  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) You definitely missed the entire argument throughout the previous 10-12 pages of fun or whatever it is; I have 75 posts per page, so it's just like 2 for me. Really, comparing Ruth to Bonds is apples to oranges because of how much different the game is now than it was back then. The foul poles are further away, but CF is closer; there are better athletes in today's game, but the thought of hitting a ball out of the park on a consistent basis had not been considered before Ruth. You have sliders and different curveballs and crazy fastballs now, but they had spit balls and sandpaper. Ruth and Bonds may be 1-2, but you can't say one is clearly superior to the other in any argument, or you'll argue the point until the end of time. I guess I will cause Ruth is the greatest there is and likely ever be, in my book. Then again, I'm old fashion.
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) So who has done it the right way? Prove to me that PK, Thome, Dye, Pierzynski, Crede, Rowand, Everett, Iguchi, Buehrle, Garland, Garcia, Vazquez, McCarthy, and every other person who has worn a White Sox uniform for the past 3 years or 5 years or 10 years has been clean and performed like you think they should perform. You can't. There's absolutely no reason not to add Bonds if he wants to come here and is willing to play LF, other than blind bias and hatred. To bad he can't play the field anymore and Thome is already our DH.
  3. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Now you've taken it too far. Steroids and HGH, whether or not he took them, don't improve hitting ability and hand-eye coordination. He still had to amazing hand-eye and hitting ability to hit those homers, steroids or not. Here's my top 10. 1. Bonds 2. Ruth 3. Cobb 4. Gwynn 5. Rose 6. H Wagner 7. DiMaggio 8. A-Rod 9. Hammerin' Hank 10. Ichiro 10. Mantle That is complete bulls***. Fine, you love Barry Bonds, but he is no where near the level of Ruth. Ruth . . . . . . . . . . Everyone else Also, no Ted Williams? You must be kidding yourself.
  4. He pitched with confidence today... lets hope he can keep it up!
  5. today was the first time I actually saw one of our base runners score from 1st on a double! Richar
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) There's one thing I need clarification on and I just can't find the answer anywhere online. When the Elias Sports Bureau rates the players by position (1B, OF, DH | 2B, SS, 3B | C | SP | RP), is a Type A free agent in the 20% at his position based on the entire league or just the other free agents? Would Rowand have to be in the top 20 percentile of free agent OF, 1B and DH or top 20 percentile of all 1B, OF and DH in the game? I'm almost certain that it's the top 20 percentile of free agents at that position but I just need to know for sure. I thought it was the top 20% of all...
  7. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 01:16 AM) Jeremy is in AAA, and posting some very pedestrian numbers.... forgive me as I may have been living under a rock, but what happened to the former Long Beach Dirtbag who batted over 400 at Birmingham. Mike Morse also still in AAA with a .305 BA and a 833 OPS...... only in 50+ games though he lost passion when he was traded from the White Sox...
  8. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:04 AM) That's always a great point, but until he admitts it, I still believe in Barry. he is a great player and all, but I have very little respect for him, and I wouldn't even consider him in the top 5 hitters of all time, let alone top 10.
  9. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 12:01 AM) Prove it. Tim Kurkjian did one of his tributes today to A-Rod, and he wasn't exactly as big as he is now. I know, I know, his HR total never peaked, but he is bigger now. Look at his head. Your head doesn't increase in size like that unless you take steroids. ARod just grew into his body. His head has stayed the same size, or just about. Plus, his trainer was linked to steroids and such.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) I worry about AJ next season. me as well...
  11. I'd have a lot more respect for Bonds if he just admitted that he took performance enhancing drugs. A blind man can see that he has take steroids. Why not just come clean and admit it? Oh well, Babe Ruth is still the best player to ever play baseball, and I highly doubt we will ever see a player better then Ruth.
  12. QUOTE(AirScott @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 06:01 PM) Now that I think about it...does Fields batting second lately have everything to do with the bunt he laid down to win that game against Detroit last week? I don't know, but I think he is/would/will make a TERRIBLE no. 2 hitter.
  13. Owens, CF Fields, 3B Thome, DH Konerko, 1B Pierzynski, C Dye, RF Podsednik, LF Uribe, SS Richar, 2B Granderson, CF Polanco, 2B Casey, DH Ordonez, RF Guillen, SS Rodriguez, C Hessman, 1B Monroe, LF Inge, 3B
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 03:40 PM) That just never gets old! Why would asking a question get old? Seriously, who is this Chris guy I keep hearing about?
  15. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) Fields still looks pretty bad at bat more often than not, but he has talent, which experience will bring out. He is not a better 3Bman than Joe Crede and we know Joe can hit and field. Josh Fields should be in LF and Crede at 3B. Fields would be a good person at 3B when Joe is being rested or moves made in the late innings. We have given up some talented ball players in recent years that our own system developed and it's time to keep our own and build a championship team. CF ? LF Fields DH Thome IB Konedrko RF Dye 3b Crede C Pierzynski 2b ? SS ? The jury is still out on at least three positions for next year If that were the case, Crede would bat 7th behind Pierzynski and Fields would probably be the worse 2 hitter in baseball.
  16. Man, the MLB is doing the the Tigers a favor by suspending Perez.
  17. I got a question... is that Josh Fields real signature that you just cropped and pasted or did you just make it up?
  18. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 06:58 AM) Fields with his 2 hits last night has the average up to .241, and dumping Crede is the subject of the day. For as bad as Crede supposedly was before last season, if he batting more than 50 times his worst season was .239 with 21 homers and GG quality defense. Non tender Joe Crede? Ridiculous. These White Sox "prospects" are a lot like back up quarterbacks. So many people love them until they really have to count on them. When I heard Hawk say the Sox really have something special in Andy Gonzalez yesterday, I questioned why Duane Shaffer got the pink slip. WOW That's been a subject for the past couple of seasons...
  19. to be honest, I'd probably promote both Schnur and Carter to AA, Schnur to play 3B and Carter to play 1B.
  20. perhaps we could get 2 A ball pitchers for Crede this offseason?
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 11:43 PM) Egbert has a slugging against average of .299. Is that your way of telling me that Egbert should be higher, or do you love Eggy so much that you spew out facts about him every chance you get?
  22. Not counting: Josh Fields, Nick Massett, or Danny Richar 1. Gio Gonzalez, LHP 2. Fautino De Los Santos, RHP 3. Jack Egbert, RHP 4. Ryan Sweeney, OF 5. Chris Carter, 1B 6. Lance Broadway, RHP 7.
