Iguchi Traded to Phillies for RP/SP Michael Dubee
BearSox replied to IlliniKrush's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 11:58 PM) Richar has nothing to do with this. This is about the Iguchi trade. It was a horrible trade and KW should be ashamed. What is so wrong about asking for a player who is at least a big leaguer for Iguchi?? If the Mets wanted him as well, it's really really a shame KW gave him away. Disgraceful. omg, how many times do we have to try and get this through your thick skull? 1. Iguchi was a free agent after the year and would be a 2-3 month rental. 2. Iguchi has a clause in his contract where he can't be offered arbitration and because of that he wouldn't bring back any compensation if he signed somewhere else. 3. Iguchi had been batting .250 this season with 6 homers and only 31 runs driven and had played poor defense. 4. There where probably 5-6 different options in the trade market that were better then him. This isn't xbox where you can trade Iguchi for someone like Clay Buchholz. This is real life buddy, and if your expectations were so high on the value we'd receive for Iguchi, I'd hate to see your reaction for something we would get for Garland. Would you expect 3 A prospects and a MLB level player in return for Garland? -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) If Dye was having a season like last year, you would be 100% correct. But a GM would be crazy if he gives a top prospect for 2 months of a guy who has hit .230 for 4 months. Dye's OPS is .754 this season. Lofton's is .818. GM's will also take into consideration that Dye was injured for the majority of the first half of the season and look at his recent resurgence over the past month to make a more accurate read on him.

Iguchi with an rbi single in his first game as a phillie. -
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) Dubee k'd the side 1-2-3 in his Kanny debut, heh. I thought he was entering the rotation...

I found this on rotoworld: He could very well be part of any trade.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) what did we trade for him? the whole board is excited over a guy we got for crap... there has to be a reason arizona basically gave him away. What in god's name are you talking about? The Diamondbacks already have Hudson and Collaspo at 2B. There was no for Richar. Second off, Aaron Cunningham is considered a good prospect by a lot of the experts, like Baseball America.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 02:39 PM) Kenny Lofton is hitting .303 this year with over 20 steals. He netted Texas a A ball catcher originally signed in 2002, now with his 3rd organization. This dissappointment on this board is going to be immense if you really think Dye is going to net a top prospect for 2 months of his services, $7million or $8 million contract and .230 batting average. Kenny Lofton is also in his 40's and that catching prospect the Rangers got back is a pretty good one... I see you forgot to mention that.

lolz: (per rotoworld ^)

I had no idea his name was pronouned "ri-shar"... I thought it was like how it was spelt, "rich-ar"

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 05:57 AM) Thomas hit that ball a mile straight up, and the wind swirls a lot in US Cellular. Pods looked like a complete doofus jumping for a ball that landed underneath him, but it wasnt really an error. That seems to happen a lot to Pods (the walk off hit by Ellis in Oakland)

QUOTE(phillychuck @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 08:54 AM) From a phlllies fan: I'm surprised Iguchi didn't bring a bit better return since the Mets were eager to obtain him as well, reportedly anyway. If the Mets have something in place for Loretta then it's a different story--not many other teams are interested in a 2B at this point. Dubee has been somewhat underutilized at Lakewood this year, and with the Sox moving him into their rotation at Kannapolis you might see him develop a bit. He is what he is, though--a C-level prospect who some people like as a sleeper whose K/IP ratio promises some future. I think the Phils would have been willing to trade the Lakewood CF, Quentin Berry, whom I would have rather obtained if I were the Sox. Phils are hip-deep in CFs at almost every level because they like to draft speed and defense, not power. We're actually speculating that Williams felt guilty about pawning off an injured Freddy Garcia on the Phils and made this trade out of some feelings of guilt... that is very possible and someone mentioned it before. -
I think last time we saw this matchup it was an hour & 50 minute game with Buehrle throwing a 2 hitter via the longball and the White Sox getting completely owned. I think it was also the day Erstad's body shattered in half on one swing.

I think we could rule out the Padres as a possible suitor for Dye with how they got Scott Hairston today. While not much, it seems like they hope he will provide some pop.

I know we all love Gooch, but with the way some are acting, you'd think he would be in the running for the triple crown award and saving babies from burning buildings during his off time. -
It's kinda ironic. A pitcher who couldn't stop walking batters can't talk a walk. Imagine if he never had that mental break down...

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) Sweeney is 2 for his last 28, down to .277, but I'm sure we'll hear about him 'quietly' going on a hot streak a week from now and people will forget that he hasn't even mastered AAA yet. how dare you...

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) Exactly. If you are happy with getting nobody for Iguchi, fine. I don't understand why people are OK with getting nothing for him. It's not like he is Erstad-bad. KW gave him away. That is disgraceful. how so... if anything KW did him a favor of sending him somewhere to compete and get playing time. It is quite obvious KW was going to ger Richar up here one way or another. And who knows, we might sign him in the offseason depending on how Richar does, so we would actually be gaining in all of this. -
Right now, I just really want to know who the 3rd team is. My guess would be the Mariners.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) Just home now, saw it live. It was an unusual play, meaning it's not like he dropped a routine fly ball. I marked it as a hit before it came up on scoreboard, there was really no question. well, to me at least, it looked like a ball that should have been easily caught. Maybe the wind was swirling... I don't know.

this is what a phillie fan on another board said about Dubee... -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) He's simply not ready for the majors. But his first name is Amos, so that's automatically two strikes against him. At least he was smart enough to go by Dewon...

how come Pods didn't get an error on that one play?

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) Bristol is actually a lower level than Great Falls. why'd you make up that quote?
