Per rotoworld: very interesting to say the least... I would like to hear more details about this.

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) take him over aardsma, sisco, Day, Masset and the other Eckersley Wannabes we've watched soil this season. I don't think we should be so quick to write off Day. He has an above average fastball with some life to go along with a good slider.

Logan is to LOOGY as Wasserman is to ROOGY...

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) I believe they said Cintron's at 2nd and Mack is at 1st. Let the Konerko trade speculation begin

so, if I were Wedge, I'd probably have the lineup look something like... Lofton, LF Blake, 3B Sizemore, CF Martinez, C Hafner, DH Peralta, SS Nixon/Gutierrez/Michaels, RF Garko, 1B Barfield, 2B Pretty dangerous lineup.

Iguchi Traded to Phillies for RP/SP Michael Dubee

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:57 PM) yeah thats what balta said too, in which case the way i view this trade becomes completely different, and this is about what i would have expected to get in return...basically look at it this way....we traded ryan meaux, who was like 3 years older and had similar numbers for blum, so this is a comparable deal that is a very good comparison... -

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) im not disagreeing or doubting you, im just wondering why he couldnt have been offered arb....i quite frankly am far from an expert on the entire matter and have always been cloudy on offering arbitration to upcoming FA and how that all works I'm not sure, but i am pretty sure it is a clause in his contract and that Hideki Matsui had the same clause in his contract. -

QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:47 PM) We don't have to pay nothing in the minors.. for doing nothing.. We do have to pay Dubee I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you're trying to say here. -

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) i expected a little more....we would have gotten draft picks for iguchi...assuming we offered arbitration...here are the new rules Draft Choice Compensation 1. Type C free agents eliminated in 2006 2. Also in 2006, compensation for type B players becomes indirect (sandwich pick) as opposed to direct compensation from signing Club. 3. Effective 2007, Type A players limited to top 20 percent of each position (down from 30 percent) and Type B players become 21 percent - 40 percent at each position (rather than 31 percent - 50 percent). 4. Salary arbitration offer and acceptance dates move to December 1 and December 7. here is a list of the free agents from last year and who was type A and type B http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?p=1343042 im fairly confident in saying that iguchi would have fallen into either type A or type B so at very least we would have gotten a sandwich pick....so had we kept iguchi, offered him arb. and he left to become a FA, we would have gotten a pick in the 50 range (last years type B compensation were overall 48-64).... bear in mind we would have to pay to sign that pick, but considering we got gio as a sandwich pick the first time around, yeah i expected KW to do a little better than a guy who was drafted in the 18th round I am 99.9% sure Iguchi could not have been offered arbitration and the only way a team could retain him is by signing him to an extension, and if not he would become a free agent. So, Dubee > nothing. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) Understood, but like I said, the down side of this deal, unless Tad could somehow have brought A level draft compensation, is minimal. If nothing else, the Sox save a $ million or so and open up a slot for Richar. So even if it was a bad trade and is stupid, it doesn't hurt us that much. Just would have been nice to get someone with a little bit better prospects to make it to MLB eventuall. well, Dubee is better then the nothing we would get in return for him in the offseason, so I can live with this trade. -

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) What kind of deal is this? This is not a good trade IMO and I am not sure just how this is supposed to be helping us unless we sign Dye and Crede. We trade a pretty good 2Bman and keep an overweight underperforming SS? I wonder if there was ever any thought or effort to keep Tad? who said we are planning on keeping Uribe? It seems like from what I have read/heard is that Kenny really wants to find a replacement SS. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) The price is higher than a reliever with unimpressive numbers in low-A ball. how do you know? Been talking with some GM's lately or something? I know we all like to pretend to be GM's, but odds are we weren't getting offered a whole lot for Iguchi. If we did get offered something good, shame on KW for passing it up. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) Depending on how the draft pick issue works out, this is a hard trade to "Hate". Hating a deal is what you do when you give up Liriano, Bonser, and Nathan for Pierzynski, or Kazmir for V. Zambrano. It's not like we're giving up a ton here, we're just not getting a ton back. well, hate is the wrong word. I should say he things it is very stupid and a bad trade. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:29 PM) I know, and I expect Ozuna to platoon with him next year. I'd be fine with that platoon. However, you and I both know that the expectations people have for our return package in trades is insane. In all honesty, the only two players we could trade that would really piss me off if we don't get good value for are Garland and Vazquez (or if we trade Dye to the Cubs). I've been thinking the same thing about a platoon with Ozuna and Richar. If we don't acquire anyone, I could see them being our leadoff duo. -

while I am not too thrilled with the trade, or mainly what we got in return, but what did you expect us to get for a 33 year old 2B who was hitting .250, with 6 HR, 31 RBI, .722 OPS, and with poor defense, who was gonna be a free agent/rent-a-player. We needed to make space for Richar, and Iguchi just had to go. With the way the market is for decent 2B, we couldn't have really expected anything great in return. We'll miss you Gooch, and the best of luck to ya. 私たちはあなた井口と、運の中であなたに最も有益な人がいなくて残念に思います。 (Japanese translation ) -
I had no idea Lofton was having such a good season this year. He has put up great numbers... I like this move, but the Indians need pitching badly, if you ask me.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
BearSox replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
more injury woes for the Dodgers as Penny hurt himself last night and right now is questionable. Add that to the fact their rotation is already hurting to injuries and what not, they could make a serious pitch for Garland. Now, I would like to keep Garland, but if we could get a package of something like Kemp, Hu, and Meloan for him... -
Could this be Big Jon's last start in a White Sox uniform?

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 09:58 AM) Injured and Tommy John Surgery are two separate entities. I wouldn't care, as long as it didn't mean we would be giving up anything significant... plus, I thought the TJ was just a rumor. -
Congrats to DJ! Stoney should be good in the booth to listen to as well. Hawk can rave to him about how Stone was the best true "pitcher"... you know, the grinder version of pitchers.
-
All this Pods is the key to winning is a bunch of garbage... And no to Dye. He would be overpaid and there is that huge injury factor. Hopefully we can trade at the deadline for a couple of good pieces, and then in the offseason he will run along and sign w/ Texas.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) If Kenny deals for Otsuka, he should be canned. Just my humble opinion. why? Have you seen his stats? If we can get him on the cheap, even if he is injured.... why the hell not? -
