  1. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:26 PM) Like I've said, knucklers will be up or down. I'm going to take hits on that because it's an easy thing to criticize me for saying -- Floyd was so good down there and Haeger had a rough year! Well, there are all sorts of things that come into play with that, and dumb luck has a big part of it. Hell, I think Egbert could come up and do a better job than Floyd right now. what's the harm in trying? What, will those extra losses that might happen be crucial to our postseason run? Give him a couple starts, who gives a damn. If he sucks, he sucks. So be it, we cut ties with him and move on, and try someone else. Some of you guys are acting ridiculous. I just can't understand why some people are making such a big f***ing deal out of this.
  2. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) yes, am I in trouble? Yeah... I heard the IRS is looking for you.
  3. so, is Sweeney injured, or is Ricks an awesome prospect that KW and the scouts must get in there to play?
  4. oh yeah, what is with all this Haeger love? He sucked in AAA for most of the season, and has looked just as bad out of the pen.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) The team that made the mistake of taking him that high was more than happy to unload him. In 2002, Gavin Floyd was ranked the 56th overall prospect in baseball by baseball america. In 2003, Gavin Floyd was ranked the 8th overall prospect in baseball by baseball america. In 2004, Gavin Floyd was ranked the 23rd overall prospect in baseball by baseball america. In 2005, Gavin Floyd was ranked the 35th overall prospect in baseball by baseball america. Now, why would such a bad pitcher get such high rankings by such a respected and all around well-known baseball site known for its ability to scout prospects? It's not a question of talent, it is a question of utilizing that talent. I see no harm in this move. I highly doubt he can do any worse then Contreras, and with the season already over, there is no harm if he goes out there for 4-5 starts and s***s his pants. After those 4-5 starts, if shows he has no balls and is afraid to attack the hitters and gets shelled, then give someone else a chance. For right now, we basically have nothing to lose, but something to gain.
  6. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) Long time ago. If he were a second round pick, nobody would hold up this hope that he is better than his numbers have suggested for so long. He just isn't a good pitcher and his stuff is overrated as well. well, he wasn't a second round pick. He was the 4th overall pick and was considered pretty much a top talent. If he didn't have top of the rotation upside, he likely wouldn't have been drafted 4th overall.
  7. Wait a minute, wtf... how did Adam Ricks play both for W-S and Charlotte today?
  8. I would say Sweeney got called up, but with the fact he didn't play yesterday, he is likely injured.
  9. I think they just promoted him to be the backup and have Wiki do most of the starting, while keeping Lucy in AA to start... I can kinda understand that except for the fact that Wiki and Ricks both suck.
  10. I think it is for when the September call ups begin and the team wanting to see Gio, Egbert, Russell, or some other player(s) in the majors.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) No, Floyd doesn't have that potential. I just wonder how many quality starts Floyd will be able to put up. My guess is none. So that explains why he was taken 4th overall...
  12. well, hopefully some team picking between 16 and 20 will sign Dye so we can get a mid first round pick plus a sandwich pick.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) No way. I know its about draft position, but until the White Sox hire someone from the outside to handle it, not someone from the White Sox "family", I truely believe anyone they draft real early will either get injured, be a pretty mediocre player, be a total bust or not sign. yeah... I'm prepared to see Jordan Danks be our draft pick next season.
  14. is anyone else really hoping we lose every game and get the worst record in baseball? You know, I can understand wanting to see the team win if we got quite a few prospects and were going to play them on the ML roster, cause you'd like to see the prospects develop and win at an ML level, but we only really have 2 position prospects worth a damn up right now, so it doesn't matter. As it stands right now, we really need the no. 1 pick and pray to god that the top player in the draft, probably Pedro Alveras, does not have Boras as their agent. But it looks like those bastard Devil Rays are gonna get the 1st pick again, and if not them it would be San Francisco. Well, here is to hoping we lose most of our games for the rest of the season.
  15. how could we not get anything better then this 23 year old who will be lucky to see the majors in even 4-5 years? Mack is a MLB player who can play any position you want him and is an average-above average hitter. He had been batting .270 or something with 6 homers and 30 some rbis in only 230 some AB's, which is pretty good production from a bench player if you ask me.
  16. hey, at least we the missing "link" to our farm system today.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) TRANSACTIONS: The Chicago White Sox today announced that IF Kenny Perez has been promoted to Class-AAACharlotte. In 25 games withBirmingham Perez batted .265 with seven extra-base hits and 17 RBI. In addition, IF Chris Getz has been activated from the Disabled List. Getz was placed on the DLon May 27th with a leg injury. omg, I was wondering when our top prospect Kenny Perez was gonna get promoted to AAA. He will probably dominate Charlotte like he did in Birmingham, don't you think?
  18. randy johnson. He is 16 away and has 2 more years left on his contract. If he can return some what healthy from back surgery, and average 8 wins a year for the next two years, he will get it. I remember after Maddox got his 300th win, there was talk about perhaps no other pitcher ever reaching 300.
  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) Owens CF, Fields 3B, Thome DH, Konerko 1B, AJ C, Dye RF, Pods LF, Uribe SS, Richar 2B Gonzalez and Erstad not being in the lineup are the first surprises of the day for me.
  20. I don't see one reason why it would be good if we won anymore games this season. 1.) We have 3 young players on the whole team right now worth a damn, so it's not like winning will show that much progress with those players like it would in Colorado or Florida. 2.) Our farm system is just plain out pitiful. We need the no. 1 pick to hopefully get a stud prospect. Actually, the org. would likely f*** up the draft so it kinda doesn't matter, I guess.
  21. I expect to see Pods and Erstad leadoff and go 0-8, with Gonzalez playing 2B and having an 0'fer, with Contreras getting absolutely shelled.
  22. what's the purpose of even watching white sox games anymore and following them? There is only like 5 players in the minors worth keeping tabs on, and only 3 in the majors: Richar, Fields, and Danks. We are so screwed for the future, it isn't even laughable.
  23. I decided to cancel my club as this goes much deeper then KW. It is pretty much the whole ownership, organization, coaching, and scouting.
  24. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) If it wasn't there, it wasn't there. Kenny didn't give Jermaine away. For some f***ed reason, prospects > proven major League talent this year. The pendulum will swing the other way, and I'm sure Kenny would have taken a deal (and pursued many) had they been there. I never liked KW, but like many, after 05 I backed off and gave him the benefit of the doubt. But since that he has reminded me of why I really don't like him as a GM.
  25. I fully expect to see Erstad activated today.
