. I think that is a much better way to determine the good poster from the not so good poster ... but I am not sure if invision boards have that.
