  1. if they bring up Floyd, hopefully he will be there to stay and Contreras will be traded.
  2. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) Why does it matter anyways, rather use a spect than have useless players like Erstad or Pods play..i mean hello were in last place. agreed on that part completely. hopefully after Pods and Erstad re-injury themselves once again, we can finally DFA/release them.
  3. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) no he said he is hitting well for july, that is a whole month, keep the kid up. big whoop... let me know when he hits for a full two months. maybe then I would considered jumping on the bandwagon.
  4. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) I don't give a f*** if he bunts everytime he gets up.. hes hitting like .299 with a .356 OBP in July Hes getting on base, and is our only speed we have.. open your eyes sorry, but I am not going to jump on the bandwagon of a guy who has only hit for a week... IIRC, mostly everybody wanted to see Owens gone last month, and now since had a good week he is the best thing since Lance Johnson. Same thing goes for Andy Gonzalez. One good week and everyone was saying how good this guy was. That didn't last now did it?
  5. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) Owens has been really good since coming back up.. I hope that he isn't sent down if good means barely hitting the ball out of the infield, then yes, Jerry Owens is awesome.
  6. it depends. AA usually has more talent in it, but it is raw talent. A lot of the players are young but their baseball IQ's, I guess I can say, isn't that high (for most players). However, in AAA there is usually less talent, but there are AAAA players and a lot of majors/minor league vets who know more about the game.
  7. owens would most likely be sent down. I highly doubt we carry 3 no-power lefthanded hitters. Gonzalez will likely be sent down as well. Terrero, while he may not be good, he is certainly better then Gonzalez and Owens, plus he does have talent/potential.
  8. wow, very said. RIP and the best to his friends and family.
  9. we should send Owens to ATL so we can watch him go 10-10 with 10 rbi and bat something like 350 for a whole season.
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 08:13 AM) Kalapse you are the stat man.. I think he just uses baseball-reference, but yes, he is the stat man.
  11. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 01:48 AM) QUOTE(Jeremy @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 01:13 AM) He's never hit for much power or drawn many walks in the minors so his average might continue to come up but otherwise, what you see is what you get. There is no sane reason why Gonzalez, Terrero, or Owens is a major league ball player. This shows you how pathetic our farm system is. I don't think any of them have a job on virtually ANY other team in baseball. I think Terrero is a good 4th OF and bench player. He can be a defensive replacement late in games, pinch run, and provide a little pop from the rightside.
  12. Owens, and Andy Gonzalez for the matter, do stink... just my prerogative.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 05:52 PM) I just have to add this. What the hell has Owens done to "earn a spot"? Have I not been watching? Has the talent level sunk that low? one week of infield singles and a couple grounders up the middle, and all of a sudden Owens is Lance Johnson 2.0
  14. well, no doubt if we trade him to cleveland, a top prospect would be needed in return.
  15. When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be a joke thread. Like the next statue at the cell will be of the 07 suck sox.
  16. side note: both are only signed through 08 as of now... change rent to salty and escobar, and they have themselves a deal. but their willingness to trade renteria, a great player so far this season for them, tells me they envision great things with escobar at SS, and salty is already almost impossible to get anyway. So my trade idea is just a pipe-dream.
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) And our draft slot keeps improving. Pedro Alveras... here we come! check that... cheapest possible player we can draft, here we come!
  18. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 11:49 AM) I don't know an exact date but it should be this fall. Oh and MGS is most likely coming out for the 360. highly doubt it.
  19. is the ea servers for ncaa 08 down for anyone else?
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 10:25 AM) Pretty much 99% of this board HATED Willie Harris while he was here, and wanted him gone. Maybe this is a case of a guy figuring it out later in his career, but pining for him after hating him so much is just funny. If I was on this board, I would have been part of the 99%...
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 09:31 AM) I've been on the Harris for 2008 starting 2b on the Sox bandwagon for a while now. if Willie keeps this up, the Braves would have no reason to move him, and Willie is playing for his hometown Braves... Also, one small change to Willie's stance by their hitting coach, and now Willie is unbelievable... makes you think, what the f*** has Greg Walker been doing?
  22. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 12:55 AM) So you'd trade Lance Broadway for Alan Embree? even in his prime? Thornton's had one good year, and even that wasn't a dominant year out of the pen; aside from those 54 innings, he's done nothing to be considered one of the better lefties in the game. He's merely a good, but not great, bullpen arm. So, yeah, you trade a lefty pitcher that throws 95-98 for a lower level prospect with a high ceiling. Unless of course you want someone like Andy Gonzalez or Aaron Miles coming to the Sox. I fail to see your logic, cause last time I checked Lefties like Thornton don't grow on trees. The M's were idiots for trading him for only Joe Borchard. Unless we get one of the top "lower level" prospects, I'd rather see the team take their chances with Thornton. But then again I forgot, we got our future lefty "fireballer" (if his arm doesn't fall off before then) out of the pen with Poreda.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 10:34 AM) Planning to go pick up a 360 today. Any suggestions what to get besides the system as far as accessories, games, etc? a ps3...
  24. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) I would be looking to trade Thornton, and I am not sure how the Sox can justify keeping him long term. He's having a bit of a rough year ERA and WHIP wise, but he's got pretty solid peripherals; the H/9 will go down with a good defense behind him instead of the mediocre defense the Sox put out there, his K and HR rates are there, and he really hasn't been terribly erratic with his control. I doubt you get an outstanding piece, but I'd target someone in the lower minors to get him anyways; you can't build an organization by trading away players and then getting mediocre players back in return, which is what you'd get for Thornton if you traded him for a guy in AA or above. I also look to move MacDougal too, but I'd hold off on trading him simply because of how terrible he has been this year. I doubt there's any way he can be this bad next year, and if he bounces back, you'll not only have an arm in the pen but also a nice piece to trade with an affordable contract. You don't trade lefty pitchers who can hit 95-98 on their fastball for "lower level prospects" unless it is for a great talent.
